Zebra TC75x review

Rugged smartphones will never reach the same sort of status as their consumer-focused alter egos (except perhaps for the Predator-like Cat S60). Their lack of finesse and edginess combined with the absence of cutting-edge components, and the fact that they represent relatively poor value-for-money, means that these devices will never sell in huge numbers.

fkJmzHLSeaCLZiuW559co7-650-80

The Zebra TC75x is one of the newest rugged models to hit the market and carries a suggested retail price of more than £2,000 (around $2,580, AU$3,420); although you can get one with a steep discount (more than 30%) if you shop around.

We sourced one (part number TC75FK-22B22AD-A6) from Stuff-UK for just over £1,400 (around $1,800, AU$2,400), which is about 20 times more than what you’d pay for a consumer-grade phone with similar components.

BenQ EW3270ZL Eye-Care Monitor review

At 32-inches, the BenQ EW3270ZL Eye-Care Monitor is one of the largest monitors you could plonk on your desk, but for an asking price of £440 (around $570, AU$770) it’s not the most expensive.

BenQ has an excellent pedigree when it comes to monitors, so to get this size of monitor for that price and from such a trusted name, is incredibly tempting.

The majority of monitors on desks these days are around the 24-inch mark, with some stretching to 27-inches. For a monitor to come in at 32-inches, it means you’ll need to make sure you have plenty of space on your desk.

5 Things You Need To Know About The 2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition

The original Honda Ridgeline’s career arc looked much more like that of a sports car than a truck: after a strong start out of the gate in the mid-2000s, consumer interest in this unique not-quite-a-truck, not-quite-a-crossover trailed off until it was axed less than 10 years into its production run.

For 2017 we’re treated to an all-new edition of the Ridgeline, one that hopes to rekindle at least some of the interest enjoyed early on by the first-generation pickup and learn from some of the mistakes Honda made in its initial design. I spent a week behind the wheel of this unique unibody hauler to see how well it fares against the current crop of very competitive mid-size trucks.

Check out these 5 things you need to know about the 2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition.

LG SJ9 review

What do we mean by “high quality”? Unless we’re talking about skyscrapers or basketball players, whether something is good or bad isn’t usually isn’t related to height.

French philosopher Michel de Certeau believed it was because the geographically higher we get, the more we rise above the humdrum to a godlike perspective – so we associate height with goodness.

But when testing the Dolby Atmos-enabled SJ9, LG’s latest soundbar and subwoofer combo, we’re looking for high quality in both senses – it needs to sound good and, because of its two upfiring speakers, it also needs to deliver a good sense of height too.

2017 Jeep Compass review

All-new 2017 Jeep® Compass Limited

I was headed down Market Street in San Francisco in the 2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk when it happened. To my right a string of parked cars lined the curb. To my left, a 60-foot long tandem Muni bus stretched fore and aft of my little SUV. In front of me was what looked to be the shortest lane merge in the city.

Not wanting to follow the bus and what was sure to be its many stops, I gunned the 2.4-liter engine. The nine-speed transmission jumped down a few gears and I accelerated. Barely. My lane was quickly coming to an end as I willed the Compass forward, feeling the rpms climb ever so slowly to overtake the bus. Just as my lane ran out, I cleared the behemoth and scooted ahead, a few droplets of sweat now gracing my brow.

Apple 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display (2017) preview: Bright and powerful

The Apple iMac range has received a spec boost for 2017, promising better screen technology, more processing power, Thunderbolt 3 slots and more. But should you be excited by these additions?

We’ve been using the new 27-inch 5K iMac for the last 24 hours to get a feel for the new all-in-one desktop machine. Although this new model isn’t as powerful as they top-spec iMac Pro due out later this year, it certainly offers plenty.

2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 And 1000XT First Ride Review

Yours truly was a big fan of the bigger ’Strom upon its redesign for 2014, and so was our man T. Roderick when he rode the new bike, but maybe to a lesser extent. It was hard to argue with Suzuki’s punched-out-to 1037cc tuned-for-torque L-Twin allied with the V-Strom 1000’s low-mass approach, and it still is.

At the time, though, I think we were all excited about upcoming and more powerful – also larger and more expensive – ADV bikes from Ducati, KTM and BMW. When push came to shove and we finally returned from our epic nine-bike 2015 Ultimate Sports Adventure Touring Shootout, the poor V-Strom finished dead last. Sad. What it did have going for it, though, was the lightest weight of the bunch, and it was rivaled in cheapness only by the Kawasaki Versys 1000 LT.

Apple watchOS 4 hands-on First look : Getting our fingers on Apple’s new Watch OS

Hands on with the Apple Watch’s smart new skin

Apple has taken the wraps off watchOS 4, revealing a new look for the Apple Watch and dropping a few hints at what we can expect to see on the Watch Series 3 later this year.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Apple watchOS 4

You won’t be able to get watchOS 4 until around the same time, but it’ll be rolling out to all versions of the smartwatch – that’s Series 0, Series 1, Series 2 and, presuming it does in fact happen, the Series 3. It’s possible there will no public beta before then, so you’ll have to wait until September unless you download the developer beta – which we strongly recommend against.

Seriously, not only will you have to update your iPhone to the iOS 11 preview beforehand (which is unstable and only reversible with a lot of faffing around), but the Watch can only be rolled back to watchOS 3 by taking it to an Apple store.

MSI GE62VR 7RF Camo Squad Review: Heavy Hitter

We review MSI’s GE62VR 7RF!

MSI’s newest notebook, the GE62VR 7RF is a 15-inch gaming notebook that’s advertised as VR ready, and is clad in a pretty unique digital desert camouflage scheme. The design isn’t for everyone, but it’s undeniably a pretty damn unique look that’s sure to turn heads wherever you go – it certainly did just that while we were in Taipei last week.  The GE62VR 7RF is powerful enough to handle most AAA titles currently out today but is light enough that it won’t be a literal pain in the back when you’re carrying it. But is it really worth the premium price it commands?

A different kind of color scheme

The GE62VR 7RF sports a pretty damn unique color scheme even in gaming notebook standards. Instead of having multiple LEDs scattered across its body, the GE62VR 7RF uses a digital desert color scheme that’s closer to the one currently being used by US Marines.

Canon IXUS 185 Review

Introduction

The Canon IXUS 185 is a new budget compact camera. The Canon 185 features a 20 megapixel 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor and a 10x optical zoom lens which is equivalent to 28-224mm in 35mm terms, 720p movie recording, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Intelligent Image Stabilisation for stills and movies. The Canon IXUS 185 retails for £119.99 / €149.99.

Ease of Use

Having been selling digital IXUS cameras for the past 15 years – and at one time selling them in droves – Canon as a manufacturer has taken an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach to 2017’s latest iteration of the long running series. Many might suggest the market has moved on – thanks to smartphone and tablet integrated cameras largely killing off the dedicated compact point-and-shoot category that the IXUS very much falls into.

Simply put, the HTC U11’s back cover is extremely glossy which makes it aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and hands. Not only that, it can also handle liquids due to its IP67-rated body.

Opinion: 6 reasons why VR isn’t ready to succeed, and 1 reason why it will

Virtual reality*, or VR, has the potential to break one of the basic tenets of photography: that it’s fundamentally a medium based on looking at an image, rather than being immersed in, or part of, an image. However, despite years of technology development, VR has never quite gained traction beyond tech enthusiasts.

The problem certainly isn’t a lack of innovation or investment. In the consumer market, companies like Samsung, Ricoh, and Nikon have all introduced 360º cameras at reasonable price points, and while they’re fun, none has come up with a product that rocked the world.

At the professional level, companies like Google and Nokia have put a lot of R&D into platforms and products, and while they’ve achieved some level commercial success, VR remains a somewhat niche market. Meanwhile, media organizations such as The New York Times and USA Today have created good content, but the masses aren’t exactly rushing to it.

Audi S3 Sportback Old v New: 2017 Sportback v 2011 Black Edition

Late in 2016, we were the official media partner at the inaugural Motorworld festival at Sydney Motorsport Park, where we brought along 26 performance vehicles and SUVs from various manufacturers that punters and readers could book in to test drive as well as contribute to our mega tests.

Audi S3 Sportback Old v New: 2017 Sportback v 2011 Black Edition

We were stoked with the feedback we received from CarAdvice readers specific to the cars at Motorworld, but we also wanted to have a CarAdvice reader take part in a review with us.

After plenty of brainstorming trying to figure out what the best approach would be, and the most valuable way to have readers involved, we realised our Owner Reviews offer the perfect auditioning platform.

Those Owner Reviews allow the team to see just how well the writers know their cars and whether or not they would make a good candidate –  and they also allow the team to find out who owns a cool or interesting car.

Toshiba Portege X20W Review

Toshiba may have retreated from the consumer market in recent years, but it isn’t out of the laptop game completely. The company has focused on making excellent business laptops, and the 12-inch Toshiba Portege X20W is the latest system to benefit from the company’s expertise. Starting at $979, the slim laptop boasts solid construction and a great 2-in-1 design, but our enthusiasm is tempered by short battery life and an easy-to-lose pen.

Design

The slim ultraportable measures 11.8 x 8.6 x 0.61 inches and weighs a very portable 2.4 pounds. That’s thin, but if you want a thinner machine, the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 measures a slim 0.54 inches thick. The Portege X20W slips in under the 3-pound mark thanks to its slim magnesium-alloy chassis, which manages to offer enough rigidity to feel substantial even with its light weight. The lightweight brushed metal has a dark finish that Toshiba calls onyx blue, but you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s just black; you’ll see the blue tint only when the light hits it just right.

Hands on: iPad Pro 2 10.5 review

The new iPad Pro 10.5, or iPad Pro 2 to others (and how we’re referring to it here) has finally been announced – and it’s bringing a raft of features that Apple hopes makes it even more of a competitor to the common laptop.

The main thing that’s different about the iPad Pro 2 – well, one of them – is the fact the screen is so much less bezel-heavy than before.

The new model packs a 10.5-inch screen into a similar footprint to the iPad Pro 9.7, making it one of the slickest-looking iPads ever made.

On top of that Apple has pushed a few of its other technological advancements into the mix, narrowing the gap between the iPhone and iPad in terms of the tech – and it’s just the sort of thing we needed to see.

AKG N60NC Wireless review

There’s a lot been said about silence. The Chinese philosopher Laozi said “silence is a source of great strength”, while Confucius believed it was a “friend that never betrays”.

At What Hi-Fi? we take a more practical view: it’s a great feature to have in a pair of headphones, especially when you’re in a busy office or on a noisy plane.

AKG’s N60NC Wireless are designed for just that. They are more compact, more convenient and cheaper than the excellent Sony MDR-1000X, but that doesn’t mean they’re lacking in quality. For their price, these are a superb pair of cans.

Design

As the ‘Wireless’ part of the name suggests, the main difference between these headphones and the wired N60NCs is aptX Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Best Phones of 2017

Tom’s Guide reviews dozens of new smartphones, and we evaluate them in our lab and in the real world based on design, features, performance, camera quality and battery life. Based on our testing, the Galaxy S8 ($720 on Samsung) is the best choice for most people.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ boast a new Infinity Display that stretches all the way from edge to edge of the design. The screen is also crisp, sharp and colorful. The S8 is the fastest performing smartphone that we have tested and features the best cameras we’ve tested. These handsets offer longer lasting batteries than their predecessors, too.

Prefer iOS? The iPhone 7 is good but the iPhone 7 Plus is better if you want a true optical zoom, bigger screen and more battery life. Just be aware that we’re getting ever close to the iPhone 8 launch in the fall.

ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE vs Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G) – gaming on a budget

Here we are again with another comparison. This time we will take a look at two budget gaming solutions – the ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE and the Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G). Not long ago we compared the Aspire VX 15 to Lenovo Y520 which is one of the best budget gaming notebooks at the moment but now we are going to see how it stands next to the ROG Strix GL553VE.

Both notebooks are equipped with very similar hardware, however, the ROG Strix GL553VE is priced a bit higher. Is it any better? We will cover that in this article.

Design and construction

It terms of design the two notebooks are pretty similar. They have roughly the same dimensions (30 mm vs 32 mm for the Strix GL553VE and the Aspire VX 15 respectively) and the same weight – 2.5 vs 2.6 kg (about 5.5 lbs). The design of the lids is also similar – two stripes and the company’s or series’ logo.

Sony MDR-XB950N1 Wireless Headphones Quick Review

Wireless is one of the most convenient ways of listening to music, and audio brands are starting to take advantage of the demand for such feature while throwing in a bunch of features to enhance the user’s audio experience. One of those brands is Sony and their MDR-XB950N1 Wireless Headphones. It features Bluetooth connectivity, NFC, and Noise Canceling. Check out our review below.

Design and Construction

One of the first things we noticed about the XB950N1 is the size. It has large circular housings with a smooth sand-like finish, while the bands are thick with the top part being metal with a brushed finish.

DJI Spark vs DJI Mavic Pro: Which is the Drone to Own?

DJI has successfully tapped the main markets of the drone industry from industrial and professional use, rescue operations, and now, the consumer market for amateur users. With the release of the DJI Spark, it promises portability and performance which are evidently borrowed from the Mavic Pro from late last year.

We’ve been getting a lot of questions from both our readers and friends if they should buy the Mavic Pro right now (more expensive but better specs) or wait for the Spark to arrive (more affordable but not yet available). This quick guide will show where these two quadcopters differ and hopefully help you decide which to go for if you’re in the market for a new portable drone.

Design and Size

While the Spark definitely is smaller than the Mavic Pro when flying, it has fixed arms which make it slightly wider than the Mavic when folded up. This means that the Mavic Pro could still occupy a narrower space when packed and is more compact to squeeze in between things. Although when folded out, the Mavic Pro is inarguably larger and double the size of the Spark.

Nubia M2 Lite review: Enough to create a buzz

India is among the most price-sensitive smartphone markets globally. The cost plays an important role in the brand’s sales numbers in the country. This is one reason that smartphone brand Nubia, which for now has limited offerings in the entry-level segment, is still struggling to gain a foothold in India. In past few months, the company, which is a sub-brand of Chinese tech firm ZTE, has launched some mid-range and upper-mid range smartphones. One of these the Nubia M2 Lite smartphone.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Nubia M2 Lite

Launched recently, the smartphone is Nubia’s another shot in the highly-competitive lower-mid segment. Given the price tag of Rs 13,999/$217, the handset rivals offerings from Motorola and other Chinese brands such as Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.

At the smartphone’s launch the handset maker said that the M2 Lite is youth-oriented because of its mix of beauty and performance. Although the Nubia M2 Lite specifications and features look convincing on paper, we gave it a try in real life by testing it for over a week. And here’s what we think about it.

iOS 11 Finally Makes the iPad a Capable Computer

Can tablets be the future of computing? If iOS 11 is any indication, Apple believes so. And based on the huge number of features the company has pushed into the update, I agree that, for the right people, tablets can be that future.

ipad

While we’ve seen macOS borrow heavily from iOS (Siri, touch bar, etc.), the iPad is finally taking more cues from its more advanced sibling. The tablet’s new dock is just like the one on the Mac: It hides when you don’t need it, and you can pop it up from any screen with a swipe. Not only does this dock fit more icons than before, but it will also add suggestions of apps while you work, appearing on the right side of the dock.

“The trick has been providing enough features on its mobile OS without overwhelming users,” Avi Greengart, research director for consumer platforms and devices at GlobalData, said of the new OS.

The Canon PowerShot SX730 HS retails for £229.99 / €299.99.

Apple HomePod vs Google Home vs Amazon Echo: What’s the difference?

Back in November 2015 Amazon released Amazon Echo, its all-in-one speaker and assistant with Amazon Alexa voice control. And it’s not taken long for other tech companies to muscle in with their own competitors.

A year later, in November 2016, Google released its Google Home speaker with Google Assistant voice control (which arrived in the UK in April 2017).

Now Apple is following suit with its HomePod speaker featuring Siri voice control, which is due for release in December 2017.

2017 Ford Mustang SF600R By Schropp Tuning Review

When you’re talking about a European-based tuner that has proven its worth building programs for American muscle cars, the first name that comes to mind is Geiger Cars. There are others, though, that are also worth mentioning, one of which is Schropp Tuning. Also located in Germany, Schropp is still trying to make a name for itself in this segment, and so far it’s done a good job at thanks to programs like the SF600R kit for the all-American Ford Mustang.

The program is actually based on the Mustang GT and questionable appearances aside, the SF600R program is actually very promising from a performance point of view. There are two different engine upgrade programs in total, one of which brings the muscle car’s output up to over 800 horsepower. With that kind of power under its hood, a Schropp-tuned Mustang can do serious damage on a race track.

2017 Aprilia Shiver 900 Review

Aprilia has been firing on all pistons to give the world class leading performance motorcycles that make the riding aphrodisiac’s hearts racing. And as with them trying to stay with changing times, they add new updated models every year to their existing lineup to keep things fresh. Although they never made many headways before, it seems like they have now learnt things the hard way and have been busy making bikes that speak for themselves and beam technical prowess.

First seen on the EICMA 2016 stage, Aprilia launched the updated models of its naked streetfighter, Shiver. A 750cc motorcycle first launched in 2007, struggled because of its unearthing looks which were not any more striking than the competition. But now, it seems that Aprilia have given their magic touch to the 2017 edition, and it looks more so ever lively and strong.

Hands on: HP Omen X Compact Desktop review

Until someone figures out lag-free, wireless virtual reality (VR) from a PC or develops an standalone headset that can match PC-grade VR, we’re going to be stuck with backpack PCs. Knowing this, HP has gone and crafted arguably the most impressive one yet: its new HP Omen X Compact Desktop.

First seen around this time last year in a prototype state, to call this simply a backpack PC would be a sore oversight, as this PC doubles as both a powerful compact gaming PC that stands vertically on an included dock and one that can be strapped to your back for tether-free VR with an HTC Vive.

In a way, it’s a Nintendo Switch-like concept that could see PC gamers moving their prospective Omen X throughout the house, between their desk, their TV and on their back in between. Frankly, it’s mighty impressive, despite not getting to test its VR performance during a recent preview event held by HP in New York City.
