Toshiba Q300 Pro Solid State Drive Review

Toshiba Q300 Pro SSD (1)

There are many ways to speed up your computer, but one of the most effective, especially if you do a lot of photo editing, is replacing the slowest thing in your computer (normally the Hard Disk Drive: aka HDD) with a new Solid State Drive (SSD). Here we find out if installing a new Toshiba SSD Q300 Pro drive gives a noticeable speed improvement.

Features and Handling

The Toshiba Solid State Drive (SSD) Q300 Pro gives you a faster hard drive, by using NAND flash (solid state) memory, instead of a physical spinning platter in a normal Hard Disk Drive (HDD). With no moving parts, there is no noise, and the drive should not suffer from wear and tear. The drive also comes with a 5 year warranty.

Kangaroo Notebook Review

With all of our connected gadgets, it seems harder than ever to separate our work and personal lives. The $300 Kangaroo Notebook makes an attempt to solve this problem by splitting the system into two less-powerful computers. The laptop uses two modules, and each has its own processor, RAM and storage.

In theory, you would use them to create separate work and family laptops, personal and family notebooks, or any other way you want to divide it (maybe you’re hiding something from your spouse!). But the laptop part is junk: It feels cheap, and it has a bad touchpad and an even worse keyboard. It also suffers from short battery life. It has passable performance and a decent display, but the other problems prevent us from recommending it to anyone.

Cherry Mobile FB100 Hands-on Review: Unboxing – Unofficial Facebook Phone

cherry-mobile-fb100-02

Aside from the Iris, we managed to get our hands on another new phone from local brand Cherry Mobile. The FB100 is a budget phone aimed at Facebook addicts everywhere, clothed in Facebook’s distinctive shade of blue and armed with a physical button that instantly launches the social networking app. Let’s take a look at the unofficial Facebook phone from Cherry Mobile:

Packaging and contents:

The FB100 is obviously being positioned as a budget, Facebook-centric device, and it all starts with the packaging. The box of the phone is clothed in that same, Facebook-blue color. Amazfit Arc review : If cutting costs is a top priority, look no further than Arc

Huami’s on a roll this year. The Chinese company has already released the Amazfit Moon Beam and Equator wearables, which weren’t perfect but fantastically eye catching devices nonetheless, and now it’s following up with the Amazfit Arc and Amazfit Pace.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Amazfit Arc

Where Moon Beam/Equator are the fancy lookers of the bunch and Pace is the heavy hitter chock-full of fitness features, Arc lies in between as the perfectly adept entry-level fitness tracker.

That means the Amazfit Arc isn’t showy and isn’t as feature packed, but still offers plenty in the form of heart rate tracking and long battery life for the small price of $69.99. Here’s how we got along with the Arc.

Which Laptop CPU is Right for You?

A computer’s processor is its brain, the component where most of the “thinking” happens. A faster CPU (central processing unit) lets you crunch spreadsheets, surf web pages, play games or edit photos faster, but a higher-wattage processor may also give you worse battery life.

When you’re shopping for a laptop, you’ll usually see the name of the processor listed prominently in every product description. However, just seeing the CPU model name, without any context, can be confusing. Is a laptop with a Core i7-7Y75 CPU faster than one with a Core i5-7200U? How much speed do you really need, anyway?

Image Credit: Iaroslav Neliubov / Shutterstock

Most laptops today are powered by an Intel CPU, with a just handful of lower-cost models using one of AMD’s processors. Even though most of the chips come from one company, there are more than two dozen different models you might see featured in a brand new notebook. Fortunately, learning the basics isn’t too difficult.

Razer Raiju Controller review

Third party controllers have had a bad reputation in the past.

It’s not that they’ve been particularly bad, but they’ve been the kinds of controllers that have made you realise just how amazingly designed Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo’s own controllers have been.

As a case in point, the wired Xbox 360 controller which we bought second-hand over six years ago is still in perfect working order despite the daily abuse we put it through.

The Razer Raiju wants to change all that. It represents Razer’s attempt to improve upon Sony’s standard PS4 controller, the DualShock 4, and introduces a couple of useful features like additional programmable buttons and adjustable triggers.

Epson EH-TW7300 3LCD Projector Review

What is the Epson EH-TW7300?

The EH-TW7300 is Epson’s latest mid-range 3LCD projector that this year includes the ability to accept 4K Ultra HD footage and the projector uses a ‘faux’ pixel shift mode to create a 3840 x 2160p image from its 1080p 0.74 inch D9 chips. This is very similar technology to JVC’s eShift which does exactly the same thing. The TW7300 can also support High Dynamic Range (HDR) and the projector, whilst bright, cannot display HDR in the same way as a TV display can. However we will cover that aspect in more detail later in the review. Epson also boast that the projector can display DCI-P3 colour which would make it a good budget choice for watching Ultra HD Blu-rays. The addition of ten memories for the lens memory function is good news for those who use scope ratio screens.

So with quite a step up compared to the features on previous models and support for 4K Ultra HD sources, can the Epson prove to be the best entry level projector available yet? Let’s find out.

2017 Audi SQ7 TDI review

2017 Audi SQ7 TDI review

The “fastest seven-seat diesel SUV in the world,” as its maker claims, has hit Aussie terra firma and I’m surely not the only observer to view the concept around the 2017 Audi SQ7 TDI with a degree of logic-driven skepticism.

Even the concept is tricky to pin down: does the new large-SUV tree-topper from Ingolstadt favour performance? Or sportiness? Or both? And why would you need lots of either, or both, in a device intrinsically purposed for hauling half of the under-nines soccer team to the local park on Sunday morning?

Of course, the thick end of premium market caters more for wants than needs, despite how comprehensively the latter is covered off. In some buyers’ eyes, the allure of simply owning “the most-powerful diesel SUV in Australia” alone is well worth the $153,616 admission before you get Audi’s first-ever SQ7 on the road or tick any options boxes.

HP EliteBook 1040 G3 Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho HP EliteBook 1040 G3

Imagine you’re on a plane, reviewing sensitive business material, when out of nowhere, the person next to you looks at your laptop’s display. Did they see something important? Does this person work in your field? You won’t be asking these questions if you’re using Sure View mode, the privacy-enabling setting in the HP EliteBook 1040 G3 (starting at $1,462 with Sure View, and $1,233 without it).

But Sure View isn’t the only business-centric feature included on HP’s notebook. It also features a comfortable keyboard for productive typing and solid sound for post-work dance breaks. Unfortunately, the privacy-first panel suffers from poor color, and the laptop suffers from below-average battery life. However, if you are worried about being visually hacked, the EliteBook 1040 is a strong choice.

2017 Zero DS / DSR Review

While most EV manufacturers push either off-road or streetbike products to the exclusion of everything else, Zero Motorcycles boldly expands on both of those fronts plus something in-between with the improved-for-2017 DS and DSR models. These two are built to fill the dual-sport niche with off-road suspension and dual-surface tires under a sporty chassis that naturally runs the company’s all-electric drive system. This represents a success for both the electric sector as well as the dual-sport/ adventure sector, both of which are still burgeoning under increasing public interest and steady technological advancements. Today I’m going to take a look at these bikes made unique by the pairing of electrics with the on/off-road riding style associated with dual-sport machines.

Vivo V5 Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Vivo V5 Review

Selfie-centric smartphones have been on the rise in our market as Filipinos found out that they love taking selfies more than everyone else. Vivo capitalized on this by launching the first smartphone with a 20-megapixel front camera and we’ll find out if it offers anything more than just a phone with an outrageously-spec’d front camera. This is our review of the Vivo V5.

Design and Construction

The V5 has a 5.5-inch display size with resolution maxing out at 720p. It already has fairly thin bezels but the 2.5D curved edges make them appear thinner. In general, its face looks generic and doesn’t offer anything new.

Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 Review : Monstrous Size, Mythic Sound

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Razer Kraken 7.1 V2

Razer Kraken Pro V2 3.5mm analogue (left), and Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 USB digital (right) with Chroma lighting

At first glance, the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 ($100) looks big and clunky. It could be a relic of the time when gaming peripherals meant low-end products with high-end pricing, jazzed up to look like something a ’90s kid would find really radical, bro. First impressions can be deceiving, however.

The Kraken 7.1 V2, though hardly subtle, is a rather elegant device that delivers top-notch sound with supreme comfort for both competitive and single-player gamers. It’s bulky and not very portable, and it has few uses beyond PC gaming. But if you need a gaming headset that makes no compromises on audio, this is one of the better options.

MSI Trident Review : A True Console Killer

Kết quả hình ảnh cho MSI Trident

Most modern gaming PCs are either built to immerse you in virtual reality or are fighting for a spot in your entertainment center. The MSI Trident is a wonderful marriage of both. This desktop’s exceptionally compact design gives the PS4 and Xbox One a genuine run for their money, while the Trident’s custom Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card and convenient port layout make enjoying virtual reality in your living room easy. Although limited configurations and a lack of easy upgradability hamper this machine, the MSI Trident is the best attempt I’ve seen yet at luring console fans into the world of PC gaming.

Design and Lighting

There are tons of compact gaming PCs out there, but few look as hand-built for the living room as the MSI Trident does. This striking desktop’s sleek angles and mix of glossy and matte-black plastic take some cues from the PS4 and Xbox One, though its glowing LED lights and exposed GPU fan clearly identify this machine as a different kind of beast.

2017 BMW X5 XDRIVE40E IPERFORMANCE REVIEW

Driving efficiently is no longer the painful task it once was. Though there are still holdouts on the path to higher mpg (I’m looking at you, full-size pickups), most passenger cars have crept towards respectable EPA estimates.

Those who want to do one better than internal combustion have plenty of options. Diesels and gas-electric hybrids offer similar fuel economy, without demanding any lifestyle changes from their owners. Pure electric vehicles, on the other hand, don’t quite yet have the range to accommodate all driving behavior. This makes plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) the perfect fit for those who desire the perks of an EV without the major drawbacks.

2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS review

When the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS arrived at Gingerman Raceway, a small argument broke out. Actually, a melee of Roadshow editors elbowed each other out of the way to hop behind the wheel and take the 500-horsepower street-legal racecar out on the track.

I emerged bruised and battered from the brawl, but nevertheless got to thrash the GT3 RS around the 2.14-mile track, where it earned a top space in my heart.

2017 Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS Special Editions Review

The Netherlands isn’t exactly the first place you look to if you’re in the market for a sports car. But even if the country isn’t particularly known for building and developing hell-raising performance models, the Dutch sports car cupboard isn’t completely barren. That’s thanks in part to Donkervoort, the Lelystand-based manufacturer of authentic and ultra lightweight sports cars. Donkervoort isn’t a big automaker by any means; it’s model lineup consists of just the D8 GTO. But where it lacks in model variety, it more than makes up for with the D8 GTO-RS, a souped up version of the open-wheel sports car that packs improved performance characteristics.

donkervoort-d8-gto-r-2_800x0w

The D8 GTO-RS is limited to just 40 units, but given the overwhelmingly positive reception of the car, Donkervoort decided to expand the range with a pair of special edition versions, namely the D8 GTO-RS Bare Naked Carbon Edition and the D8 GTO-RS Race Edition.

Marshall Mid Bluetooth headphones review

Marshall released its first pair of Bluetooth headphones earlier in 2016 called the Marshall Major II. Ready to rock on the move, these headphones offered a fun listening experience that was slightly let down by a cheap build and imbalanced sound.

Now Marshall is back with its new and more compact but still wireless Mid Bluetooth headphones.

They’re on-ear headphones with great battery life, and a couple of interesting features, but unfortunately they’re not the best sounding cans around.

One of the big draws of Marshall headphones is the brand itself. The name is iconic and the design inspired by its amps is distinctive.

Kodak Ektra review: Phone camera failings can’t revive those nostalgic Kodak moments

We all owe a lot to Kodak. The imaging company was the forerunner in colour film, but also a largely unsung hero in technological developments: it invented the digital camera and even OLED display technology.

That was all before it fell behind the times, sold off the majority of its patents and, in 2012, filed for bankruptcy. The dream was dead.

But the memory lives on. For Kodak isn’t quite done and has, under license, been releasing a range of products in recent years. And 2016 sees the arrival of the Ektra, a phone-camera that shows Kodak’s hunger to climb back up the photographic food-chain.

However, and like so many things in 2016 – a year which has been viewed through the rose-tinted nostalgic glasses of those wanting to wind back to imaginary greater times – the shortcomings of a company that’s descended so far down the chain that it’s slipped off it are evident from the moment we switch the Ektra on.

Audi Q5 (2017) review: Technical brilliance in a slightly vanilla design

The Audi Q5 is arguably Audi’s most important SUV. Sitting in the mid-sized segment, it occupies a space where it’s a little more useful than the cutsey Audi Q3 and a little easier to live with in suburban tight spots than the Audi Q7.

Built in Mexico in Audi’s new facility, the new Q5 is aiming to continue its run at the top spot of SUVs. But to look at, you might wonder what has changed in the second-gen model.

The answer, says Audi, is everything: the Audi Q5 is entirely new, redesigned from the ground up to be better in every way. We spent a couple of days driving one to see whether that rings true.

It’s perhaps unfair to start on a downer, but the Q5’s exterior design might be its biggest drawback. It’s impossible to say the new Q5 is ugly, but it also isn’t particularly eye-catching either. Especially when considering the quirky pressed panels of the dinky Audi Q2.

MEIZU M3 MAX REVIEW

The smartphone industry has changed significantly over the past few years. At one time, it was all about making something that could easily fit in your pocket; now the line between tablet and phone blurs with every passing day.

Meizu’s latest device, the M3 Max, embodies that trend, boasting a hefty 6.0-inch display. But does its performance under the hood match its giant look? We took the phone for a spin to find out.

meizu-m3-max-0004-800x533-c

Design

As has been the case with multiple Meizu phones we’ve reviewed over the past few months, the designers of this model clearly took inspiration from a certain fruity product — or in this case the Plus version of one. That this is a blatant iPhone copy isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however: The phone looks great. From its minimalistic, symmetric styling to the extremely thin, nice-feeling profile, the device really screams quality, at least when it comes to design.

B&O BeoSound 1 review

You wouldn’t expect Bang & Olufsen to follow the footsteps of its peers and make a normal-looking wireless speaker, would you?

This, after all, is the company responsible for the Dalek-like BeoLab 5 – which looks and sounds stunning at £15,500.

The Danish style kings have always thought out of the box when it comes to designing hi-fi, and the new B&O Beosound 1 speaker is no different.

Build and design

The Beosound 1 looks as if it belongs on the thick, glossy pages of a coffee table book. Or in the stylishly minimal interior of a software tycoon’s house.

You’ll either be enticed by its sleek, conical aluminium body, or wonder why it looks like a thermos (or a plunger-less Dalek).

ASUS ZX53VW-AH58 Gaming Laptop Review

With its strong build, snappy SSD storage and full HD display, the ASUS ZX53VW-AH58 is one of those excellent entry-level gaming laptops you can have for much less than the competition, but still delivers top-notch performance on both gaming and general use than you’d expect.

Sometimes getting a gaming laptop that offers solid performance at a very reasonable price is never easy, but theASUS ZX53VW-AH58, and a few others, do come with impressive features affordably. This system is powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience on all but the highest settings with its full HD display and discrete NVidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, and when not playing, it can efficiently perform daily work and media tasks. The configuration puts it head-to-head with our previous top-picks in the gaming category– Dell i7559-763BLK, ASUS K501UX and ASUS K501UW-AB78. All of these are at the very top of the category, and they do offer a significant increase in performance, and the latest ASUS ZX53VW adds variety into the entry-level gaming category.
