2019 Kawasaki W800 Cafe Review: Making “the Ton” Exciting Again!

Oh dear, it’s kind of like one of those deals where you nag a person to do a thing for years, then they do the thing, and you sort of wished you hadn’t encouraged them. Suggesting someone take accordion lessons. Encouraging your wife to take up the krav maga. We always asked Kawasaki why they weren’t cashing in on the “classic bike” market along with the other OEMs, given that they’ve been selling the W800 in other markets since its 2011 upgrade from W650. But now that the W800 is here I kind of agree with their decision not to import it. The W800 is a perfectly nice retro motorcycle, but it’s retro in a way things like  Triumph’s “Classics” and some others aren’t: The Kawasaki feels kind of old instead of just looking that way.

LG OLED65C9PLA review: LG’s 2019 OLED defies expectations

Despite all of its What Hi-Fi? Awards, LG is in a tricky position with its OLED TVs. According to accepted wisdom, OLED panels hit their performance limit in 2017, and from a hardware perspective, these 2019 OLEDs are similar to models from back then.

LG has also put many of its eggs in the OLED basket – not only is the upper end of the company’s own range entirely OLED-focused, it also makes panels that all other manufacturers use in their OLED models. All of which is to say that LG has more invested than anyone else in the continued supremacy of OLED as a TV technology.

iPhone 11 2019 could embrace USB-C and give you a fast charger

Apple could finally embrace USB-C for the 2019 iPhone models, but that doesn’t mean the trusty Lightning cable will be gone in a flash.

According to a new report from Japanese site Mac Otakara, Apple will ship this year’s handsets with the fast 18W USB-C charger, along with a Lightning-to-USB-C cable.

Currently, Apple ships the phone with the same 5W charger and a standard USB-A-to-Lightning cable, which doesn’t offer the fast charging capabilities that have been available since the iPhone 8.

Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S Review

Introduction

Announced back in January 2019, the Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S is an ultra wide-angle lens specifically designed for the Nikon Z series of full-frame mirrorless cameras.

This lens is the first to be announced in 2019, following on from the three made available in 2018 – a 24-70mm f/4, 50mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.8. If Nikon follows through on its lens road-map plan, we should see several more S series lenses announced over the next year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10: We may have just learned a key thing about its battery life

A tweet from noted Samsung leaker Ice Universe has potentially shown off a key thing about the forthcoming Galaxy Note 10’s battery: it’s absolutely massive.

The tweet doesn’t add a lot of information, but merely seems to suggest that the Note 10 Pro 4G will have a 4500mAh battery, which is nearly double the 2,658mAh battery of the iPhone XS and a decent improvement on the Pixel 3 XL’s 3,430mAh offering.

2019 Hyundai Venue Review — International

Hyundai’s all-new small SUV, Venue, has a weird name but is it set to redefine entry-level motoring?

After generations of baby hatchbacks that stretch back to its original Excel, Hyundai’s starter car is about to become an SUV — the Venue. Revealed at the New York motor show this month, the all-new Venue small SUV will replace the ancient Accent at the bottom of the Hyundai line-up. Although it’s unlikely to get close to the current Accent base price of $15,490, the target is something around — or under — $18,000. Based on a brief preview drive of a pre-production model at the South Korean brand’s Namyang test centre, the shape of entry-level motoring in Australia is set for a seismic shift. The Hyundai Venue is upright and boxy, but drives tight and with more vigour than expected. Compared with the Accent, there is no comparison.

Fujifilm X-T30 vs Sony a6400 – Five key aspects analysed

Since the departure of Samsung, and excluding Canon who never really attempted to compete at the same level with the EOS M series, it is safe to say that Fujifilm and Sony are the two main players in the mirrorless APS-C segment.

Both companies have produced a complete system of very capable cameras, but whereas Sony is known for pushing technology to its absolute limits, Fujifilm’s appeal continues to lie in the traditional appearance of its products.

Samsung’s strangest TV just got an even weirder version

Millennials love portrait video, Samsung says, so why not make them a TV that throws out the traditional aspect ratio and flips it 90-degrees? That’s the thinking behind the new Samsung ‘The Sero’, one of a range of new TVs that build on the existing “The Frame’ set, which mimics a traditional picture frame.

Galaxy Fold plan B: Samsung’s wraparound display phone

Let’s take a look at a device Samsung planned in around the same time as the Galaxy Fold – a wraparound display-toting phone. This device was discovered in a patent this week published to the World Intellectual Property Organization, or WIPO. There, a patent first filed by Samsung back in May of 2016 was just revealed to the public this week – just in time to remind us that for bendable displays, Samsung’s in this business for the long haul.

RevoNext QT5 review: This in-ear monitor offers tremendous bang for very few bucks

The sound quality is superb—as long as you use the right eartips for your specific ears.

Many smartphones come with earbuds that let you privately listen to music stored or streamed on the device. Many consumers regard those stock earbuds with disdain, however, claiming their sound quality is simply not good. For them, buying a set of third-party earbuds—or, even better, a set of in-ear monitors (IEMs)—is an easy way to improve the quality of the sound they hear.

Your guide to hunting down misplaced buds

Apple AirPods are among the most convenient ways to listen to music and take calls, with the charging case portable enough to slip into your pocket when they’re not in use. However, that means they’re also easy to lose – even easier than your other gadgets.

2019 Holden Acadia v Hyundai Santa Fe comparison: Big family? This pair could present a winner

There comes a time in many families when the call is made: ‘We need a bigger car’. You’re a bit fed up with jamming all of your gear into something small, or the imminent arrival of another human into your clan will spur the decision.

While smaller vehicles are cheaper to buy, run and drive, they don’t suit all purposes. Sometimes, you’re looking for vast acreages of steel and sheetmetal to call your home on wheels: room enough for family and gear to sprawl out, and keep tempers (kids and adults alike) in check.
