Next-Generation Flagship Killer Comparo: Honor Play vs. Pocophone F1

Here comes the battle of the super affordable flagship killers!

A few years back, OnePlus made waves by launching a phone that came with flagship specs at half the price of typical flagship phones. Unfortunately, their phones have become more expensive through the years, which has opened the door for other brands to take the budget flagship crown. Now two brands are vying to replicate OnePlus’ success: Honor with the Honor Play, and Xiaomi’s Pocophone sub-brand with the Pocophone F1.

Nikon Z7 vs Sony A7R III – The 10 Main Differences

Note: the product images show the A7 III instead of the A7R III, but the two Sony cameras have the same design.

The A7R II and its successor the A7R III have long been praised for their image quality thanks to their excellent full frame sensors. Nikon wasn’t far behind with the D850 and has now released a “mirrorless version” with a similar resolution. The fact that the flagships Z7 and A7R III have become direct competitors shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone!

Apple hasn’t sent out media invites yet, but odds are good we get an official date for the company’s fall launch event in a few days time. Apple typically uses the month of September to announce new hardware and slap official release dates on the software it debuted at its annual developer conference in June.

If Audi’s PB18 is the future of sports EVs – count me in

Still, none have gone quite as far as the PB18. Audi’s goal, the company explained to us, was fairly straightforward. The coupe had to be as dynamic to drive as an R8-style supercar, maximize the potential of electric propulsion, carry the luggage of two, but also deliver the superlative track day experience. Despite the R8 comparisons, the result is like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

From the front, it’s a sleek sports car. From the side, though, it’s part station wagon and part urban tank, like something from a Judge Dredd comic.

They boast hardware for real-time ray tracing and enough power to drive 4K G-Sync HDR displays. Those prices though.

The wait is over, friends. These graphics cards look like beasts, infused with dedicated tensor and RT cores to accelerate real-time ray tracing, the Holy Grail of gaming graphics, and enough visual firepower to feed 4K G-Sync HDR displays, the Holy Grail of gaming monitors.

VIZIO E-Series 65″ 4K HDR Smart TV | E65-F1 Review

Buying a big-screen 4K HDR TV was a dream for me a few years ago as it often costs a few thousand bucks. However, I always knew the price would come down when more manufacturers join the market. Now, the time has come and you can even buy one for less than $1,000.

VIZIO even makes 4K HDR TV more approachable for average consumers with the new VIZIO E65-F1. It has the MSRP of $798 but you can find it on sale for less than $700.

Garmin Edge 130 review: Garmin’s best-value GPS cycle computer?

Small, lightweight and packed with features, the Edge 130 is a pleasure to use

*** NOTE : £1 = $1.28 (correct at time of post)

Announced in April 2018, the Garmin Edge 130 is the first of a brand new series of Garmin bike computers – that is to say, it has no immediate predecessor. In terms of features, though, it’s perhaps most easily compared to the hugely popular Edge 520, which was first released in 2015.

Nikon Z7 vs D850 – The 10 Main Differences

When mirrorless cameras from Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus and Panasonic first began to seriously threaten the DSLR market share a few years ago, the obvious question was how long it would take for the two heavy-hitters in the industry – Nikon and Canon – to jump onto the mirrorless bandwagon.*

Well, one of the two giants has finally made the leap by introducing two high-end mirrorless models: the Nikon Z6 and Z7. The former is a jack-of-all-trades whereas the latter, with its 45.7MP sensor, is designed to deliver the best resolution possible.

MyPhone MyX8 Review: Pinoy Pride At Its Best?

Can this phone be MyPhone’s comeback?

Despite being of the biggest local brands a few years ago, MyPhone has been relatively quiet the past few months. The Pinoy brand hasn’t been as active as they once were in the tech scene, releasing only a few, relatively low-profile devices the past few months.

The company is looking to pick up steam once again in the second half of 2018 with their new MyX8 budget phone.

Energy Sistem Sport 1 Bluetooth Review

Energy Sistem Sport 1 Bluetooth: Detailed Review

Looking back at the rise of Bluetooth IEMs, there weren’t many design options when the whole thing started off. Now, you are likely to be confused about whether to go for a neckband, neckband with wires, truly-wireless – we might need to come up with new classification terms soon. While it is difficult to pin a particular type as the best of the lot, the neckband with wire type has a certain balanced appeal that falls between the rigidity of typical neckbands and the complete disconnection of true wireless.

Top 10 Motorcycles For Riders Over 50!

I should probably have broken this down into “Riders Over 50 with a History of Failed Relationships and Bad Decisions Without a Pot to Piss In,” and “Riders Over 50 With Healthy Portfolios and Dazzling Smiles”… but I didn’t. Because motorcycles are still relatively inexpensive, and because all us old guys seem to be drawn to the same ones whatever they cost. Besides, even wealthy motorcycle people mostly seem to be inherently cheap; otherwise they’d be car people, no? Consider this my personal cross-section of the bikes people like me covet most, and/or actually would (theoretically in my case) own.

Poco F1 can beat OnePlus 6: 10 points!

Phone brand Xiaomi made sub-brand Poco to take on OnePlus both in India and abroad. In the first week after launch, Poco seems already to have rustled up quite a few jimmies in OnePlus forums – might it be that OnePlus finally has some real competition in their once-dominated price-for-value space?

In OnePlus forums this week, the debates ran hot. It appeared that pain points rested in the OnePlus 6 spec-matching in the Poco F1 with the added benefit of Liquid Cooling technology. If Xiaomi’s Poco does indeed have the ability to keep their phone cool while in heavy-duty work mode, this addresses at least one new (but major) situation in the gaming realm:

Nikon Z6 vs D750 – The 10 Main Differences

Nikon has a vast selection of DSLR cameras for advanced amateurs and professional photographers. One of the most popular models is the D750 which offers excellent performance at a competitive price.

The company recently launched its new Z mirrorless system, opting to start with the high-end products. One of the first two cameras is the Z6 whose 24MP full-frame sensor and competitive price point put into the same category as the D750 as far as the target user base is concerned.

2018 Toyota Camry vs. 2018 Honda Accord – Sedan Showdown

The 2018 Toyota Camry looks better than before. Toyota’s mission to infuse some much needed sportiness into their sedan offerings is paying off, at least from a design perspective. From the other end of the spectrum, we have the 2018 Honda Accord. Honda’s track record for performance has been improving lately. The Accord may looked like a stretched and widened Civic, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you’re one of those who rave about the latest Civic’s design.

5 ways Acura changed the 2019 NSX

Acura’s second-generation NSX tried the impossible: a supercar that was not only usable every day, but without headaches or frustrations along the way. If in the process it sacrificed a little drama in the name of accessibility, the 2019 NSX nudges things back in the right direction. A series of focused changes could pay big dividends to the hybrid coupe.

A stiffer, more responsive NSX

The new NSX doesn’t get any extra power: arguably there’s no need for it, with 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque from the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD drivetrain.

Aprilia RSV4 RF Vs. Ducati Panigale V4 S – Dyno Shootout

A living legend and a brash newcomer settle the score on the dyno

Without a doubt, the biggest news in the sportbike scene for 2018 is Ducati’s Panigale V4 and the emergence of a mass-produced four cylinder engine – the Stradale V4. While Ducati has finally left its beloved V-Twin engine behind (at least in terms of superbikes), there was no way the folks in Borgo Panigale would conform to tradition when it came to its new four-banger. For starters, as the name implies, the new engine is arranged as a 90º V4 – essentially multiplying  its V-Twin tradition by two.

Como Audio Musica review: This lovingly crafted speaker is all kinds of music to our ears

It’s the Swiss Army Knife of micro stereo systems.

If you can take just one piece of electronics to your mountain cabin or desert island, the Como Audio Musica would be a good choice. It plays everything, sounds delicious, and looks pretty, too.

Como Audio should borrow a popular tagline of “Solid Gold” radio stations to describe its top-of-the-line music box, the Musica.

Google Pixel 3 rumors – UPDATED : Wireless charging, a giant screen, and no more secrets

The third generation of Google’s Pixel flagship phone is due to land this fall, and we already know a lot about it.

After Samsung, LG, and Apple each have their moment in the spotlight, all attention turns to the Pixel phone, and this year’s release—inevitably called Pixel 3—is shaping up to be one of the best phones of the year. Soundcast VGtx Bluetooth audio transmitter review

Better than average range and optical pass-through are this BT transmitter’s strong points

This handsome transmitter looks right at home alongside pro audio gear, and has better range (about 10 meters in our testing) than others. It’s easy to setup and pair, but it misses a trick by not serving as a USB audio interface, instead just drawing power from USB. Still, if you need those 10 meters, the VGtx gives them to you.

Lots of devices support Bluetooth these days: Phones, laptops, headphones, speakers, and more. But there are also plenty of audio-emitting legacy devices that don’t, including TVs, stereo receivers, and terrestrial radios.

2019 Acura NSX gets stiffer, feistier and more striking

Acura’s potent hybrid sports car is getting a refresh, with the 2019 Acura NSX making its debut at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year. Promising new styling, a more upscale interior as standard, and performance improvements courtesy of chassis upgrades, it should leave the NSX even more capable.

The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD drivetrain is the same, with a twin-turbocharged mid-mounted V6 engine combined with a total of three electric motors and a 9-speed dual clutch transmission. An electric Direct Drive Motor is integrated with the gas engine and the gearbox, making sure torque is instantaneous.

2018 Audi R8 V10 RWS v McLaren 540C comparison

You know you’re swimming in dangerous waters trying to rationalise a sub-genre in which to fit the Audi R8 RWS and the McLaren 540C when valid arguments can rage (at CarAdvice HQ, at least) about what broader car segment each sits in.

Are these super sports cars? Or merely sports cars? Do they qualify as supercars, which has been argued that, these days, sits a tier beneath properly ludicrous hypercars? Further, does some common purpose of being between them transcend mere pigeonholes? And do labels really matter?
