NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (Max-Q) vs GTX 1060 (Laptop) – performance, gaming and temperatures

Not long ago NVIDIA announced its new series of notebook graphics cards – Max-Q which is set to forever change the mobile gaming world. The goal of Max-Q is to make powerful yet slim, light and quiet gaming notebooks. This is accomplished through precious engineering and lots of hours of development.

The first notebooks to feature a Max-Q graphics card are already on the market and one of them is the HP Omen 15 latest version. It features a Max-Q version of the GeForce GTX 1060 and falls into the category of mid-range gaming devices. Its rival today will be the Lenovo Legion Y720 equipped with a standard GTX 1060 – Lenovo’s most profound gaming notebook to date.

But a thin notebook usually has problems with the cooling system. Is the Max-Q as reliable as a normal GPU and does it perform adequately? We are going to answer these two questions today.

Design

The HP Omen 15 equipped with a Max-Q GTX 1060 isn’t the lightest nor the thinnest notebook out there but measures a fairly small footprint for a gaming laptop. It weighs 2.62 kg and has a profile of 24.8 mm. Nothing like the ASUS Rog Zephyrus with it 17.9 mm but still thin. The Lenovo Y720 isn’t much thicker – 25.8 mm but it is considerably heavier with its 3.094 kg.

Phiaton BT 460 Bluetooth headphone review: Sleek, smart, and feature rich. But they sound best wired

Innovative features and strong battery life set these headphones apart from the pack. Unfortunately, their Bluetooth audio performance falls short.

Phiaton (pronounced FEE’ ah ton) derives its name from the Greek letter ϕ or “Phi” which was often used to represent the golden ratio. “Ton” has a double-meaning. It’s a nod to the word “tone,” which in English refers to the character and quality of sound. In French, “ton” to mean fashionable style.

Phiaton attempts to express all of those virtues in the company’s BT 460 Bluetooth wireless headphones. My review pair came in the newly released violet color, affectionately called the “Teddy Edition” on the packaging. Opening up the package, there’s a clear nod to style in these headphones. There seems to be this consistent, almost perfectly symmetrical oval theme to everything in the headphones. The ear cups and the ear pads have the same symmetry. This extends all the way to the shape of the including carrying case, which expresses almost the same exact oval shape and ratio. It’s no wonder Phiaton won the iF Product Design Award, among others, in 2016.

Audi TT RS Coupe v Porsche 718 Cayman S comparison

It’s around 240km between Audi‘s Ingolstadt base and Porsche‘s Stuttgart headquarters. But when it comes to deciding on the best approach to building the best circa-$140k sports car, the two brands couldn’t be further apart.

The cars

2017 Audi TT RS Coupe versus 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman S. Front-engine versus mid-engine. All-wheel drive versus rear-wheel drive. Five cylinders versus four.

Here we have two highly desirable sports cars that each tackle the same segment, but in very different ways.

The Audi TT RS Coupe sits atop its respective model line, priced $37,045 more than the 2.0-litre four-cylinder TT S, and undercutting the ‘entry-level’ V10-powered Audi R8 by more than $218,300.

Motorola Moto C Plus Hands-on Review : First Impressions

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Motorola Moto C Plus Hands-on Review : First Impressions

Motorola released a slew of new smartphones to the market this year. And while the Moto Z2 Play leads the pack, we should acknowledge its siblings as well.

Enter the Motorola Moto C Plus — one of the company’s entry level smartphone.

The Moto C Plus is Motorola’s second cheapest offering after the Moto C. It sports a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, which equates to 294ppi.

On its front panel, you will see the 2MP fixed focus front camera accompanied by a LED flash, a voice receiver, and the Moto logo underneath it. On the bottom, you will find the capacitive buttons.

Tronsmart Presto 10000mAh Powerbank Hands-On Review

With plethora of powerbanks flooding the market right now, we know how difficult it is to pick one that actually fits your budget and needs. Well, we’re about to add up another powerbank to your list of choices as a new powerbank was sent to us from folks at Quantum Mobile Gears, introducing the Tronsmart Presto 10000mAh Powerbank with Quick Charge 3.0 (PBT10).

The Tronsmart Presto powerbank carries, as what the title suggests, 10000mAh which can deliver 4x faster charging speed. And most importantly, it bears Huawei FCP (Fast Charger Protocol) fast charging technology and VoltiQ, which detects charging current and delivery maximum current.

The entire powerbank has a smooth and matte polycarbonate finish which is pretty neat, however, this also means it is sensitive to scratches. As you can see up top, there are four dot lights which indicate the powerbank’s battery status.

On the lower right side of the device, we have the power button.

Lotus Evora GT430 Review

Feast your eyes on this beauty. This is the new Lotus Evora GT430 and it’s the fastest, lightest, and most powerful road-going Lotus ever made. That’s a lot of superlatives right there, and for good reason. No other production Lotus in the company’s long and proud history can match wits with the Evora GT430, and that includes the Evora 410,the predecessor to the GT430 that also held all those titles before the Evora GT430 came along.

There are a lot of reasons to get excited about Lotus’ new baby, not the least of which are the distinctions that it already has. In addition to that, though, this two-seater sports car is also going to be a lot more exclusive than any special edition Lotus Evora before it. Only 60 units are planned for the model. Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales calls the Evora GT430 “a true track-and-back sports car,” and there’s really no reason to argue those sentiments. It looks like an all-conquering roadster, has a surprisingly posh interior, and packs enough power to reach speeds in excess of 190 mph. Really, what more do you want out of a Lotus that the Evora GT430 doesn’t provide?

Monster Superstar RaveBox Review: A Booming But Flawed Party Speaker

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Monster Superstar RaveBox

Some Bluetooth speakers are meant to play really loud audio, some are designed to be extremely portable and others are made to be on the forefront of product design and technology. The $429 Monster Superstar RaveBox does a little bit of everything, offering loud, clear audio with a dome of flashing lights that makes the speaker a virtual party in a box — albeit a large and expensive one. However, the absence of essential buttons and a karaoke microphone is a puzzling choice that keeps the RaveBox from reaching its full potential.

Design

The RaveBox, the second product in Monster”s boom-box series, takes its design cues from the Monster Blaster. Similarly styled with a rounded, triangular shape; a padded carrying handle; and aluminum grilles, the RaveBox is a modern take on the boom box that adds a few new features.

Nokia 5 vs Moto G5: Which mid-range mobile is best for me?

We compare the new Nokia 5 and Moto G5 mobile phones, two Android handsets with a sub-£200 asking price here in the UK. From the design and specs to the camera tech, which mid-range mobile is best for you?

Nokia launched three new Android phones back at the beginning of 2017: the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, which all sport very different sizes and specs.

However different these Nokia blowers may be, the link between all three of these new mobiles is value for money. These handsets all come packing an attractive, affordable UK asking price, to appease everyday consumers.

The piggy-in-the-middle Nokia 5 can be yours for just £180/$234, which makes it a direct rival to the rather good Motorola Moto G5. Like the Moto handset, the Nokia offers Android Nougat in an uncluttered form, respectable performance, fast charge abilities, expandable storage and a 13-megapixel camera to snap your life. So far, so very similar.

What can you buy for the same price as a Leica TL2 and lens?

A look at what you can get for the same outlay as Leica’s newest mirrorless model.

Everybody knows that Leica is not the brand for the budget conscious. As a bit of fun, we’ve had a look at what you can buy for the same price as the brand new Leica TL2, the company’s latest mirrorless camera.

The benchmark here is the body only price of the TL2, which is £1700/$2,210, plus at least one lens starting at £1300/$1,690. So, that gives us £3,000/$3,900 to play with on our fantasy shopping list. Which would you go for?

Razer Blade Pro (2017) Review

Like Will Smith in the film Men in Black, Razer makes this look good. Somehow, the company manages to maintain its razor-thin (pun definitely intended) margins while cramming in some of the most powerful specs in the land. With the latest Razer Blade Pro (starting and reviewed at $3,999), the company has added an overclocked Intel i7 processor while keeping the Nvidia GTX 1080 GPU, fantastic 4K Nvidia G-Sync display and proprietary ultra-low-profile mechanical keys. If that wasn’t enough, the slim stunner is also the first mobile device to feature THX audio certification. In other words, one of the best in the business just got better.

Design

There’s just something about a Razer laptop that makes the pulse quicken ever so slightly when you see it. Constructed from black CNC aluminum, the Blade Pro follows the Razer design dictates to a T, just on a bigger scale. The center of the laptop’s lid is slightly recessed, creating a pair of subtle ridges that help accentuate the glimmering emerald three-headed snake emblem.

KEF LS50 Wireless review

When someone says the words ‘hi-fi system’, what do you think of? If you’re anything like us, you’ve just pictured a separates combination made up of source – maybe a streamer, CD player or record player – an amplifier and a pair of speakers.

If we could go back 40 years and ask the same question, we suspect any enthusiast would have given a very similar answer minus the digital sources, of course.

While hi-fi has certainly improved and been developed over the decades, on a fundamental level it’s arguably barely evolved at all.

Active speakers

Active speakers, while nothing new, could be a building block for an alternative solution.

On a purely technical level they have clear performance benefits and certainly reduce the box count, but many enthusiasts don’t like the lack of easy upgradability or the low perceived value; they’re always far pricier than their passive relatives due to cost the power amplification inside. You would still need to add a preamp and a range of sources too.

Rotel RAP-1580 Hands on Review

Safe to say we haven’t been deluged with Rotel home cinema products lately. If a week is a long time in politics, eight years is an eternity in home entertainment technology – yet our last test of a Rotel AV receiver dates from 2009. Which goes some way to explaining how pleased we are to have laid hands on Rotel’s brand-new multichannel amp: the RAP-1580.

rap1580_lifestyle2

Build

There are no real suprises here. Just as it’s hard to break away from the visual template of home cinema amplifiers (because of all that’s going on inside), it’s hard to deliver an expensively an specified home cinema amp that isn’t heavy enough to stun an ox. The RAP-1580 tries its best to hide its bulk – those curved edges help here – but it’s not going to pass unnoticed on your equipment rack.

2016-2017 Yamaha YZF-R1/YZF-R1S/YZF-R1M Review

The YZF-R1 family brings MotoGP styling and performance normally only experienced by the privileged few to the streets for consumption by the “everyman.” Blessed with DNA from the purpose-built YZR-M1 (Mission One) racebike, the R1 range comes with varying levels of race-tastic features, though all three siblings could be considered as racy as one could possibly need outside a closed-circuit course. An on-board gyro enables a number of digital rider aids, such as the bank-sensitive traction control, slide control, ABS and more. Yamaha used its four-cylinder, Crossplane Concept engine to power the R1 family, the same mill as the FZ-10/MT-10, just in a more track-oriented package. Sales in recent years have begun to shift away from the supersportsas buyers began to favor naked/streetfighter bikes, and this M1-based trifecta represents a significant push into a waning market. Are they trying to reinvigorate the class, or just trying to grab what is left of that slice of the market? Time will tell, meanwhile let’s check out what Yamaha did to bait the table.

Xiaomi Mi VR 3.5K Panorama Camera Review: Great Hardware For 360° Content, But Software Needs Work

Mi VR 3.5K Cam (10)

Design & Built

The Xiaomi Mi VR 360° camera comes in an elegant black shade. You get a matte like texture on the front as well as the back, while the sides get a smoother finish. I love the overall compact design of the device and the fact that it’s hard to get scratches on the body makes me love it even more! Often while taking 360° pictures or videos, you have to keep the camera in rocky terrains or sandy beaches and so far, my Mi VR camera has managed to survive them all without any significant scratches. Of course, I have not yet dropped it to see if it survives, but I don’t have the courage to see what’ll happen in such a situation. But don’t be shy to expose your Mi VR camera in different terrains to get the perfect 360° shots.

The mini tripod comes with the camera itself and does a fine job of keeping the camera study in different terrains. Even when it was raining and things were a bit slippery, the tripod managed to keep the camera intact. This along with the protective sleeve (which is also included in the box) makes up for the perfect pair of accessories for the camera.

Porsche Design Book One Review

Should you get a convertible 2-in-1 or a detachable 2-in-1? Why not both? The Porsche Design Book One ($2,495) flips all the way around, but the display is also detachable for use as a lighter slate. And, coming from Porsche Design, it has an impeccable, clean look that accentuates its function. The Book One’s display is insanely bright and vivid and the stylus is comfortable to hold, but when it comes to performance and battery life, companies that have spent more time making laptops outperformed this looker.

Design

You don’t pay $2,495 for a laptop from Porsche Design without one thing in mind above all else: form that accentuates function. The Book One is largely a winner in that regard. It’s a laptop that not only takes being a workhorse seriously, but also innovation, as it’s the first convertible 2-in-1 with a detachable display.

LG X Venture Review: Rugged Phone, Civilized Price

Kết quả hình ảnh cho LG X Venture

For years, AT&T has taken Samsung Galaxy phones, given them a tough and rugged makeover, and slapped the new model with an energetic name tag like “Active” or “Sport.” Unfortunately, those phones kept their flagship price tags. AT&T is taking a different tack with the LG X Venture, which woos more budget-conscious buyers.

The $330 phone features a 5.2-inch screen, chunky chin-mounted physical buttons instead of typical touch controls, a big built-in battery and military-grade durability. And even though the X Venture’s performance and specs could stand a little improvement, there’s definitely some value to this phone’s blend of reasonable price and rumble-ready durability.

Design: Not your typical house cat

At first glance, the X Venture’s big rubbery buttons below its screen let you know it isn’t a phone that needs to be coddled or covered in a case. The phone’s metal frame wraps around every corner to better protect it from drops, while its back is swathed in a grippy silicone to help prevent those falls from happening in the first place.

Gigabyte SabrePro 15 review

OUR VERDICT

The Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is one of the most decked-out affordable gaming laptops that works well for both tight budgets and those looking for a potent machine.

FOR

  • Affordable price
  • Class-leading performance
  • Excellent keyboard and touchpad

AGAINST

  • Below average battery life
  • Underwhelming speakers and display
  • Slower SSD storage in retail units

Since Nvidia 10-series Pascal GPUs hit the scene, there haven’t been many truly affordable and powerful gaming laptops. Instead, we’ve had to choose between mid-range Nvidia GTX 1060-powered notebooks normally starting around $1,600 (about £1,400, AU$2,070) or budget friendly Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti laptops that don’t have the chops for 1080p gaming at medium-quality settings.

Gigabyte aims to break that trend with the SabrePro 15, which, as its name might suggest, is a higher-end version of its budget Sabre gaming laptop. The 15-incher comes with a faster processor, better graphics and an RGB keyboard over its affordable cousin – but it stops short of breaking the bank with a starting price of $1,399 (£1,499, AU$2,249).

cvhFqxeMifAzmdARhwHjH8-650-80

Price and availability

For what you’re getting inside, the Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is a steal at $1,399 (£1,499, AU$2,249).

Unfortunately, there are two catches with this price tag. The first being that this laptop only comes in one configuration. Secondly, our review unit has a few components you won’t find in the retail version, including an NVMe PCIe x4 SSD that’s faster than the offered M.2 SATA 3 speed flash storage, as well as a hard drive with twice the capacity compared to what’s found in consumer units.

Even with those more realistic specs in mind, the Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is far more affordable than other equally powerful gaming laptops, like the $1,899 (£1,799, AU$2,799) Razer Blade or the $2,073 (about £1,630, AU$2,730) Origin EVO15-S – the latter of which is only available in the US.

The only gaming laptops to come close to offering the same value is the $1,399 (about £1,100, AU$1,840) Acer Predator Helios 300.

kFw5yEMrgeX8mCMnCe5ET8-650-80

Design

Design-wise, the SabrePro is a departure from Gigabyte’s toned-down looks. Rather, this 15-inch feels and looks like the quintessential gaming laptop that also took a page out of Michael Bay’s take on Transformers.

The SabrePro’s design is part stealth bomber and hyper car that includes bevels, nipped corners, points and curves on every end. Save for the sides of the laptop, there aren’t any flat edges on this machine. There are so many facets to this laptop that a few end up clashing with the rest of the laptop, such as its curved backend, whereas the rest of its shape is fairly geometric.

Altogether, it’s a very busy design that seems like it’s trying too hard to keep things interesting. Whether you’ll like this look also will depend on your personal preference, though.

3L8XaxxAMYqwLkyWZCyCN8-650-80

Styling aside, the SabrePro is functionally well designed. Thanks to the slightly forward position of the screen hinge, you’ll find desk-friendly ports on the back of the machine including one for Ethernet, plus video out and power connectors.

Meanwhile, the gaming notebook’s extended front end also allows for front-facing speakers that offer suitable stereo separation – even if they’re a touch too quiet.

2NGpnPcWLziFtJ5N5jgeQ8-650-80

Of course, there’s a downside with the bigger chassis in that the SabrePro is both bigger and heavier than its competitors.

While this Gigabyte 15-inch measures 15.4 x 10.5 x 0.9 inches (39 x 26.8 x 2.5cm; W x D x H), the Razer Blade and Origin EON15-S are smaller at 13.6 x 9.3 x 0.70 inches (34.5 x 23.5 x 1.79mm) and 15 x 9.8 x 0.69 inches (38.1 x 24.8 x 1.75cm), respectively.

The Sabre Pro is also a full pound and a half heavier than the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro, which is the same underlying chassis as Origin’s thin-and-light 15-inch gaming laptop.

oLMMJLy9ZV8SH5Q3FNEXE8-650-80

Decked out

Another highlight of the Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is the keyboard, which offers the most satisfying amount of 2mm of key travel we’ve had on a traditional gaming laptop. That’s even compared to other machines with mechanical-type keys, like the Razer Blade Pro and MSI GT75VR Titan, though, there isn’t a sharp click when you bottom out the keys.

We’re also not crazy about having the number pad jammed into the arrow keys, which often leads us to scrolling up and down the page when we meant to enter digits or vice-versa. Gigabyte could easily fix this problem by moving the arrow keys a step below the rest of the keyboard.

89VGU9dUr6Wm3YBwjN8Mb8-650-80

Unlike most gaming laptop’s, Gigabyte opted to move the macro keys above the keyboard rather than leaving them off to the side. Not only does this give more space for a roomier keyboard, we feel they’re a bit more accessible. Outside of gaming, you can also program these macro keys to cycle power modes, ramp up the fans to the max and assign other quick-access settings.

Surprisingly, the SabrePro also integrates a Microsoft Precision Touchpad and thus the nearly perfect 1:1 tracking with solid multi-touch gesture recognition you should expect.

Despite being much more affordable than other mid-end 15-inch gaming laptops, the Gigabyte SabrePro 15 outperforms other notebooks in its class. In fact, this 15-inch machine scored hundreds of points higher than the Razer Blade and Origin EVO15-S in every test. The SabrePro also flexes its muscles by playing GTA V on Ultra quality settings at 8 to 11 frames per second (fps) higher that both its competitors.

Outside of benchmarks, we were impressed with the array of modern titles – including Prey, Doom and Dishonored 2 – we could play on Ultra settings and still get a silky smooth 60 fps gameplay experience.

UtvE2FQ4LYkcFFUem7wdG8-650-80

A small percentage of this improved performance is due to optimization improving hardware and software over time. However, a bigger factor here is the fact that the SabrePro is a thicker machine that can circulate more air. Combined with Gigabyte SupraCool (not to be confused with the famed Toyota street race car), the SabrePro does a better job of keeping temperatures down and performance up.

Unfortunately, Gigabyte didn’t figure out a way to tone down the fan noise, so the SabrePro still sounds like a hair dryer when it’s operating at full tilt.

Battery life

When it comes to battery life, the SabrePro falls behind the already short run times of most gaming laptops. Just 3 hours and 32 minutes was the longest battery life we saw out of this 15-inch laptop, and that was with just playing Guardians of the Galaxy on a loop as part of our standardized movie test.

The punishing PCMark 8 battery test produced an even shorter 2 hours and 53 minutes result that’s on par with the usage time we got with regular web surfing and word processing.

Comparatively, the Origin EVO15-S stood up to our movie test for 4 hours and 3 minutes. The Razer Blade continues to hold its position as the longest-lasting gaming laptop, with a record 7 hours and 29 minutes run time.

The Gigabyte SabrePro 15’s display can look a little lifeless. Colors feel muted and you’ll notice the Windows 10 taskbar is closer to a dark graphite rather than being pitch black. We also wish we could take the screen brightness up a few notches higher especially when using this machine in a brightly lit room.

That said, everything about the SabrePro’s display isn’t terrible. The Full HD resolution renders sharp details you fully appreciate since this gaming laptop can actually handle gaming on Ultra. There’s also a matte coating on the 15-inch screen that does a spectacular job of diffusing glare and reflections.

Thankfully, neither the screen or the speakers we criticized earlier are so bad we feel you’ll need to replace them with peripherals.

We liked

The Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is one of the most affordably priced gaming laptops we’ve seen in a long time, for what’s on offer inside. More surprisingly, it offers better performance than more expensive machines despite being equipped with the same components.

We disliked

Many of the things we don’t like about the Gigabyte SabrePro 15 are common with most. It’s short battery life that’s particularly below average makes it unreliable to use away from the power plug, and the loud fan noise becomes a nag while gaming. Aside from these usual annoyances, we only have minor gripes about its weak speakers and middling display.

Final verdict

The idea of paying two grand for a gaming laptop always gives us pause, and so the $1,399 (£1,499, AU$2,249) Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is a refreshing change of pace. It’s a solidly built, inoffensive gaming laptop – visual aesthetics aside – equipped with all the power you need to really get going with PC gaming. That said, if you’re looking for something with better battery life, there are better options to be had here.

It might not have the build quality of the Razer Blade or be nearly quite as thin, but you’re saving a lot of dough and getting even better performance to boot. The Gigabyte SabrePro 15 is one of the most powerful and affordable gaming laptops you can buy today.

Roccat Kone EMP Gaming Mouse Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Roccat Kone EMP Gaming Mouse Review

Following on from our recent review of Roccat’s ISKU+ Force FX Gaming keyboard, we are pleased to present our review of the Kone EMP gaming mouse. The EMP is an updated version of the already highly regarded Kone XTD, so it’s likely the EMP is another fine entry into the Roccat stable of gaming peripherals.

Unboxing and Overview

The Roccat Kone EMP comes with a typically bright box choc full of feature descriptions and information on just about every feature of the mouse.

The mouse is contained within an inner shell and comes with a setup guide and a set of stickers which is a nice touch.

Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Review

Nikkor 10 20mm Front Oblique View

The AF-P DX Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR lens is a small, light optic and hardly seems to add any bulk or weight to the D7500 DX format body used for this review. Intended for use on APS-C format DSLRs, manufactured with extensive use of lightweight plastics, do we have here another “Plastic Fantastic”? Let’s find out.

Handling and Features

There’s no denying the usefulness of the 10-20mm range, on the APS-C format this being a “35mm format equivalent” of 15-30mm. The 230g weight and restricted aperture of f/4.5 to f/5.6 all help to contribute towards the miniscule form factor. There is even VR (Vibration Reduction) built in, the on/off selection being controlled from within the camera menus. Also controlled by the camera are the aperture and the AF/MF selection. All this no doubt saves space in the actual lens construction itself.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) review

It gives me no pleasure to say this: Samsung could have done better with this year’s refresh of the Galaxy J3, and so can you.

Things you should expect from a super budget phone: it runs the current version of Android, takes pictures good enough for Facebook and gets through the day on a single charge. In those respects, the affordable Samsung Galaxy J3 for 2017 does fine.

Galaxy J3 (2017)-3

Compared to last year’s J3, this update runs Android 7.0 Nougat, and doubles the upper limit of your microSD card (from 128GB to 256GB here). The processor also gets a slight boost. These are all good things. But Samsung doesn’t go far enough to make 2017’s J3 feel and act like a different, better phone.

Acer Switch 5 review: The silent Surface killer?

If you’re in the market for a 2-in-1 device then there’s an increasing amount of choice when it comes to powerful Windows tablets with magnetic clip-on keyboards. And the Acer Switch 5 has all the spec prowess to take on the Microsoft Surface.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen this form clip-on-keyboard form factor, as last year’s Acer Switch Alpha 12 delivered a similar 12.2-inch design with liquid cooling that was, we thought, an ace on account of its price point.

The Switch 5 does things a little differently: it’s more powerful than the Alpha yet retains the liquid cooling for silent operation, comes with a one-hand adjustable stand, fingerprint scanner and, as you might expect, a higher starting price tag of around £1,000/$1,500-1,100/$1,650 (for the Intel Core i5 model on review).

Hands on: Huawei Band 2 Pro review

huawei-band-2-pro_1

Huawei is launching the Band 2 Pro, the successor to a wearable that saw limited release outside of the US under the name Honor Band Z1.

Compared to that watch’s circular design, the Band 2 Pro looks more akin to the competition it aims to take on, the Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Alta HR.

This waterproof wearable comes with built-in GPS, a limited touch interface for simple navigation on-the-go and rocks a style that blends in with your running gear and office dress code alike.

Huawei is also releasing the Huawei Band 2, a more stripped-back version of the Pro that won’t feature built-in GPS, the ability to monitor oxygen levels in your blood, smart coaching or sleep tracking.

Unfortunately, global pricing and release date information for either wearable isn’t currently available, but given that it appears to be a competent product in all regards, let’s hope that it sticks the landing on value.

Wharfedale Diamond 11.1 review

Wharfedale has taken the most advanced features found in the previous generations of its Diamond speakers and put them in a single package – drive units, slot port and a layered, curved cabinet.

“With the Diamond 11 series we started afresh,” says Director of Acoustic Design Peter Comeau, “taking established Diamond design features like Kevlar bass/mid cones and the slot-loaded distributed port system and incorporating them into redesigned speakers.”

The aim is to remain affordable while building from the ground up with performance, rather than cost, at the forefront of the company’s mind.

The result, Wharfedale claims, is a “generation of speakers that includes design elements never previously seen at such affordable price points”.

2015-2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 Review

Launched in 2012 for the 2013 model year, the Ninja 300, displacing the old Ninja 250 with a few more cubes. This sport-bike looking ride offers the market a lightweight, easy to handle option with a 296 cc engine, a six-speed transmission and just enough alphabet-soup tech acronyms to be modern without whacking the price. As far as being a starter bike, yeah, you can call it that. It’s also for folks that want a sport-bike look in a commuter bike or just to have a bike with a smaller engine size so it doesn’t smack your wallet on insurance premiums. It’s smooth, it’s flickable and I might even call it a sport-bike trainer. As a starter or a trainer, you’ll outgrow it; but for a lightweight, fun bike, this could be your huckleberry.

Design

2017-ninja-300-wte_800x0w

(Winter Test Edition)

As far as sportbikes go, the Ninja 300 has a low seat height at less than 31 inches, so you don’t have to be tall to flat-foot this bike. The flip-side of that is tall folks might feel a little cramped. Another thing to consider is the stock exhaust can make it a little whiny, so if it bothers you, a trip to the aftermarket might be your ticket.
