Among the new Chronos line of SKK, the Ace is the most impressive, value packed as a matter of fact. It’s a reason why we find it logical for the company to build up on that momentum and release an updated variant.

SKK Chronos Ace+ in its faux leather case

Fortunately, they did it as they announced the Chronos Ace+, a handset with identical specs against the regular Ace, but has doulbe the RAM at 2 GB. The best part about it is the price increase is minimal. It’s priced at just 2,699 Pesos!

That move is HUGE as it solidified the reputation of the Chronos Ace series of having the best good specs on paper found on a sub-3K smartphone.

How to use your Android, iOS, or Windows 10 smartphone as a Wi-Fi hotspot

When you really need to access the internet from a PC, your phone can save the day.

Wi-Fi is everywhere these days. So much so that Google is playing around with a cell phone service that relies mostly on Wi-Fi. Nevertheless, there are times when Wi-Fi is just not an option. If your life is anything like mine, that will be the moment when you absolutely must get your laptop online to make adjustments to a document, or reply to a lengthy email.

Hands on: HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle review

Can you hear that? It’s the sound of a smartphone offering best-in-class audio – at least that’s what HTC wants you to believe with its latest mid-range marvel, the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle.

The phone arrives as one half of a double act, with the higher-spec Desire 10 Pro taking most of the limelight, and with it a higher price tag, while the Desire 10 Lifestyle takes the trendy, lower-cost route in search of underground fame.

Is the audio experience alone really enough for the Desire 10 Lifestyle to stand out from its other half though? The Lifestyle misses out on a fingerprint scanner, 1080p resolution, flagship camera, laser auto-focus and two-tone flash – all of which the Desire 10 Pro has.

The Desire 10 Lifestyle isn’t void of features though, and with a lower price tag to its name there’s still a good chance it’ll stake a claim in the mid-range market.

HTC Desire 10 Pro preview: A Smartphone Named Desire

HTC has announced a pair of new handsets, going under the name of HTC Desire 10.

The name is designed to evoke memories of the HTC 10, the company’s excellent 2016 flagship handset and the colourways are designed to stir your passions.

Dropping the splatter design that adorned some of HTC’s earlier Desire handsets, the Desire 10 is designed to be more elegant and classic.

Picking up on a theme of art deco, the handset matches gold trim with classic colours for a high contrast finish. The gold of the trim, which HTC tells us takes 8 layers of coating, finished with laser cutting, means that the antennae bands blend into the design.

HTC Desire 10 Pro vs Desire 10 Lifestyle: What’s the difference?

HTC has pulled the old trick of launching two devices with the same sort of name, but with very different specs.

The HTC Desire 10 is the latest addition to HTC’s mid-range. One of the distinctive things about the Desire 10 is the design, with gold trim framing the distinct colours, giving a contrast finish reminiscent of art deco classic design.

But aside from the option for a “valentine lux” coloured handset these are two very different devices. So just what is the difference?

As we’ve just mentioned, the design of these handsets is essentially the same, or it is in terms of overall colour, build and finish.

ASUS ROG Strix 1080 Review: Certified Monster

NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 graphics cards are probably the fastest GPUs in the market right now, and is the defacto choice for hardcore gamers that want the very best. It’s not surprising then that the resulting cards from hardware manufacturers have been impressive to say the least – the Pascal architecture that powers the newest generation of NVIDIA GPUs is probably the best that we’ve ever seen, capable of driving insane graphics and VR for people lucky enough to have the spare cash for these bad boys.

And just like clockwork, ASUS has also released their own interpretation of GTX 1080 – the ROG Strix 1080. While there’s already no question of the card’s performance, ASUS has added quite a few new features to their beast of a GPU that should differentiate them from the crowd.

PiPo X10 Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho PiPo X10

PiPo’s X series is their experimental Mini PC hybrid lineup, the X9 was somewhat of a hit for them, proving to be a popular hybrid mini PC meaning you could operate it without the need of a keyboard or mouse due to its touch screen. So now X9 successor is out what did PiPo improve? Well, it’s now fan cooled, one thing the X7 and X9 ran into after a full day or working hard was thermal throttling. Pipo now claims that issue is solved with the addition of not only a larger heatsink but a small fan to constantly cool the PC.

The screen now as been upgraded from a 16:9 aspect ratio screen to a 3:2 screen, in fact the same panel used in the Microsoft Surface 3 with a resolution of 1920 x 1280. And lastly, a 10,000 mAh battery was added for portability and UPS battery backup. Previous models didn’t have batteries in them. The below is a video review, but there are pros and cons, my rating as well as a verdict below.

Arcam AVR390 Review

The AVR390 is Arcam’s attempt to bring the performance of its high-end AV amps to a more affordable level by taking the unusual approach of copying the front-end circuitry, the pre-amp section and all the processing straight from the company’s £4500/$6750 AVR850 and putting it into this new system.

Features

To meet the £2000/$3000 price point, something had to give; in this case, it’s the power amp section and the power supply which Arcam has toned down to lower the AVR390’s cost.

The company has swapped the AVR850’s expensive and complex Class G power amplification for the more conventional Class A/B alternative.

Accordingly, power output has gone down – from the AVR850’s 200W maximum to 80W (when driving two channels between 20Hz and 20kHz)

GoPro’s foldable Karma drone is a high-flying marvel

Karma could reverse GoPro’s sagging fortunes – and we’re not talking about the “what comes around goes back around” type either.

No, Karma is the company’s first flying drone, a pivot from its trademark action cameras while still ultimately serving as a way to sell action cameras. Long teased and slightly delayed, the Karma was just officially revealed, and the compact, folding design makes it mighty appealing indeed.

[su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/CjNjcrQZtd8″]

Why should I care?

Good question! High-end quadcopters are usually large and can be complicated (and expensive!), keeping them out of the average consumer’s hands, while the cheaper stuff trades away a lot of quality and consistency of product.

Panasonic Lumix FZ2000 preview: A 4K video feast, the end of the camcorder as we know it?

In the middle of 2014 Panasonic dipped its oar into the premium superzoom market with the Lumix FZ1000. As a do-it-all DSLR alternative with a 1-inch sensor size it ticked a lot of boxes.

Its update for 2016, the Lumix FZ2000, is an even more standout product that, with a huge focus on 4K video capabilities, might be the kind of camera to spell the end of the camcorder as we know it. Here’s why.

Often updated cameras will tweak the sensor or add a new feature here and there, but the FZ2000 is a total rework over the original FZ1000. The FZ2000’s new lens, for example, provides a 20x optical zoom, ranging from a wide-angle 24mm through to a 480mm equivalent. That’s a notable amount of extra zoom, ensuring the FZ2000 keeps the “super” in “superzoom”. Plus it can focus just 3cms from the lens front glass at its widest-angle, which is rather impressive.

Panasonic Lumix LX15 preview: The best high-end compact camera yet?

It was only a handful of years back that Panasonic ruled the high-end yet pocketable compact camera market with its Lumix LX7. In the years since Sonyhas been the manufacturer to forge an enviable position at the top with its RX100 models. And now Panasonic looks set to come back fighting, with the announcement of the Lumix LX15 (or the better-named LX10 in other territories).

In some regards the LX15 feels like the LX7 Mark II. But it’s so much more than that: with a 1-inch sensor size it’s on par with the Sony, yet offers a faster 24-72mm f/1.4-2.8 equivalent lens, ensuring bright aperture availability throughout its zoom range. Does this make the LX15 a contender for the best high-end compact camera to date?

Having handled the LX15 ahead of Panasonic’s Photokina-based launch, it’s the way the camera handles that really sells it. Simple things like the addition of a tilt-angle touchscreen mean it’s easy to tap where to focus without needing to fiddle around within the menus.

HTC Desire 10: Release date, specs and everything you need to know

HTC is teasing the launch of its latest handset. Having been rather quiet following the launch of the HTC 10 and focusing on the HTC Vive VR launch, it now seems that there are Desire handsets in the works.

The Desire family is HTC’s mid-range, with a few exceptions. Generally speaking, Desire is more affordable and uses plastics rather than the metals that the One devices were known for.

We’ve also seen some gems from the Desire line, including the likes of theDesire Eye, so it potentially offers up a few treats too. The rumours have it that HTC is preparing to launch the HTC Desire 10, with mention of this handset first appearing in early-July.

Panasonic Lumix G80 preview: Affordable foray into 4K

Panasonic is laying out its stall in the compact system camera market – and its shelves are well and now truly stacked. The new Lumix G80 (or G81 in Germany; G85 in other territories, just to confuse the bejeezus out of you) is like a bulked-out DSLR-style version of the Lumix GX80, or, in some respects, a budget version of the Lumix GH4 – with plenty of the same high-end specs for a cut of the price.

Some months ago we got to sample a pre-production G80, testing it out around London Zoo to get a feel for where this camera fits into the range and what else it can bring to the table. Since then we’ve received the final version in-hand, which we’ve been using for a few days ahead of our full review.

So does this mid-level mirrorless deserve its place in the current compact system camera line-up?

Philips Fidelio B1 review

We had high hopes for the Philips Fidelio B1.

The tiny soundbar with wireless subwoofer is designed for small rooms and small TVs, and it seems like the perfect antidote to the long, bulky soundbars taking up space both in the market, and in front of our TVs. But its sound quality doesn’t justify that high price.

At £450/$675, it has to beat the Award-winning Q Acoustics Media 4 (which is our recommendation at £330/$495) and, considering the B1’s form, it also has to be better value than the £200/$300 Acoustic Energy Aego Soundbar, which is similarly designed for small spaces.

Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer Watch Review

I’ve been wanting to review the Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer watch since it was debuted back in 2009. Part of the larger Senator watch collection, the Senator Chronometer has a beautiful symmetrical dial design and wonderful feature set that make for an attractive and technically superior timepiece. Pictures alone don’t do the Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer justice because the real appeal here is what it is like to operate the movement.

[su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/V5pT_FeMGKE”]

The Senator Chronometer is the Glashütte, Germany-based brand’s first “chronometer” watch. Most people consider “chronometer” watches to be certified by COSC in Switzerland, but that isn’t always the case. There are also German chronometer watches which mirror the COSC standards and are certified by the Glashütte Observatory. The watch retailer Wempe – who also produces watches under their house label – apparently set up a certification department in the Glashütte Observatory in about 2006 designed to test watches that fall within certain performance requirements under DIN 8319 standards. While German and Swiss chronometers both share the daily rate result maximum range of minus four or plus six seconds per day, there is an important difference.

Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575G) Full review – feature-packed dirt-cheap mid-ranger

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575G)

Acer has always been the one OEM on the market pursuing sales by aggressive pricing. Most of their mainstream notebooks are priced considerably lower than its direct competitors while offering similar if not more powerful hardware. The newly released Aspire E15 (E5-575G) notebook makes a compelling case with a good performance/price ratio and successfully rivaling the similarly priced ASUS X556 notebook, which comes with the same 940MX GPU with GDDR5 VRAM and a lackluster screen to compensate for the lower price.

However, the E5-575G comes in strong with probably better screen quality and identical hardware. What’s more is that Acer’s solution somehow offers a much better build quality and input devices. The successfully adapted design from the Aspire E5-573 makes an appearance here as well with a bit more refined details like the outer surface and interior. It’s definitely an excellent all-rounder with an absurdly low asking price but does it make any major compromises the specs sheet doesn’t tell you about? That’s why we are here.

2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack First Drive: Almost-SUV fills in VW’s gaps

Volkswagen is an automaker in transition, and the 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is a harbinger of things to come. With Americans tilting inexorably towards crossovers and SUVs as their conveyance of choice, and faced with a line-up heavily weighted with turbodiesel sedans and hatchbacks that the EPA has placed on indefinite hiatus, VW’s market makeover is only just beginning. The Golf Alltrack’s wagon-based, crossover-friendly image heralds an SUV onslaught that will continue through the next 12 months as an all-new three-row people mover and long-awaited replacement for the slow-selling Tiguan compact sport-utility also make their way to showrooms.

On paper, it’s a simple formula: take the practical and affordable Volkswagen Golf SportWagen, add a modicum of extra ground clearance and the extra grip of 4Motion all-wheel drive, and then top it off with a flourish of plastic body cladding on the front, the sides, and the rear. If this sounds familiar, that’s because it’s worked well for a host of other car companies in the past, including Subaru (the Outback), Volvo (the CrossCountry series), andAudi (the Allroad).

201-volkswagen-golf-alltrack-review-photo-slashgear00001_

In fact, the larger Outback was the bogey used by Volkswagen’s product planners in putting together the Alltrack family. Ten years ago, if you had asked me whether a giant like Volkswagen would be taking cues from Subaru’s modest showroom, I would not have believed you – but this simply shows how dramatically the playing field has tilted towards SUVs.

201-volkswagen-golf-alltrack-review-photo-slashgear00004_

Mechanically, there are few differences to be found when comparing the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack to its SportWagen sibling. Both make use of the same 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, which has been turbocharged to produce 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque, and each can choose between either a six-speed manual (first-quarter of 2017 delivery) or six-speed dual-clutch automated manual gearbox. All-wheel drive is standard with the Alltrack, of course, but for 2017 it’s also available as an option for the base model SportWagen, where it delivers an identical 22-mpg city and 30-mpg highway (figures that are roughly 18 percent worse than the front-wheel drive family Golf, although the fuel tank has grown by 1.3 gallons to make up for the difference).

You won’t spot any significant changes inside, either, with a very useful 66.5 cubic feet of total cargo space available in both vehicles, alongside a relatively adult-friendly rear seat. Moving up through the Alltrack’s trim levels – S, SE, and range-topping SEL – sees equipment mirroring that of the SportWagen, with similar options packages (focused on improved lighting and additional safety equipment) also showing on both order sheets.

201-volkswagen-golf-alltrack-review-photo-slashgear00012_

Where, then will the average buyer notice a difference between the new Alltrack and the familiar SportWagen when driving both Golf models back-to-back? The short answer is that they most likely won’t – unless the dealership happens to be located at the end of a somewhat rugged off-road trail. The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack adds a new drive mode that is intended to better manage traction when heading off of the beaten path, and it features a hill descent control system that will automatically brake the vehicle’s wheels individually in order to maintain a slow and steady pace with the nose pointed downwards.

201-volkswagen-golf-alltrack-review-photo-slashgear00010_

Taken together with the 0.6 additional inches in ground clearance (with wheel gap visually expanded by flared fenders and taller tires), it’s fair to say that the Alltrack will handle muddy roads with ease. On the short up-and-down trail laid out for me to drive the Volkswagen through on Washington state’s Bainbridge Island, the car performed admirably enough, but it’s important to remember that there’s still a Golf chassis sitting underneath the revised packaging, and that it would be a mistake to expect the Alltrack to take much of a real-world beating.

201-volkswagen-golf-alltrack-review-photo-slashgear00017_

This is, of course, perfectly fine. Very few SUV owners – Subaru or otherwise – actually intend to tackle terrain any more robust than a gravel driveway, with the extra all-wheel drive traction prized more for its foul-weather performance than its exploration potential. In this role, the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack excels, as it delivers a driving experience that’s a dead ringer for the SportWagen in every situation other than when the pavement disappears. With the 4Motion system channeling 90 percent of power to the front wheels unless called upon to dole out extra grip at the rear, the car’s AWD is also entirely transparent in its operation.

[su_slider source=”media: 38257,38258,38259,38260,38261″ width=”640″ height=”460″ title=”no”] [/su_slider]

Why the Alltrack, then? It’s entirely a matter of personal taste. With a starting price of $25,850, the newest Golf is only marginally pricier than the no-frills AWD version of the SportWagen, and if you want that four-wheel feeling with all the bells and whistles the DSG-only SEL edition checks in at just under $32,890. It seems unlikely that existing Outback customers will forgo their famous brand loyalty and swap allegiance to VW, but current Golf owners may well be tempted by the Alltrack’s outdoorsy styling, and, of course, the availability of a nicely-equipped all-wheel drive wagon at a relatively affordable ask. The Alltrack is the appetizer to the full-course SUV meal about to be served up by Volkswagen, but it’s certainly enough to cleanse the palate in preparation for the next stage in the company’s American evolution.

HP Refreshes its ProBook 400 Line with Kaby Lake CPUs

At least, that’s what HP is trying to say with its updated ProBook 400 line of laptops that are available now starting at $499. The company has redesigned the computer because, as HP’s blog postsays, millennials want style.

6 things we love about the iPhone 7… and 3 things we’re not so keen on

Apple’s iPhone 7 is now officially in stores – although you might actually have trouble finding one, given the usual pre-order barrage and release morning queues.

At a glance, Apple’s latest and greatest doesn’t seem to bring any major improvements over the last couple, but while the core design remains intact, there are plenty of upgrades all around the handset… and maybe even some reasons to upgrade if you have last year’s phone.

Jabra Sport Coach Special Edition review : Rep counting sports headphones make a decent workout companion

The Jabra Sport Coach Special Edition are a solid pair of wireless sports headphones that takes the existing tech on board and makes it all the more useful. Panasonic Viera TX-50DX802 4K TV review: Your affordable 4K future is here

It’s a bit of a numbers war when it comes to buying a 4K TV. And when spending over a grand on the latest and greatest Ultra HD tech, you want to make sure you’ve got it right. Fortunately Panasonic’s TV numbering system is relatively logical (if inelegant): the DX802 (DX800) sits below the flagship DX902 (DX900). The lower the number equals the more features you’ll see stripped away.

But, actually, the DX802 doesn’t relinquish too much of the DX902’s excellence. It does away with the Ultra HD Premium badge, there’s no honeycomb structure for specific local dimming (it still offers local dimming though) and is a 2,000Hz rather than 3,000Hz panel. Other than the “floating” design the biggest difference most might notice, however, is the price: the 50-inch model on review here is £1,199/$1,7985; the 58-inch just £1,399/$2.0985.
