You can now buy Sandisk’s 200 GB microSD card on Amazon

At MWC early last March, Sandisk wowed the crowd with what we thought is the highest capacity microSD card so far. Well, it can still cling to that title for now, as it is truly the highest capacity microSD card available in the market. Yes, Sandisk has finally made its 200 GB microSD card available and one can buy it on Amazon already. But while the little card is ready to store thousands of photos and hours of footage, do be aware that you will be paying twice as much for it.

OnePlus 2 unveiling to happen completely in VR

One cannot claim that Chinese startup OnePlus lacks ambition or imagination. It set itself up as one that challenged the status quo in the smartphone industry, bringing out the OnePlus One as a “flagship killer”, a moniker that it was, admittedly, worthy of. Now it wants to repeat that with the OnePlus 2, but it is now also resorting to more marketing gimmicks to bring its product to the spotlight. Aside from just announcing the its July 27 unveiling of the smartphone, it also revealed that it will happen completely in virtual reality.

Samsung Electronics and LG U+ partner to develop 5G tech

Earlier this week we talked about how the ITU has defined 5G technology for the mobile space. The ITU defined 5G networks as having data speeds of at least 20 Gbps. Samsung Electronics and Korean telecommunications carrier LG U+ have now announced that they will team up to jointly develop 5G technology. Korean carrier KT has already announced that it plans to show off 5G networks during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Korea.

Nissan Juke-R 2.0 pumps the power to 600hp

Back in 2011, Nissan showed off the very first version of the Juke-Rand the little crossover looked really cool. That original car packed the powertrain from a GT-R under its crossover body marking a seriously high performance car that Nissan would actually build you if you had enough cash.

Nissan has now announced the Juke-R 2.0 and like the original, this car has the drive train from a Nissan GT-R underneath. The 2.0 version of the car packs 600bhp under the hood and one of the first public looks at the car came at Goodwood where the little beast will be flogged in the hill climb. Nissan is launching the Juke-R 2.0 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Juke.

Ford Focus RS packs 345-hp punch

We have known about the Ford Focus RS since its North American debut back in March. While know most things about the car, Ford was holding some tidbits back. One of those tidbits was exactly how much power the sexy hot hatch would pack under its hood. Ford has finally stopped teasing about power numbers and has confirmed the power output for the car.

The confirmation came at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and before now all we knew was that the RS would make more than 315hp. Being a bit skeptical of promises like that, I expected the car to turn up with 320hp, thankfully I was wrong.

New Mini Clubman grows to accommodate five adults comfortably

If you have ever ridden in the back of a Mini Cooper, you know that the car is very small and uncomfortable. The normal Cooper might as well be a two seater if you need to haul around more than two people and a couple of kids. The Mini Clubman is Mini’s larger vehicle and that car has been refreshed and has grown in key areas for more comfort.

Chevrolet’s 2016 Cruze aims to democratize tech

It might be one of Chevrolet’s smallest cars, but the 2016 Cruze punches above its segment when it comes to its importance in the line-up. Revealed in Detroit today, though not set to go on sale until next year, the new Cruze is Chevy’s lure to new young car owners, not to mention courting the non-US buyers that already make up around 60-percent of the car company’s audience. On offer is a five-seater

On the outside, the Cruze borrows some of the more familiar aspects of Chevrolet’s line-up. The sweeping hood edge, for instance, picks up on the new Malibu and Camaro, while the grille is reminiscent of the second-gen Volt.

You’ll soon be able to car-share your MINI

MINI will bake car-sharing technology directly into future models, allowing owners to loan their cars out when they don’t need them. The functionality will initially integrate MINI into the DriveNow network, which operates short-term car rental in select North American and European cities. An optional add-on, the tech will temporarily make the car available for rent by the minute, something MINI believes will make city-dwellers more likely to consider owning a car themselves.

DriveNow was set up between MINI-owner BMW and Sixt back in 2011. The initial fleet was an array of electric BMW compact-coupes; in San Francisco, for instance, the first 30 minutes of driving is priced at $12, with each subsequent minute adding $0.32 to the bill.

Chevrolet’s Bolt EV is already crushing its 200 mile target

Chevrolet may only have shown off its Bolt EV concept in January, but pre-production models are already in testing as the car gets fast-tracked to market. “They’re running fast,” Pam Fletcher, executive chief engineer of electrified vehicles at Chevrolet, said today in Detroit, “the fact that we can show you fifty-something cars running is busy.” The early cars actually began trials back in April, each a hand-built prototype put through its paces for things like maximum range, cabin comfort, and the performance of the DC fast-charging system.

Although GM expected the Bolt EV concept to be popular, there’s a sense that the company was still surprised by the warmth of the reception at the Detroit Auto Show in January, 2015.

Lenovo ThinkPad Retro isn’t real – but it could be

Lenovo’s Vice President of Corporate Identity and Design David Hill teases a retro-inspired ThinkPad notebook. And the crowd goes wild. The design language originated back in 1992 by designer Richard Sapper here is mixed with a machine with new interior, high-end hardware, and what we can assume will be the newest in new Windows 10 software. While Hill hasn’t confirmed the existence of this ThinkPad Retro notebook, he’s certainly made a good case for it to exist. If ThinkPad fans have anything to say about it, the ThinkPad Retro will soon be on its way.

This mock-up may become the real thing sooner than you think. Hill himself worked on it, and today he’s presenting it as a real possibility for an actual piece of hardware released to the masses. Look at the details here and see if you’d be all about it.

Samsung invests in FOVE eye-tracking VR headset

The head-worn display has already raised almost twice its quarter-million Kickstarter goal of $250,000 with more than a week to spare, but in the meantime its combination of 3D graphics that respond not only where your head is pointing, but where in the scene your eyes are actually looking, has caught the attention of Samsung Ventures, the investment arm of the South Korean firm.

IFTTT’s automation app can watch your Android phone’s battery

Thanks to a slew of updates, IFTTT’s automation apps just became decidedly more useful — especially if you’re religious about your smartphone’s battery. If for Android now includes a battery channel, so you can tell your phone to perform certain duties depending on your charge state.

You can have the app mute your phone as soon as you plug it in, for instance. Also, the existing device channel now works with Bluetooth, music, navigation and WiFi, so you can turn off wireless features when your power is low or get directions to your favorite fishing spot every weekend.

Latest Qi spec promises fast wireless charging for your phone

Before long, you won’t have to choose between charging your phone quickly and plunking it on a convenient wireless charger. The Wireless Power Consortium has rolled out a new version of the Qi standard that supports 15W fast wireless charging, much like the sort we saw late last year. The organization isn’t making any performance claims at the moment, and it’ll be a while before phone makers have compatible devices on store shelves. However, it’s safe to say that this will save you some agonizing wait times — you could return home from work, drop your phone on a pad and expect to have a meaningful amount of energy when you head out for the evening.

Electronic dance music is booming far, wide and loud at spectacular festivals. Airing Redesigns The CPAP Machine As A Small, Unobtrusive Device

Having sleep apnea is not easy. And while using a CPAP mask should help any sufferer get the rest they need, it’s not a particularly convenient device to wear when bunking down on your French Fries Bed. Fortunately, those bearing the affliction might be able to have a more convenient option soon with the Airing.

Described as a “hoseless, maskless, cordless micro-CPAP device,” it measures just 2 x 1.5 x 1 inches and weighs 0.9 ounces, a huge departure from the large, cumbersome CPAP machines currently  in the market. When used, it plugs directly into the nostrils, adding just an inch of housing under the nose, with no tubes sticking out whatsoever, making them especially convenient.

SL-Tainer Is A Shipping Container That Can Dock Onto Trucks All On Its Own

Shipping containers are large and heavy, which is why they’re lifted and loaded onto flatbed trucks using cranes and forklifts. And while it’s a tested process that works, it isn’t necessarily efficient. A new kind of shipping container called SL-Tainer improves on the system by using integrated legs to prop itself up at truck-loading height.

Made by Excalibur Systems, you just push a button to prompt the container to create clearance underneath all on its own, allowing a flatbed trailer to slide in place, before pressing another button to have it lower into the bed. Since it doesn’t require any other tool to lift it up and dock it on a trailer, the requirement for both expensive equipment and a licensed operator are eliminated, allowing for more economical operation, whether at the docks, the warehouse, or a pop-up location.

With A Vertical Platter, The Floating Record Makes Playing Vinyl An Entirely New Experience

For some reason, vinyl records are back on the rise, with new players, recorders, and accessories coming out. Despite renewed interest in the format, however, we still play them using the same boring technology from back in the old days. Nikon COOLPIX AW120 Review

The rugged, weatherproof Nikon AW120 has some pretty big boots to fill. It follows in the footsteps of 2013’s AW110, a strong contender in our 2013 Best Tough / Waterproof Camera Shootout, and recipient of a Dave’s Pick thanks to good underwater performance and a well-considered design.

So how do the two cameras differ? Both have the same 16-megapixel resolution, but the AW120’s Nikkor-branded, 5x optical zoom lens is both a little wider and brighter than that of its forebear. The newer model also offers a higher maximum sensitivity (albeit only under Auto control), and has a higher-resolution Organic LED monitor. And it offers significantly greater battery life, despite otherwise having largely the same features — including both Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70 Review

Panasonic appears to have just lapped everyone in the superzoom camera race — at least in terms of zoom range — by offering a whopping 60x optical zoom with an equivalent range of 20 to 1,200mm in the just announced Panasonic FZ70. While that’s not a longer telephoto reach than, say, the Canon SX50, which also can zoom out to 1,200mm, the FZ70’s zoom range starts from a 20mm wide angle and provides a 12% wider field of view than does the Canon SX50’s 24mm wide angle. Add in a lens that also starts out at max aperture of f/2.8, brighter compared to the SX50’s f/3.4, and the Panasonic FZ70 has our full attention. At least on paper, this FZ70 boasts stats that beat our favorite of all the superzooms we’ve tested (yes, the Canon SX50), and looks like a serious option for photographers wanting a ton of shooting flexibility.

Nikon COOLPIX S33 Waterproof Digital Camera Review

Curvaceous and modern looking, the Nikon Coolpix S33 is designed to be a simple, no-nonsense waterproof camera. If you don’t need the super-deep depth of its big brother theAW130 (which can descend to the astounding depth of 100 feet) and if you prefer simpler controls and a smaller size (and price tag), then the S33 may be just the rugged camera you’ve been looking for.

Retailing for less than half the price of the AW130 ($150 vs $350) it clearly has family shooters in mind, and anyone wanting to travel light during their rugged shooting adventures. With an exterior appearing virtually identical to last year’s S32, let’s peek under the hood and see what’s new in this year’s model.
