The Toshiba OCZ VX500 (256GB, 512GB, 1024GB) SSD Review

Toshiba’s new OCZ VX500 is launching into what has been the quietest corner of the SSD market: SATA drives using MLC NAND flash. The fiercest competition has been among low-cost TLC SSDs and the PCIe SSD segment has seen several new entrants in recent months, but the mid- to high-end portion of the SATA SSD market has been in a holding pattern awaiting new 3D NAND. The OCZ VX500 is not a new 3D NAND SSD but a stopgap product to replace the aging OCZ Vector 180, known as the VT180 since Toshiba’soverhaul of OCZ branding earlier this year.

The Barefoot 3 controller in the Vector 180 is ancient, having launched with the original OCZ Vector in 2012. At the time, it performed well enough to go up against Samsung’s best in the consumer market and was viable in the enterprise market. As the market has moved on and caught up, the limitations of the Barefoot 3 controller have become increasingly awkward. Most prominently, it does not support SATA link power management and consequently products based on it have by far the worst idle power of any consumer SATA SSD on the market. It was never intended for use with TLC NAND or 3D NAND, and may not even be able to work with Toshiba’s 15nm MLC NAND.

2016 Ford F-150 5.0L V-8 4×4 vs. 2016 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost 4×4 – Comparison Tests

This article is part of our special feature exploring turbocharged vs. naturally aspirated engines, for which we conducted four head-to-head matchups of turbocharged vehicles and their non-turbo competitors. Beware: These are not conventional comparison tests. We focused these stories on the characteristics of the engines and judging the suitability of engine type for each class of vehicle.

When it comes to trucks, the engine inspires as much loyalty as the vehicle it powers. Mazda’s Skyactiv or Hyundai’s Tau engines will never haul in the licensing profits of the Power Stroke, Duramax, or Cummins names. And in light-duty trucks, the displacement also becomes the brand. A Ram isn’t just powered by a Hemi, it’s a “Five-Seven.” ASilverado destined to earn its living better have the “Six-Two.” And if you were serious about building an F-series for work, it used to be that you ordered the old “Five-Four.”

Specs Comparison : Acer Liquid Zest Plus VS ASUS Zenfone Max

For under Php8K, you’ll get a smartphone with a 5.5-inch HD display, quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, and a large 5,000mAh battery. We can’t help but compare it to another smartphone with similar specs, the ASUS Zenfone Max. Check out our quick comparison below to see which one is better on paper.

Looking at the summary above, it looks like the Acer Liquid Zest Plus has more advantages over the ASUS Zenfone Max. When it comes to camera, it has PDAF in addition to Laser AF, as oppesed to the Max that has only Laser AF. In addition, it also has DTS HD Audio and a slimmer and lighter build.

Hands on: Jumper EZpad 5S review

Microsoft’s Surface 3 was, at least in the subdued PC market, a relative success, selling well despite a rather steep price point for what it provides hardware-wise (something we criticised).

At nearly £500 ($690 in the US, which is around AU$920) when you factor in the detachable keyboard and the stylus, it comes across as an expensive tablet even by Microsoft’s standards, especially as the competition has heated up in the 2-in-1 segment.

So it comes as no surprise that, just like the MacBook Pro and the Yoga 3 (both of which had very similar competitors in the shape of the Xiaomi Air 12 and theVoyo VBook V3), the Surface 3 has attracted the attention of one Chinese vendor, Jumper.

Breitling Superocean Heritage Chronoworks Watch Hands-On

This Breitling Superocean Heritage Chronoworks watch costs about $40,000. If you haven’t already noticed, pricing doesn’t always seem to make sense in the watch world. There are times when otherwise interesting watches are marred by having retail prices which simply confound the consumer’s sense of reason. Sometimes those prices are actually too high, and other times the prices are fair but the consumer doesn’t understand or appreciate the reason for the high cost. In either event, pricing practices often don’t meld with consumer expectations or perceived values. It is perhaps the biggest “issue” the luxury industry faces, given the highly active watch lover community, and the conversations contained therein, that seek to validate or veto many decisions the watch industry makes.

Ruark Audio R2 Mk3 review

Ruark Audio is a company better known for its bedside digital audio broadcast (DAB) radios, but with the R2 Mk3 the company is embracing the world of internet-connected streaming services.

It’s a great pairing, surprisingly. Ruark has always managed to do great things when it comes to getting the most out of music over DAB, and its Ruark Audio R4, which we reviewed last year, showed what the company was capable of when it came to CD audio.

The R2 follows the same design cues as the R4, but it sheds the latter’s CD drive and adds Spotify connect support which, in addition to its AM, FM, DAB, Internet Radio, Bluetooth aptX and USB playback, means that it’s a very well connected speaker indeed.

Samsung Gear Icon X review

When Samsung announced the Gear Icon X in June, the odds for success were stacked in its favor. But now, things are different. Apple launched its AirPods alongside the iPhone 7, and Bragi has stepped up with a new, improved (and cheaper) set of wireless earphones, to name a few high-profile examples.

Despite the increase in competition, the Gear Icon X nail the basics (no easy feat) and even offer a few perks that the others don’t. But it comes at a higher $199 (£169, AU$279) price point, which puts Samsung’s offering well above the $159 and $149 tags on the AirPods and the upcoming Bragi Headphone, respectively.

All in all, the Gear Icon X are an impressive feat of engineering that deliver basic fitness tracking features and serviceable sound quality. But the high price, spotty battery life and occasional signal drop-outs serve as constant reminders that, if this really is the future of headphones, we’re content at the moment being stuck in the past.

2017 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide First Ride Review

Every year Harley-Davidson releases special models from its Custom Vehicle Operations skunkworks. These limited-edition factory customs are chosen to represent the best that Harley has to offer, which is usually based on the most popular models the manufacturer sells. This year, for our test of a 2017 CVO model, we chose the CVO Street Glide. We did this for two reasons. First, we’d get to do a true apples-to-apples comparison since we were also testing the standardStreet Glide. This perspective would give us the opportunity to see what similarities and differences the Milwaukee-Eight107 had with the Milwaukee-Eight 114 bruiser. Second, we last tested the CVO Street Glide in model year 2015, which would give us a good impression of how far the model has come in two model years.

HiMedia Q5 Pro Review : HiMedia Strikes Again!

The HiMedia Q5 Pro is the company’s latest Android TV box. Following in the footsteps of the excellent HiMedia Q10 Pro, the HiMedia is effectively a budget version, losing the 3.5″ Harddrives Bay  and halting the amount of onboard storage in exchange for a smaller footprint and price.

Onkyo W800BT review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Onkyo W800BT review

We’re really hoping the Onkyo W800BT in-ears are superb. When you’ve been lured in by something that seems too good to be true, it’s disappointing to find that it is, indeed, too good to be true.

Hopes are routinely shattered upon the rocks of reality, as they were with our first experience of a pair of truly wireless in-ear headphones, the Motorola Verve Ones+.

These sporty in-ears suffered from a number of fatal issues, but now the Onkyo W800BTs have the chance to reaffirm our faith in the concept.

Build

Traditional wireless in-ear headphones aren’t actually wireless. They are in the sense you can stream audio to them over Bluetooth, but there’s always an umbilical cord connecting the two, usually with in-line controls and a mic for taking hands-free calls.

It’s Close, but iPhone 7’s Camera Still Can’t Top Samsung

While their resolution may have stayed the same, the 12-megapixel rear cameras in Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus look offer a big improvement in picture quality. Not only does the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus both sport a cameras with optical image stabilization, a larger f/1.8 aperture and an upsized sensor with bigger pixels, Apple has tacked a second camera onto the iPhone 7 Plus with a 2x optical zoom.

But this is 2016, and Apple isn’t the only company that can put great cameras on its smartphones. So in order to see which handset is the best shooter on the market, we put both iPhone 7s up against Samsung’s 12-MP S7 Edge to see which phone can claim the title for the best camera.

Nevo Balade Parisienne Review : Watch Out for This Limited Fitness Tracker

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Nevo Balade Parisienne

As devices designed to be worn 24/7, it stands to reason that fitness trackers should look good on your wrist. Some of the newer, and more compelling, branches of these gadgets are fitness trackers that look like traditional wristwatches. The Nevo Balade Parisienne ($169) is one such timepiece, joining the likes of the Withings Steel as a fitness tracker in disguise. However, this watch isn’t much more than a pretty face.

Design

At first glance, the Nevo looks like any other analog wristwatch. Similar to theWithings Activite, the Nevo has a minimalist look, with only an hour and minute hand, and only tick marks (and not numbers) to mark the passage of time.

BlitzWolf Braided MFi Lightning Cable Review

BlitzWolf are rapidly making a name for themselves in the accessory space.

At under $10, their braided MFi-certified Lighting cable is one of the cheapest Lighting cables around.

Design

The BlitzWolf Lightning cable is designed to be a more durable version of Apple’s own Lightning cables. Blitzwolf have taken Apple’s basic cable and beefed up the connectors and cabling.

The cable features a braided cover that helps it resist tangles and improve durability. It’s 1 meter long which is fine, though it also comes in a 2m variant for those wanting a longer cable.

Lenovo Ideapad Y900 Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Lenovo Ideapad Y900 Review

The Ideapad Y900 is the gaming notebook that I’ve been wanting from Lenovo for a long time. It’s edgy and stylish with an amazing customizable mechanical keyboard, lovely G-Sync capable display and overclockable processor. However, with the launch of VR-capable Nvidia’s Pascal GPUs, the laptop’s last-gen video card is a penny short and a day too late, especially with a $2,426 price tag.

Lenovo has already announced plans to offer a refreshed model of the Y900 with Pascal graphics sometime later this year, so gamers who want the best performance should strongly consider waiting for the updated config.

Canon EOS M5 : What you need to know

With a 24MP sensor and Dual Pixel autofocus, Canon’s new EOS M5 is the mirrorless camera that a lot of Canon fans have been waiting for.

Canon EOS M5: What you need to know

We had the chance to get our hands on a pre-production model earlier this summer and in this article, we’ll give you a quick tour of the M5’s key features and controls.

The DSLR-styled EOS M5 is the most advanced M-series camera yet, and borrows a lot from the EOS 80D, including a Digic 7 processor and equivalent (Canon claims) Dual Pixel AF performance. As such, among other things we’d expect it to be capable of very good image quality, and better Raw dynamic range than its predecessors.

Despite its small size, the M5 boasts a generous hand-grip, which makes it very comfortable to hold. It doesn’t have the heft of one of Canon’s DSLRs, but we wouldn’t expect it to. That said, the M5’s construction is top notch and at 427g  (15.1oz), the body has a reassuring weight.

Samsung Gear S3 Frontier review : A guide to the rugged smartwatch

There isn’t much separating the new Samsung Gear S3 variants except for style but in a way, that’s a big deal. Though both smartwatches are ruggedized, the Gear S3 Frontier looks like its built to withstand more outdoor activity.

Again, this doesn’t mean the Classic can’t – but you’re more likely to wear the Classic into the office as is, where you’d probably change out the Frontier’s band for say, a leather design.

Gear S3 Frontier guide

However, if you’re after the standalone model, only the Frontier will be able to field calls and texts without a phone thanks to the onboard LTE.

Mazda CX-9 Azami v Toyota Kluger Grande comparison

If you’re looking for a seven-seat SUV there’s a fair chance the Toyota Kluger would have been on your shopping list at some point – and with good reason. It’s stylish, well packaged, competitively priced and has dominated sales in its segment for ages.

But what if you want something newer – maybe a bit more stylish – with more modern features and a more technologically advanced engine? You could consider the new-generation Mazda CX-9. And while the Kluger is decently priced, the Mazda is quite a bit cheaper.

Huawei nova plus review : Renovation

Introduction

The Huawei nova plus is one half of the nova pair that debuted at IFA just weeks ago. It’s a new generation of an Android smartphone by Huawei, mixing midrange with flagship, premium with everyday, trying to deliver a fresh experience in an increasingly busy market.

The nova and nova plus handsets take a step back from the P-lineup, but offer the same attention to detail and user experience. These could easily replace the Honor devices, which are sort of stand-alone brand that’s not available everywhere where Huawei is.

A camera-centric phablet with a pinch of Mate in it is what the Huawei nova plus represents. The regular Huawei nova is slightly more compact, but still a 5-incher.

Seals Model A Watch Review

Once in a while you luck out and get to review a watch you’ve already seen and been interested in, and this time it was the Seals Watch Co. Model A. I had originally taken note of this watch when stumbling upon their original Kickstarter campaign back in 2014. But, being a skeptic of crowdfunded watch projects, I sort of held my interest at arms length while still keeping tabs on Seals Watch Co. and the progress and development of their inaugural creation. After a while, it had become apparent that the design had won me over, yet what about the execution? It was this long lingering curiosity that made me pounce at the offer to see (and review) one myself.

2017 KAWASAKI Z125 PRO REVIEW

I pulled up to a red light on a beautiful summer afternoon, heard a car horn, and turned to see a grinning driver leaning out his window.

“What is that?” he asked. I responded that it was the new baby Kawasaki. He pressed me for details, ignoring the light as it changed to green. I had to cut him off with a wave as I sped off before it changed back again.

This was a regular occurrence during my time with the Z125 Pro, the newest and smallest street bike from Kawasaki. It drew attention from riders and non-riders alike. I got more smiles and thumbs-up than I have with any other vehicle I have ever ridden or driven.

TOMTOM RIDER 400 REVIEW

Google “Motorcycle GPS.” Go ahead, I’ll wait. Now let me guess what you’ve found: The Garmin Zumo and the TomTom Rider.

True, many riders are now opting for smartphones, but motorcycle GPS devices haven’t been put out of business yet, but as the current choices suggest, that day is approaching fast. TomTom has been evolving its Rider GPS ever since its 2005 debut in the hopes of keeping it from extinction and its current model, the Rider 400, is a clear reflection of the market reality. The company abandoned its proprietary software in favor of a customized Android build for the Rider 400, an interesting move to say the least. The result is a good choice for motorcyclists who do not want to mount their smartphone to their handlebars (more on this later). Here’s a look at its features and how it stacks up to its one competitor.

2016 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT 392 REVIEW

Between the fervor caused by the supercharged, 707 horsepower SRT Hellcat and the revelation that nearly 500 ponies can be had for less than $40k by opting for an R/T Scat Pack, the SRT 392 has become something of a neglected middle child in the Challenger lineup, more or less splitting the difference between the two in terms of features, looks, performance, and price.

While the shadow of its boosted brethren looms large and the less expensive alternative offers identical power output, the SRT 392 is a compelling option in its own right, boasting the grip, braking, and similar suspension components to its top-spec SRT counterpart but with a noticeable amount of weight taken off of the front of the car and cost removed from the bottom line.

2016-dodge-challenger-srt-392-side-800x533-c

And although it shares a power plant with the Scat Pack model, the upgrades here go beyond standard equipment like the 900 watt audio system and leather seating. But is it worth the premium over the Scat Pack? And on the other end of spectrum, does the SRT 392 fall short of greatness simply because it’s not an SRT Hellcat? I grabbed the keys to this B5 Blue, six-speed manual transmission-equipped tester and hit the streets of Los Angeles to find out.

LENOVO MOTO G4 PLAY REVIEW

Google’s Android motto for the past year or so has been “Be together. Not the same.” Under Lenovo, Motorola may have lost the memo because there’s not much distinguishing the Moto G4 Play from a Nexus, at least on the software side.

That hardly means we’re complaining about having stock Android on a device that’s not a part of Google’s Nexus lineup. But when comparing the G4 Play to its predecessor, the 2016 variant feels like an afterthought — a step back after what the Moto G 2015 offered for a budget device. Lenovo has removed the features that make Moto phones unique, from the inside out.

The new Moto G4 Play leaves us with a phone that offers no compelling features, just a low price tag. Let’s take a closer look.
