Audioengine HD6 Wireless review

If it wasn’t for Audioengine dabbling in everything from passive speakers to Bluetooth receivers, you could reasonably assume that its name was dreamt up by The Cheesecake Factory or Muffin Mix school of literal branding.

Features

The ‘engine’ driving its tenth anniversary flagship powered speakers, the HD6 Wirelesses, takes the form of a 50W Class A/B amplifier. This is housed in the left-hand speaker, driving its 14cm Kevlar mid/bass and 25mm silk tweeter.

The signal for the right channel is then fed to the passive right speaker through a banana plug-terminated cable – the ‘wireless’ name shouldn’t be taken too literally here – and you have two thirds of a system in just two boxes.

ZTE Axon 7s Hands-on Review : updated Axon 7, specifications, release date, price

Last year, on May 26, the Chinese manufacturer ZTE introduced its new flagship smartphone called ZTE Axon 7. The device was very successful, because it was based on powerful processor Snapdragon 820, received 4 or 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of user memory. No less important was the presence of stereo speakers, which sounded great thanks to the sound amplifier from Asahi Kasei Microdevices.

After that ZTE released two more versions of the flagship with more simplified hardware for the masses. They called Axon 7 mini and Axon 7 Max. The first one received very modest specs and weak battery, but the second one had 6-inch screen and high-price. Anyway, the success of Axon 7 allowed the smartphone manufacturer to continue phone series. This year we already saw new smartphone Axon 7 with Snapdragon 821 processor. Yes, this processor is not the latest, although it is very powerful. The same LG G6 runs on a similar chipset.

Globe Prepaid Home WiFi Review

Globe Telecom released a new product called Globe Home Prepaid WiFi a few months ago. It’s basically an LTE WiFi router that comes bundled with a Globe prepaid SIM card.

We’ve been using the device for about a month now so we’ve pretty much had a good grasp of its purpose and value. This is actually the 3rd model we bought in the past 3 months (one in the office, another in our video studio and one in my condo).

Device

The modem is a small, white plastic router which is about 6 by 6 inches in size and about an inch thick with the base slightly thicker in order for it to stand upright.

Canon EOS Rebel T7i Review: Strong Midrange Shooter

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Canon EOS Rebel T7i

The 24-megapixel Canon EOS Rebel T7i ($750 body only) sits at the head of the company’s entry-level DSLR family. A camera that newcomers can grow into, the T7i boasts a a ramped-up autofocus system with more than twice the AF points (45 versus 19) compared with its predecessor, the EOS Rebel T6i, and it has Canon’s latest DIGIC 7 imaging processor.

Canon also improved the starting time on this camera, and the T7i now boasts continuous shooting speeds of up to 6 frames per second. You get longer battery life, too, at up to 820 shots per charge. While the T7i faces strong competition from Nikon’s D5600, it has plenty of features for newbies and experienced amateurs to grow as photographers.

Design: Compact and functional

Designed for entry-level users, the T7i body is dotted with easily identifiable external controls, and a Q (Quick Control) button lets you access settings without having to delve into the menu system.

Lenovo Yoga 720 Review

It turns out that style, performance and convenience don’t need to cost you over a grand. Take the $829 Lenovo Yoga 720, a convertible laptop with Intel’s 7th-Gen Kaby Lake CPUs, blisteringly fast storage and an elegant, lightweight design. While the 13-inch laptop would be even better with more battery life and a brighter screen, it’s still a more-than-capable laptop that will serve you well.

Design

A glimmering aluminum sliver of a notebook, the Yoga 720 is so svelte that I was surprised to see it packs a 13-inch panel. Available in silver, grey or gold, it features shiny YOGA branding on the top-right corner of the lid and equally reflective bevelled edges that wrap around the display and keyboard deck.

Cherry Mobile Flare J1 (2017) Unboxing, Quick Review: Shatter-resistant Display?

We unbox the Cherry Mobile Flare J1 (2017)!

Today we’re taking a look at yet another Cherry Mobile smartphone, this time it’s the Flare J1 that has a supposedly durable display. Cherry Mobile told us earlier on that their Flare J1 would have a more durable display compared to what’s usually offered in the market, which is an almost unheard of feature especially at the price point that the phone plays in.

Is that display more than enough to offset the phone’s entry-level specs? Let’s take a look:

Wearable Angels: 6 stories of lifesaving wearable tech

They’ve got your back, and your heart

Wearables don’t only have the potential to improve us, making up for our inefficiencies as pudgy sacks of meat. Because they’re always with us, monitoring us and keeping track of where we are, they have the potential to save us too.

It happened last month when a student was in a car accident that flipped his vehicle upside down, trapping him in his seat unable to reach his iPhone. Instead, he opted to use his Apple Watch’s emergency SOS feature, which instantly called 911 and saved his life.

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime First Impressions Review

The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime landed in the Philippines in April, packing a 5-inch HD display, Exynos quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, LTE, Android Marshmallow, and a premium body for Php9,990. Check out our initial impressions below.

The Galaxy J5 Prime is the smaller sibling of the J7 Prime and the same looks but at a smaller package. On the front is a 5-inch display with HD resolution which equates to 294ppi. Above it are the receiver with a chrome accent, the 5MP front camera, and sensors.

Down below is the physical home button that also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. Located on its left and right sides are the capacitive keys for Recent Apps and Back.

2018 Volkswagen T-Roc Review

Remember back in 2014 when Volkswagen put the T-Roc Concept on display at the Geneva auto show? Well, you would be crazy if you didn’t because it was actually one of the few VW concepts that we could actually appreciate. It even featured a removable roof that would put it in the business of competing with models like the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet and the Range Rover Evoque Cabrio. Now, we’re looking at spy shotsof a production model, and while it does look like VW has managed to preserve a fair amount of the concept’s design (at least more than most manufacturers would have, anyway), it doesn’t look like it’s going to have that removable roof panel. Which is, suffice it to say, a shame. We don’t know much else about the T-Roc at the moment, but it should have similar dimensions to the concept and will likely be offered with a range of engines that include a three-cylinder good for just over 100 ponies, and a few four-cylinder offerings that could deliver up to as much as 250 horsepower if a GTI variant, which is possible, graces the marketplace.

Nixon “The Mission” Android Smart Watch Unboxing Review

Announced back in March 2016 and eventually released sometime in August last year, the Nixon “The Mission” is probably one the very few smart watches out there that are built for extreme conditions.

Been looking out for this watch since January this year during my trip to the US for CES. Most of the Best Buy stores have run out of stocks and the few ones that have them only got the black and concrete color variants, not the orange that I really wanted.

On my 4th trip to the US (Las Vegas, California and twice in New York), I almost ended up getting the concrete when I discovered Nixon has a store in downtown SOHO.

Lenovo A6600 Plus Review

One of Lenovo’s newest affordable offering is the A6600 Plus. It’s a lower mid-range smartphone with a 5-inch display, quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, and Android Marshmallow. It also has dedicated dual-SIM slots instead of the hybrid setup which is becoming the norm nowadays. With the key features mentioned, can it stand out among the competition? Here’s our full review.

Design and Construction

The A6600 Plus is a very straightforward device with a no-nonsense design. It’s similar to the recent releases from the global device brand, and it exudes a standard affair of polycarbonate akin to devices in this price range.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+ review

Cylindrical design, 360-degree omnidirectional sound.

bose-revolve-plus-08

If you’ve been monitoring the Bluetooth speaker space, you’re probably aware that such descriptors are nothing new. Ultimate Ears led the 360-degree charge with its Boom, Boom 2and Megaboom, and JBL’s popular cylindrical Flip and Charge Series speakers are on their fourth generation. They all promise full-range sound without having to worry about placement.

Bose’s two versions of the tubular portable, battery-powered Bluetooth speaker are the SoundLink Revolve ($199, £199.95, AU$299) and its bigger brother the Revolve Plus ($299, £279.95, or AU$439). They’re expensive, but their design is excellent and they both sound great for small speakers. Between the two I like the Plus best, thanks to superior bass and an ability to play louder. It’s probably the best-sounding speaker of its size I’ve ever heard — or carried around by the handle.

LG PH3 Candle Bluetooth Speaker Quick Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho LG PH3 Candle Bluetooth Speaker

LG also has new Bluetooth speakers in tow, and we were lucky enough to snag a PH3 Candle Portable Bluetooth speaker when we attended the company’s Asia leg of the Innofest last month. Here’s a quick look at the PH3 Candle Bluetooth speaker.

The PH3 is part of LG’s new series of lighted wireless speakers announced at IFA last year. Designed to mimic a soft candlelight, it wants to blend in your home by not being overly tech-centric and serve a purpose other than playing your music.

The PH3 comes in a cone-like structure that represents a mix of polycarbonate, rubber, and metal all over. The top part is covered in frosted glass, to which the ‘candle’ lights up as needed. The speaker, a 3-watt amplifier and included passive radiator, is built in the structure to blast a 360-degree sound, and are protected by the metal wire mesh surrounding the speaker structure.

Top 11 Best Superzoom Lenses For Travel 2017

We’re swiftly approaching the holiday/vacation season and as keen photographers, you’ll probably be taking your camera, lenses and accessories with you. However, if you plan on packing a variety of lenses into your kit bag, it’ll soon start to feel heavy when exploring a city, walking along a beach or rambling in the countryside but you can save on the weight by simply packing a superzoom instead.

Superzooms are versatile, space-saving pieces of kit that give you focal lengths from wide-angle to telephoto in one piece of kit. You’re also less likely to miss a shot as you don’t have to worry about digging in your kit bag to change lenses and as you’ll not be swapping lenses, there’s less chance dust and dirt will reach your sensor.

ePHOTOzine has reviewed a huge number of superzooms over the years so to help you decide which is the best lens for you, we’ve put a top ten together that features the highest-scoring versatile superzoom lenses we’ve taken a look at.

Garmin Fenix 5S review : Big things, small packages

The Garmin Fenix 5S is the Fenix 5 in an arguably better designed package. You’ll still have support for a range of sports, from running to cycling to golf, and an impressive amount of granularity for the pros. There are some gripes, namely around the Connect app experience, and the optical heart rate sensor isn’t quite hitting chest-strap level just yet. But it’s an overall impressive package, and a Garmin watch you probably won’t want to take off once your workout is done.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Garmin Fenix 5S

Hey, guess what? The Garmin Fenix 5S is a multisport watch that’s neither massive nor ugly. You’d think that’s a weird thing to celebrate, but it’s quite the accomplishment in this category. In fact, launched alongside the flagship Fenix 5 and the map-tastic, fully-loaded Fenix 5X, the 5S is angled as those who like something a bit smaller on their wrist, with women particularly in mind.

That the watch is also meant to be a day-to-day tracker, on top of the workouts, no doubt gave Garmin more reason to make something a bit more wearable. It still measures 42mm, so it’s hardly dainty, but it’s a watch you’re much less likely to take off after a run.

Cherry Mobile Desire R7 and R7 Plus Quick Review: Handsome, Do-it-all Phones

Here’s our first look at the Cherry Mobile Desire R7 and R7 Plus!

Local outfit Cherry Mobile has sorta-announced their new budget smartphones, the R7 and R7 Plus through the product flyers that the company sends to its dealers and resellers, but we know very little about the two new phones. What we do know is that both phones are aimed at the highly lucrative budget market, with the R7 priced at Php 4,999 and the R7 Plus at Php 5,999.

Since both phones are under the new Desire product lineup, it stands to reason that Cherry Mobile is positioning both phones as budget devices meant for people who want a good looking phone without having to shell out a lot of cash.

2017 Mazda CX-5 range review

The first-generation Mazda CX-5 was Australia’s most popular SUV four years running, so the premiere of a more grown-up second iteration has genuine significance.

Australians purchased about 115,000 Mazda CX-5s from launch in 2012, making it the company’s number-two offering behind the Mazda 3. Globally, it accounts for about 25 per cent of its total sales.

2017_mazda_cx-5_range-review_header_one-line

Don’t let the 2017 version’s evolutionary styling, and familiar drivetrains and architectures, fool you into thinking there isn’t anything new to see. Cut through the spin and it’s obvious that Mazda hasn’t been idle, even if this doesn’t deservedly mark a whole generational change.

Linn Majik LP12 Turntable Review : Historical curio or living legend?

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Linn Majik LP12 Turntable

What is the Majik LP12?

The Linn Majik LP12 is a suspended, belt driven turntable… but there is a fair chance you probably knew that already. The LP12 joins a select group of products in the industry that have enjoyed lifespans far longer than might be reasonably considered the case, even judged by the more relaxed standards of two-channel rather than the breakneck pace of change with multi-channel devices. As near as makes no difference when you read this, it will have been in continuous production for 45 years

What makes the LP12 more unusual, is that unlike a few other products that have been in production for a long time is that it doesn’t fill a very narrow evolutionary niche. While we can point to vinyl having a major resurgence, higher-end turntables continued to tick over fairly nicely in the period where vinyl was ‘dead.’ It has remained Linn’s default turntable option for customers for its entire life – a more affordable model existed for a time but has been consigned to history. What is also noteworthy is that while this 2017 Majik specification unit looks superficially identical to the launch version, it is in fact rather different internally.

Samsung Notebook 9 Review

How, exactly, did Samsung fit a Windows PC inside the 1.8-pound Samsung Notebook 9 (starting at $999; tested at $1,199)? And not just any computer, but one packing a powerful a Core i7 processor, a comfortable keyboard, plenty of ports and a beautiful 13.3-inch display. If only its battery life and build quality were better, we’d have a phenom on our hands. Instead, the Notebook 9 winds up being a system that’s great for travelers who always find themselves near power outlets.

Design: There’s such a thing as too light

The Notebook 9 is so thin and light that one of my colleagues exclaimed, “I’m worried I’m going to break it in half, like a Pop Tart!” when they first held it. And while I like the idea of a notebook so lightweight that I can’t feel it in my bag, its metal body flexes under pressure more than I’m comfortable with.

Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 STF GM OSS Review

Introduction

The Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 STF GM OSS is a new short telephoto prime lens for the Sony A7 full-frame E-mount compact system camera. It’s the first Sony lens to incorporate a unique optical apodization lens element. It also features 13 elements in 10 groups including one aspherical and one extra-low dispersion element, built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, and has a minimum focusing distance of 57cm with a maximum magnification of 0.25x. Big test: The best GPS watches for cycling ranked and rated

We go riding with five top cycling watches

Any true sports watch comes equipped with GPS. Gone are the days of this location-knowing feature being a luxury addition, it’s now a necessity whether your activity of choice is running, skiing or hiking up mountains.

It’s a necessity for cyclists too. If you favour settling into the saddle over pounding the pavement, the more comprehensive cycle tracking offered by integrated GPS is invaluable. As well as being able to tell you everything from how far you’ve cycled to how quickly you pedalled to get there, it can help put your rides into context with data on elevation changes and handy route mapping.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Review: Living too large for everyday life

gray_raptor_moon_action

There’s one thing we can all agree on: the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is big. In the words of former NHL goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, it’s ‘humongous big,’ even, a mass of steel and aluminum that expands to spill over the edges of every parking spot and muscles its way across the white line onto all highway shoulders (if not sidewalks). It’s a truck that weighs enough to crater the ground below should you ever screw up enough courage to take it off a really sweet jump, and it’s long to the point where its back-up camera should probably come with its own back-up camera and satellite tracking of the area immediately around the vehicle – just to make sure.

It’s also a vehicle that has been purpose-built to do a very, very specific thing, at which it excels. If you’re seeking a Baja-missile that can fly low over the roughest terrain the planet can throw your way, then the F-150 Raptor is an impressive hunk of machinery with few, if any peers. But what if you just want to take it on a road trip for a weekend getaway?

Sony UBP-X800 review

Doing something for the first time can often be nerve-wracking. Bungee-jumping, for example, or going on a date. And making a success of it is even harder, as you venture forth into uncharted territory.

No doubt Sony had similar feelings with the release of the UBP-X800, the comany’s first 4K Blu-ray player. But it can rest easy; the X800 is a definite success.

So, let’s start with the ‘things a good 4K Blu-ray player should do’ checklist. First up: colour. We feed the X800 a copy of the 4K HDR documentary Planet Earth II, and the vibrancy of the colour immediately hits us.

Surface Laptop: The 5 things you really need to know

There are a few different things users will need to know before they purchase – or once they’ve already purchased – the Microsoft Surface Laptop. In this device is Microsoft’s newest best hope to take on their biggest competitor’s main notebook – the MacBook. At the same time, this device is the headliner for a software suite that’s not necessarily going to work all that well for all the people who plan on purchasing the hardware.

1. Windows 10 S is not for everyone

Microsoft built the slimmed-down version of Windows 10 called Windows 10 S for schools, so it’s a bit odd to see it running on a thousand-dollar laptop. One of the most divisive features of Windows 10 S is that it works with apps from the Windows Store, and the Windows Store only.

2017 Volkswagen e-Golf First Drive: VW’s EV puts Golf first, electric after

More range, more power, and more like a regular, gasoline Golf than ever, the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf is an EV you could forget runs on electricity. VW’s sole electric car in the US – which it currently only offers in ten states – it’s the vanguard of the automaker’s big electrification push due in 2020, when a production version of the I.D. concept will hit the streets. That promises can’t-miss-it design, range to rival the Bolt EV, and a whole new platform underneath. For now, though, the e-Golf is more about coaxing VW loyalists into something more surreptitiously green.

Mildly confusingly, the new e-Golf will be sold as a model year 2017 car, despite the remaining new Golf models that will follow it later in the year being model year 2018. It’s actually a calculated play around emissions standards and incentives on VW’s part, trying to squeeze the car in to make the most of what could be the last year some of those incentives apply.

2016-2017 SSR Motorsports Snake Eyes Review

Nothing brings to mind the down-and-dirty custom-bike days of the ’70s and ’80s quite like a UJM-based custom bobber, and SSR piles on plenty of that old-school with its street-retro Snake Eyes. Built for the entry-level customer, and anyone looking for a somewhat whimsical nod to the custom culture for that matter. A 19-horsepower, 250 cc thumper drives the thing — plenty for trips around town or campus, but the real story here is with the overall panache that looks to be straight out of the garage right off the showroom floor. Join me while I take a closer look at this fun little ride that so clearly is looking to capture part of the U.S. market.

New Balance PaceIQ review: Affordable sports earphones are outpaced by rivals

New Balance is no stranger to fitness, with sports gear and footwear already established, but gadgets are a newer complement to its product rosta.

In 2017 we’ve already seen the company’s RunIQ Android Wear smartwatch to assist fitness and workouts – a product which we had some reservations about – and now there’s the Jabra-powered PaceIQ earphones to fill such workouts with music to your ears.

The PaceIQ offer plenty of positives for an affordable pair of workout-friendly in-ears, but do these hook-design earphones perform well enough to keep you away from the competition?

The 10 most popular reviews on What Hi-Fi?

Wondering which products are proving popular in 2017? Our list of the most-read reviews in April should give you a good idea…

Another month, another wave of product hits the What Hi-Fi?  website. April’s been a month of gentle shufflings as opposed to seismic shifts, with a sprinkling of new entries keeping things fresh.

A quick peek at our analytics shows many of the usual suspects are still proving popular, but we do see an impressive pair of speakers make a big splash while new TVs from LG and Samsung also enter the fray.

There’s no move at the top of the pile, with the Sonos Playbase still king of our current crop of reviews. But, snapping at Sonos’ heels are B&W’s 805 D3 speakers. These high-end standmounters go straight in at number two in our list.
