Is the MacBook Air Good for Students?

The MacBook Air is definitely a laptop that’s long in the tooth. Apple hasn’t introduced a new model in two years, and it killed off the 11-inch Air in 2016. The company could phase out the  13-inch laptop in the not-too-distant future in favor of the thinner and more expensive 12-inch MacBook. However, as long as the MacBook Air remains available, it’s a worthwhile choice for high school and college students.

macbook_air_image_lead

Here are the pros and cons.

Why the MacBook Air Is a Good Student Laptop

Great Value (for a Mac): Most students and their families aren’t sweating $100 bills while they bask in the sun. If you want an Apple laptop, and you don’t want to spend at least $1,299 for a 12-inch MacBook or 13-inch MacBook Pro, the Air is your only choice.  The entry-level Air carries a $999 MSRP, but you can easily find it for $899 at third-party retailers, or even $799 on sale. However, you probably will want to pay another $200 for a configuration with a 256GB SSD, rather than the 128GB you get on the base model.

Meizu X2 Hands-on Review – First Dual Camera Phone: specs, release date, price

Meizu company recently began to hide its plans for the release of new devices in 2017.  Also, in the last few months, Meizu has been very sluggish in the smartphone market, while the competitor Xiaomi has already released pretty dual camera flagship Xiaomi Mi6.

As we know, devices with dual rear cameras are released abound, especially from third-tier manufacturers from China. As for Xiaomi, the company announced a dual camera phone last year called Xiaomi Mi5s Plus.

Meizu X2 - Review First Dual Camera Phone: specs, release date, price

If we talk about Meizu, until now the company does not have dual camera phone at all. However, this year Chinese manufacturer is ready to correct its shortcoming with Meizu X2. New smartphone will receive two 12 MP cameras. If you hope that Meizu uses Qualcomm’s processor, but that will not happen – it will use Mediatek Helio X25. As far as we remember, these companies have already resolved all the patent disagreements, but they are not in a hurry to cooperate. It’s a pity.

2017 Evoke Urban S Review

Evoke Motorcycles looks to take on the Zero- and Brammo-based products in the U.S. electric market with its Urban S model that rolls modern, sportbike style and 86 pound-feet of instantly-available torque together with a power pack that delivers a nearly 125-mile range. Best of all, Evoke manages to keep the price tag under the 10K mark, so this keeps the bike available to the low-budget riders and entry-level alike. I gotta say that this will certainly help it move in the gradually-warming domestic market, but the real defining factors will be how well it matches up with the other big EV bikes available today.

Design

2017-evoke-urban-s_800x0w

Evoke drew heavily from European influences when it drew up the Urban S. A cut-down front fender, inverted front forks and tripleclamp-mount headlight housing lead the way with a Spartan style not unlike current standard and naked sportbikes.

Corsair Glaive RGB review

Corsair is one of the first brands that come to mind when it comes to gaming keyboards, RAM, power supplies, cooling and PC cases. When it comes to gaming mice, though, the company has struggled to make an iconic product. The gaming hardware maker’s latest attempt is the Glaive RGB, which comes priced at $69 (about £50, AU$90) as a direct competitor to the $69 (£69, AU$119) Razer DeathAdder Elite.

7mPMAC3YMX3bHoTSiemXCn-650-80

It’s pricer than other wired gaming mice, like the $49 or £69 (about AU$65) Logitech G Pro. However, this mouse has a few unique features including one of the most sensitive optical sensors on the market and interchangeable thumb grips. Unfortunately, in some ways the Glaive fails to step out from under the shadow of Corsair’s past gaming mice like the M65 Pro RGB.

Sony HT-MT300 Soundbar review

It seems just about every company is coming out with a soundbar these days and it can be difficult to choose the right one. You have to consider how much space you have, what features you need and if you plan on expanding the system with a subwoofer or surround speakers in the future.

Most people just want a soundbar that works and sounds great and the company’s entry level HT-MT300 soundbar does just that. For $300 (£250, about AU$434), you get a compact soundbar that will fit just about any home theater and a wireless sub that you can place under your sofa to really feel the bass.

That said, it’s up against stiff competition like the Q Acoustics M3 soundbar, the LG SH7B and the excellent Samsung HW-MS650. It might not be the best soundbar in that bunch but, after spending a week with the Sony HT-MT300, we walked away impressed with the well-rounded package Sony created.

Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 Review

Introduction

The Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 is a new short telephoto prime lens for Sony’s 35mm full-frame compact system cameras. It features 9 elements in 8 groups including one extra-low dispersion element to help limit color fringing and chromatic aberrations, a double linear autofocus motor, a rounded 9 blade diaphragm, and a customisable Focus Hold button. The Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM lens is available for £600 / $600 in the UK and the US, respectively.

Ease of Use

Part of the appeal of well-priced 85mm fast primes is their low weight, and at 371g, the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 is easily the lightest 85mm lens currently available for Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras. The FE 85mm is also quite a compact lens given its focal range, with a 78mm diameter and 82mm length.

Quad Z-4 Floorstanding Speaker Review : The Quad is big but also rather clever

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Quad Z-4 Floorstanding Speaker Review

What is the Quad Z-4?

The Quad Z-4 is the largest box speaker in the company’s inventory, although it’s important to note that Quad is also the producer of spectacular but rather bulky electrostatic based designs. While Quad is perhaps more famous for their electrostatic designs – they have been making them for over 60 years – the company has also been a surprisingly prolific producer of box speaker designs and really got into its stride with the L series models from the early years of this century.

The use of Z as the Series letter for this range of speakers is pretty telling as it suggests that unless Quad is going to pilfer a different alphabet, this is the last word in their take in box speakers. Given that the Z-4 is a fairly hefty £3,200/$4,800, this does put us into fairly rarefied territory but as we are slowly assembling a database of models at this price point we now at least have a few points of comparison to it – not least the similarly imposing Sonus faber Venere S.

BlackBerry KeyOne Review: In Praise of the Keyboard

Let’s be blunt: We will never return to BlackBerry’s glory days, when phones stamped with that company’s logo ruled the mobile world. But that doesn’t mean that BlackBerry has to settle for being a distant also-ran in a world dominated by phones from Apple and Samsung. TCL now makes phones under the BlackBerry banner, using that company’s security-focused software and branding on an Android device. And with the $549 BlackBerry KeyOne, TCL has produced a phone that will remind you of BlackBerry’s glory days.

The KeyOne blends a very powerful physical keyboard with an all-day battery in a phone that a lot of productivity addicts will be happy to use, both around the office and at home. The processor inside the KeyOne feels a little underpowered and that price tag seems steep, but this is a phone that ultimately helps you get the job done.

Kia Picanto (2017) review: Small, sporty and savvy

The Kia Picanto is the baby of the Kia family, sitting under the recently launched Rio in terms of both cost and size. That’s not to say the third-generation Picanto doesn’t offer brains in that small body though.

The latest model of the South Korean company’s city car features support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as numerous safety features and advanced driver assistant functions, making it the most technologically advanced Picanto yet.

So how does the little car perform and can it win city lovers’ hearts?

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Heritage Blue Special Edition Review

Japan is home to one of the biggest auto industries in the world, so it’s understandable why many automakers send special edition models to the Land of the Rising Sun. Recently, General Motors took its turn gifting Japanese customers with a special edition Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. The Vette is about as exclusive as they come, at least considering where it’s headed. The limited-run sports car is officially billed as the Grand Sport Admiral Blue Heritage Edition, and like most exclusive cars that come to Japan, it comes with some nifty features that underscore its status as a true special edition.

Needless to say, the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Admiral Blue Heritage Edition isn’t going anywhere else in the world. In fact, even Japanese customers will have to fight over the special edition Corvette as reports indicate Chevrolet will only send over five units, each priced at ¥12.8 million. That converts to roughly $115,000 based on current exchange rates. By comparison, the Corvette Grand Sport starts at $66,445 here in the U.S., so Japanese customers will have to fork over nearly double to get their hands on one. Then again, it is an exclusive Corvette Grand Sport with unique details in the exterior and interior. Having a chance to own one means paying a premium for that opportunity.

Microsoft Surface Laptop vs Apple MacBook (2016) vs Apple MacBook Pro (2016): What’s the difference?

If you’re considering the Surface Laptop, you’re probably also eyeing both of Apple’s compact laptops. But which one is best for you and your lifestyle? Well, we’ve figured it so you don’t have to.

Sony SRS-XB10 review

sony-srs-xb10-03

The grenade-size SRS-XB10 is the smallest and most basic of the new speakers in Sony’s line of Extra Bass Bluetooth speakers. At this size “extra bass” might be a stretch, but it does have a bit more punch than many competitors.

Available in multiple colors — Sony sent us a review sample of the more mundane-looking black version — the water-resistant speaker’s claim to fame is that it has good battery life for a tiny speaker and delivers relatively richer sound than the plethora of other tiny Bluetooth speakers on the market.

The speaker has a few extra features worth noting: The detachable strap, which could be used to hang the speaker from a hook in your shower or from a tree branch, converts into a stand for the speaker when you place it on its side in horizontal mode. You can also pair two of these speakers and use them as stereo speakers for your computer, for instance (you get more directional sound with the speaker on its side).

2017 Chevrolet SS review

263551

I dling at a red light, the 2017 Chevrolet SS writhes under my seat, the power of its 6.2-liter V8 shimmying this sedan like it wants to tear out of here in a cloud of tire smoke. The average person walking down the street doesn’t look twice, however, as the SS is a bonafide sleeper.

When the light turns green, those nearby pedestrians get treated to a deep-throated roar from the exhaust, although I refrain from burning up the tires.

The SS is the kind of car that aficionados love; not flashy but amped up with old school power. Leave the Camaro for the baseball cap and goatee crowd, the SS shows off true muscle car heritage. And not just typical American muscle, as the SS actually comes from our brothers down under, Australia, which boasts a similarly rich history of car enthusiasts.

Hands on: Microsoft Surface Laptop review

Update: You’ll be able to “easily switch to Windows 10 Pro for free until Dec 31, 2017” according to the official product page (under the “Software” section in Tech Specs), although it’s worth noting that the upgrade is irreversible.

The one Surface product that fans have been clamoring over for years, a straight up Surface Laptop, is finally here. But, in taking design cues from both the Surface Pro and Surface Book lines, Microsoft has set lofty expectations for its first dedicated laptop device.

Priced at $999 (about £770, AU$1,330), the Surface Laptop clearly aims to chip at the MacBook and MacBook Air models that dominate college campuses practically worldwide. In fact, Microsoft claims that its cheaper (and larger) Surface Laptop can last far longer on a charge than Apple’s 12-inch MacBook: 14.5 hours.

Focal Sphear review

9eUVsGTVK5yktHsUHm2tHC-1200-80

Focal, an audio company based out of France and most well known for its superior quality loudspeakers, wowed the world with the introduction of its line of headphones. The $4,000 Utopia shook up the audiophile headphone market and the equally impressive budget-friendly Focal Listen helped introduce amateur AV enthusiasts to a brand they might not have ever known.

So what is the company doing about the portable listening audience? For them, Focal created its first ever in-ear headphone, the Sphear. These $150 (£100, AU$220) headphones look and sound great and are perfect for anyone looking for lightweight, portable headphones with a touch of class and rich sound.

2017 Tao Tao Racer 50 Review

The classic swing-mount scooter drivetrain lends itself to a wide variety of applications, but it’s fair to say that all of them wind up looking like a scooter — except for this one. Tao Tao calls this the Racer50, and it brings a streetbike look and feel to the table that you normally don’t get from something that is technically still a scooter even if it does have a freakishly (for a scooter) big 17-inch front wheel. A 49 cc mill pushes the full front fairing and sportbike-like upper lines at around 30-plus mph, and it handles more like a proper motorcycle in the corners. Based in mainland China, Tao Tao is a little-known manufacturer in the U.S., so I decided to take a look at this interesting ride and see what this “little guy” has to offer.

Design

2016-taotao-racer50-3_800x0w

Really, this is where all the magic happens. A 17-inch wheel leads the way ahead of the full sportbike fairing. Not only is this comparable to many of the current literbikes, but it contributes to handling that you just can’t get from your typical scooter.

Hands-on Review : Sling Studio Lets You Broadcast Live Video Like a Pro

There’s no shortage of devices that can film sharp, high-def video, whether it’s your smartphone, a webcam or a pro-grade broadcast rig. But the real challenge is putting all those devices together into something that looks as good as the multicam broadcasts you see on TV. The new Sling Studio promises to allow almost anyone to make professional-quality live video for thousands less than a traditional setup.

The heart of the whole setup is the $999 Sling Studio. Due out in May, the Studio is a small white box not much bigger than a football that features built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi that wirelessly aggregates and archives up to 10 difference 1080p video sources. Video is sent to the Sling Studio over the air from any iOS or Android device using Sling’s free Capture App, or via a traditional camera with one of Sling’s $349 CameraLink wireless transmitters. And the best part is, this whole kit can go anywhere you want, as the Studio sports a bottom-mounted rechargeable battery good for up to 3 hours.

Windows 10 S Unveiled: Here’s How It’s Different

Microsoft (May 2) announced Windows 10 S, an education-focused version of Windows 10 that runs only preinstalled applications or apps downloaded from the Windows Store. It’s Microsoft’s answer to Google’s Chrome OS, a cloud-based operating system that has has been particularly popular in schools. Windows 10 S will launch this summer on PCs starting at $189.

desktop

The company detailed the operating system at an education-focused event in New York. Microsoft executive vice president Terry Myerson said Windows 10 S is streamlined for simplicity, and has superior performance, but he claimed the S stands for the “soul” of Windows. The stripped-down OS, he added, is designed for creative use in and out of the classroom.

The only apps that run on Windows 10 S are those that are preloaded on the machines, and those are downloaded from the Windows Store. Myerson said that these restrictions are for safety and security. (He added that Office 365 will soon come to the Windows Store.) Windows 10 S will also work with upcoming mixed-reality headsets and other peripherals, Myerson said.

Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 520 Review: Behind the Times

With sleek new designs, enhanced audio technology and clever cable management, gaming headsets are better than they’ve ever been. The Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 520 ($130), on the other hand, is pretty much the same thing that the estimable ear-wear company has been putting out for the last few years. To its credit, the PS4-centric Stealth 520 provides good audio for games and can give competitive players a welcome edge, with detailed surround sound. On the other hand, its dated design and problematic mic make it a tough sell compared to some of its more refined competitors.

One thing Turtle Beach has always done well is exercise restraint in headset design. Turtle Beach peripherals are elegant and economical, and the Stealth 520 is no exception. Galaxy S8 Screen Protectors Tested Hands-on: Better Off Naked

There are few things I hate more than putting a case on a smartphone. Companies spend millions of dollars designing something sleek, beautiful and futuristic. So what do people do? Slap on a boring, clunky $20 case (probably in black) that adds weight and thickness to the phone in exchange for a little extra durability.

And you know what? Even with that added protection, you’re probably still going to crack the screen.

Zagg screen protectors on the Galaxy S8

Zagg screen protectors on the Galaxy S8Still, I understand the desire to protect a device that, in the case of the Galaxy S8, puts a $750 dent in your wallet. And that brings us to the allure of screen protectors, such as the Glass Curve for the Galaxy S8 from Zagg. For $50, you can beef up the most delicate part of your phone and make it less vulnerable to cracking, spills, or simple wear and tear. On top of that, these protectors don’t affect the phone’s design nearly as much as a big, bulky case would.

Garmin Vivosmart 3 review : Watch out Fitbit, Garmin’s going for an all-rounder

Garmin has re-angled the Vivosmart to make it better competition for Fitbit. The loss of GPS is a shame, even though distance tracking on the 3 is good. But as a daily activity tracker this still offers a lot, including the bonus of stress tracking. The $140 price tag doesn’t hurt either, while waterproofing gives it an edge of many of its rivals. It’s just a shame it doesn’t look nicer.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Garmin Vivosmart 3

Now that it’s unleashed its army of new Fenix 5 watches, Garmin is turning back to the fitness tracker with the Garmin Vivosmart 3. “But where was the Vivosmart 2?” we hear you cry. Well, the Vivosmart HR+ kind of filled that role, but the new tracker is also a bit of a step-change from Garmin.

Fitness is still very much on the agenda, with Garmin debuting VO2 Max tracking alongside exercise detection, rep counting, and of course a heart rate monitor. But there’s also more of a focus on day-to-day wellness with stress tracking, guided breathing exercises and sleep monitoring too. This is a wearable clearly designed to go head-to-head with Fitbit’s latest including the Fitbit Alta HR.

Pure Evoke H2 review

Place the new Pure Evoke H2 radio next to its predecessor, the Evoke D2, and you’d be hard-pressed to tell them apart. Both radios have identical faces and controls.

Sound

So, what changes have been made? According to Pure’s engineers, the H2 has less distortion in the lower frequencies.

This is through tweaking the circuitry, as well as using an ABS composite cabinet (rather than the MDF used for the D2) with internal ribbing to reduce unwanted resonances.

The H2 does sound hollower than the D2 does when you tap its body, so you might fall under the false impression that the H2 is a cheaper model. However, once you’ve listened to it, there’s no doubt this Pure is an upgrade.

Mercedes-AMG GLC43 v Porsche Macan GTS comparison

Buying a luxury SUV is confusing. There are so many sizes, so many options and so many brands all offering what would, on paper at least, seem like a great purchase.

Mercedes-AMG GLC43 v Porsche Macan GTS comparison

On the smaller end of the scale, the likes of the Porsche Macan GTS and Mercedes-AMG GLC43 go head-to-head for dominance in the all-important performance SUV war of the Germans.

The Porsche Macan is arguably the one SUV that, for the last few years at least, has truly put the ‘Sports’ into that acronym – the model which all other models are now benchmarked against.

The Macan range is vast and extensive, but the GTS version gets more power, uprated interior and a few other bits and pieces thrown in, compared to the regular S. It’s Porsche’s way of still dragging you up from the Macan S when you can’t go all the way to the Macan Turbo.

Nikon D7500 vs Pentax K-3 II Comparison

This Nikon D7500 vs Pentax K-3 II Comparison comparison shows what separates these DSLRs with a view of featured categories.

Pentax K-3 II features a 24.35 effective megapixel APS-c sensor. It has built-in 5-axis stabilization and the option of turning off the AA filter effect. Dustproof, weather-resistant construction is ideal for capturing shots outdoors.

Xiaomi Weloop Hey 3S New Smart Watch Hands-on Review : release date, specs, price

Xiaomi released a new product. Yes, it sounds a little ordinary, considering that various announcements, presentations, insiders from Xioami we hear every day. But this time something really interesting appeared. At least the name does not begin with the word Mi.

2018 Buick Enclave Review

Introduced in 2008 as a more upscale version of the Chevrolet Traverse and a replacement for both the Rainier and Terraza, the Enclave quickly became one of Buick’s most popular modern nameplates in the U.S. and a big hit in China. After nearly ten years on the market, the first-generation Enclave was retired to make way for a brand-new model. Not only redesigned from a clean sheet inside and out, the new Enclave also rides GM’s fresh 1XX platform and uses the company’s latest V-6 engine. It also packs an array of new tech and safety features, as well as premium materials inside the cabin.

Introduced at the 2017 New York Auto Show, the new Enclave draws its styling cues from the recently unveiled Avenir and Avistaconcept. What’s more, it was used to introduce Buick’s new luxurysub-brand. Released under the Avenir name, it will be offered as a range-topping trim with higher quality materials and exclusive features. On paper, the new Enclave has what it takes to move Buick higher in the premium class. Find out how it stacks up against the competition in the comprehensive review below.
