2017 Fiat 500 Abarth Ares By Pogea Racing Review

The Fiat 500 Abarth is a cute little ride, isn’t it? It certainly looks the part of one, but being cute and cuddly isn’t the only thing appealing about the 500. It’s also understatedly customizable, which is why we’ve seen so many special edition iterations of the car, not to mention tuning programs from some of the best tuners in the business. Pogea Racing counts itself in the latter group, and it has a real doozy of a kit for the 500 that gives the subcompact hatchback an output of 405 horsepower and 328 pound-feet of torque. Seems fitting then that Pogea Racing has dubbed this creation as “Ares,” after the Greek god of war. This Fiat 500 Abarth is ready to rumble with the best of them.

The program has more than just a fancy name and ridiculous power at its disposal. It also has an extensive menu of carbon fiber parts for the exterior, a well-dressed interior that brings some life to the hatchback’s cabin, and suspension upgrades to help the car’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder handle all that extra power.

Sennheiser Ambeo Smart Headset preview: Exploring 3D sound

Sennheiser launched the Ambeo mic in 2016, taking a step into devices that were designed for 3D audio, or audio to support the sort of sound experience you’d expect in VR applications. The Ambeo VR mic does exactly this, capturing sound from all directions to reinforce that spacial definition in VR or 360 content.

The Ambeo Smart Headset joins original mic in having been designed to this type of “3D” audio in mind, but where the original Ambeo mic is a slightly niche offering for professional content creators, the Ambeo Smart Headset falls firmly into the consumer sphere, pardon the pun.

Originally announced at CES 2017, we caught up with some of the very first samples at IFA Global Press Conference 2017. Here’s our experience with 3D audio capture.

Hands-on Review : The Insta360 Pro wants to make professional VR filming affordable

Trying out the new 360 camera

If you’re looking for a higher-end 360-degree camera to create VR videos that won’t cost the price of a new sedan, your only option is the $5,000 GoPro Omni, which is pretty much six GoPros slapped into a rig. It’s a workable solution, but because it’s six GoPros working in tandem it can be inconvenient to arrange them for recording. You not only have to make sure all the cameras are charged near the same level, you have to hope one of them doesn’t give out and ruin your entire picture.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Insta360 Pro

The convenience of all-in-one options are only really available on both the high (Nokia OZO) and low (Gear 360) ends. With its new $3,499 8K 3D Insta360 Pro, which is available for pre-order today online, Insta360 is hoping to slot right into that gap. The company is no stranger to affordable cameras. Its Air and Nano are good options that let Android and iPhone users quickly share 360 videos to social networks. In our limited hands-on time with the Pro, it feels like the company might have something that could entice amateurs who want to take the next step, or budget-conscious YouTubers and small newsrooms that want to break into VR filmmaking.

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV Review: Electric all-rounder

All it took was one road trip and I was a Bolt EV convert. Chevrolet’s all-electric car may not be the automaker’s first attempt at the category – and indeed it joins the similarly-named Volt hybrid on dealership forecourts – nor the first to market, but it’s undoubtedly the first that feels ready not only for electric early-adopters but the mass market as a whole. With range that punches above even the official estimates, an enthusiastic driving style, and that sub-$30k sticker price after subsidies, there’s plenty here to like.

The Bolt EV’s styling has proved divisive. Maybe it’s from growing up in the UK, where hatchbacks are far more common, but I like Chevrolet’s upright design. Others have complained it looks a little too mainstream, though I suspect that’s intentional so as not to scare off new drivers.

Lenovo ThinkPad T570 Review

A 15-inch laptop for professionals, Lenovo’s ThinkPad T570 has the full numeric keypad and larger display that you won’t find on its little brother, the ThinkPad T470, while offering similar durability and (optional) long battery life. Starting at $1,073 ($1,607 as tested), the T570 offers more than enough performance for heavy multitasking, along with a comfortable keyboard and just about every port you could possibly need.

Design: Keeps it simple, smart

The ThinkPad aesthetic is a simple, clean, time-tested look, and Lenovo didn’t tweak it on the T570. The raven-black lid features a soft-touch coating (though it’s not as luxurious as the coating on the ThinkPad T470), while the bezel deck and underside are made of a sturdy-feeling black plastic.

Sony Xperia XZs Hands-on Initial Review: Bump Up and Slow It Down

Will the Slight Upgrade Make a World of Difference?

Along side the Xperia XZ Premium, Sony announced the availability of XZs and it has finally arrived at Unbox HQ. Before we give our initial impressions for the device, let’s take a look at its spec sheet.

Arcam rPlay review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Arcam rPlay

“You can do ‘most anything, now you’re a 21st century man” the Electric Light Orchestra once sang. Carry a thousand books in your coat pocket? Crack on. Hang a turntable on the wall? Go for it.

Hop aboard the streaming bandwagon without having to part with your CD player/amplifier combo – yes, that too.

New hi-fi isn’t always ‘out with the old and in with the new’; sometimes it’s just about adding to a system. Meet Arcam’s rPlay: the latest addition to the brand’s rSeries. It’s a compact, wireless-router-resembling streamer that can turn even the most traditional system into a plug-and-play-almost-anything network streaming set-up.

That’s thanks to the DTS PlayFi streaming platform, built into the rPlay, as well as a few products from Pioneer, Onkyo, Rotel and McIntosh. It unlocks the ability to stream music wirelessly from smartphones, tablets or laptops to speakers throughout the home, and from a range of music sources.

Nvidia G-Sync: Everything You Need to Know

Nvidia is the most well-known name in graphics cards, but the company has also become synonymous with something else: G-Sync. Launched back in 2013, G-Sync is a piece of Nvidia tech housed in certain computer monitors and gaming laptops to increase their performance, with a focus on reducing input lag and eliminating screen tearing.

gsync monitor key visual

If you’re in the market for a new PC monitor or a G-Sync gaming laptop, you’ll want to know the benefits of G-Sync — as well as how it compares to AMD’s FreeSync alternative.

What is screen tearing?

One of biggest benefits of a G-Sync monitor or laptop display is its ability to resolve an issue known as screen tearing. In certain cases, the video signal from the graphics card will output to the monitor at a rate the display is not capable of handling, which results in a horizontal line or “tear” across the screen.

Best Floorstanding Speakers of 2017

Serious about your speakers? Then it’s time to bring out the big guns.

Floorstanding speakers have one of the most recognizable profiles of all speaker types. They’re designed to slot in next to bookcases and TV cabinets, and their shape has two major advantages. Firstly, they pack more speaker drivers into a smaller amount of space, resulting in a more powerful and richer sound. Secondly, they take advantage of the space itself (or lack thereof). In our homes, much of our space is taken up horizontally by chairs, couches, and tables, but much less is taken up vertically. You don’t need a small apartment to justify buying a pair of them – most of them, especially the more expensive ones, will quite happily fill even a large room and create theater-quality sound.

10 classic Nokia phones that HMD Global should revive

A few months back, HMD Global, the new company behind the new Nokia smartphones, has announced the return of the iconic Nokia 3310. It’s not the same model though but a modernized variant. That said, we were wondering what other Nokia phones that HMD should revive and bring back to the market. Here are our top picks.

Nokia 3210

The 3310 is not the only legend in Nokia’s lineup. It’s predecessor, the 3210 is also one of the most popular and successful phones in history. It has customizable clip-on faceplates and an internal antenna. Even with its candy bar design, the 3210 is one of the sleekest mobile phones of its time.

Volta V Review: A Neat Gaming PC That Helps the Environment

At first glance, the Volta V (starting at $1,999; reviewed at $2,885) looks more hipster than gamer with its slick walnut case. But don’t sleep on it — this small, environmentally-friendly PC has more than enough power to support most of your gaming, VR and productivity needs. It’s a great departure for gamers who are tired of the same old flashing lights on every gaming desktop — or are just woke AF.

Design: Eco-Friendly Chic

The Volta V looks more like a miniature version of one of those swanky ’60s coffee tables than a badass gaming rig — and that’s the biggest part of the appeal.

Instead of delivering light shows, metal and glass, the Volta V has a case made from American hardwood (walnut, in this case), aluminum and 3D-printed steel. There is a bit of plastic in the makeup, but it’s hidden from prying eyes in the interior of the case. If walnut’s not your thing, you can get the system in bamboo. In short, this desktop is eco-friendly chic.

Drag race: Australia vs The World – HSV GTSR W1 v BMW M3 Competition v Mercedes-AMG C63 S v Alfa Romeo Giulia QV

Australia. It’s the country where there’s always an insect, animal or sea creature trying to kill you. It’s also the country that once housed a thriving car industry.

But, instead of crying over spilt milk, we’re showing the world one last time why the constant fear of death has inspired our local engineers to build a car that’s itching at the chance to chew you up and spit you out.

The manic HSV GTSR W1 (a title that’s yelled at you in text) represents the fastest and most powerful Australian production car ever built. With only 300 making their way to customer’s hands, it’s unlikely you’ll ever see one on the road.

Samsung Gear S4: What to expect from Samsung’s next smartwatch

We take a look at the latest talk and rumours

Samsung has been on a bit of a roll with its smartwatches. The Gear S2 and then the Gear S3 have somewhat made up from the more underwhelming launches of pretty much every other Gear smartwatch that came before them. That includes its one and only Android Wear effort.

With the rumours and speculation already rumbling about the Apple Watch Series 3, which is expected to launch later this year, it’s going to be over to Samsung to offer its riposte to Cupertino’s third-generation smartwatch.

Hands on: Toshiba Portégé X20W-D-10V review

It is difficult not to be amazed by the strides made by laptop manufacturers over the past few years when it comes to improving the general aesthetics and the size of notebooks. Indeed, this has happened to such an extent that Ultrabook-sized laptops have become the norm, making the term all but superfluous (interest in the term, according to Google searches, hasn’t been this low since it was first coined in 2011).

W2DeJw59HXxtpjhBX6uH8m-650-80

Toshiba’s Portégé series represents the company’s top of the range ultra-portable models. The X20W-D-10V is the 2-in-1 convertible candidate, which the Japanese manufacturer claims is the thinnest and lightest 12.5-inch business laptop with an Intel Core processor.

We’ll just stick to very light and very thin. The Z20t is its detachable alter ego with the Z30 series being the more traditional model with a fixed screen.

Hands-On Review: Polaroid SnapTouch Camera, ZIP Photo Printer

We put the Polaroid SnapTouch Camera & Zip Photo Printer to review today, after using it in the March 25 Episode of Pop Talk, GMA News TV. If you watched that episode or you haven’t, you should know that our company really enjoyed having the Polaroid devices to use. In fact, I was amazed that such a product exists — part old, part new.

The Polaroid SnapTouch camera is a digital camera with a touch screen & printer built in. You get to choose which photos to print, and you can even edit them. These are all packed in this aesthetically pleasing build. The Zip Photo Printer on the other hand is something more basic – connect your smartphone via an App and you get to print your photos as well. Both feature what Polaroid calls ZINK technology, meaning you don’t have to get ink cartridges… Zero Ink. All you need is the Photo Paper.

2014 – 2017 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Review

MV Agusta brings Granturismo to the table with its trio of sport-tour bikes in the Veloce family. We have the base model Turismo Veloce 800 plus the “Lusso” version that comes complete with panniers and other tour-tastic features. The “Lusso RC” takes it a step further with red, white and green racing livery and even more special features for the true, top-end bike fans out there. As a concept, the word “tour” seems to mean something different once you leave U.S. shores, evidenced by the lack of baggage on the base Veloce. Although the “tour” label is a bit of a stretch, the word “Veloce” means “fast,” and there can be no argument on that point whatsoever. Today I’m going to delve into this trio of Italian Stallions to see what kind of yummy-goodness the Meccanica Verghera Agusta packed in for our riding pleasure.

Project Scorpio vs Xbox One S: What’s the difference?

This summer, on the eve of the E3 videogames show in June, Microsoft will officially unveil Project Scorpio – its new Xbox console set to be the “most powerful” games machine yet.

It’s probably not going to be called that, more likely Xbox Scorpio or something similar, but it will undoubtedly put the cat amongst the pigeons in this generation of console gaming.

For a start, we already know a lot of the internal specifications, which put it very much as a premium machine over the existing Xbox One S. We look at just how different the two are to give you an idea of which you might want to adopt come this Christmas.

One of the major differences between the two machines comes with graphical hardware and the ability to render full 4K visuals.

Should You Get The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 and P1 Plus?

Is the dual-camera setup worth it?

A few days ago we showed you Cherry Mobile’s affordable dual-camera phones: the Flare P1 Plus and the Flare P1. Now both of these phones are pretty affordable as far as dual-camera devices go, with the Flare P1 Plus rocking a Php 5990 price tag and the Flare P1 being even more affordable, at Php 3,999. If you’ve been looking for a dual-camera smartphone and can’t afford Huawei’s excellent GR5 2017 which is priced at Php 11,990, then Cherry Mobile’s two new phones are pretty attractive options.

But, should you get them? It depends on how much of a compromise you’re willing to endure. See, while both phones still have dual-camera optics, Cherry Mobile had to cut back on a few other things to get the price so low. The Flare P1 Plus, for example, only has a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Now while those specs aren’t too bad, you’ll have to consider the other options available at the same price range, which have more RAM, storage and has octa-core processors.

2017 BMW R NineT Racer Review – First Ride

One could take two approaches to understanding what BMW has done to the R nineT to give us the 2017 BMW R nineT Racer. The glass half-empty crowd will talk about the components that fell away to help keep the Racer’s price down. The glass half-full perspective would stress the cool new additions to the platform that resulted in the Racer.

I’ve been of two minds ever since I first saw photos of the Racer’s swoopy, retro fairing last October. Visually, the motorcycle pushes my buttons, much in the way that the optional fairing equipped Triumph Thruxton R did when it was released. However, I have to admit that I am puzzled at how BMW could grace this R nineT with the name Racer while simultaneously removing some of its performance parts. Would helping to ease the entry cost of such a stylish motorcycle make up for the loss of a degree of sportiness? Well, after taking a nice, long sip, I think the BMW R nineT Racer is pretty tasty.

2018 BMW K 1600 B Review

Beemer brings its six-banger expertise and sense for the luxurious together in the K 1600 GT. It packs a whopping 160 horsepower onto a sled that benefits from dynamic suspension and ABS to name but a few of the comfort- and safety-oriented features. This highly-anticipated machine has been widely touted by the factory as having been built specifically for touring American roads, and as we all know, touring here means something entirely different than it does in Europe. Today I want to put this new Beemer head-to-head with another major import that is already entrenched in the battle for a slice of the non-American American tourbikes — the Gold Wing F6B from Honda . How will they stack up once the smoke has cleared?

Design

BMW K 1600 B

Right off the bat, I see some very definite similarities in the overall look of these rides. Everything looks well-planned out with nothing of “afterthought” features cobbled on, and this leaves me with a certain confidence in the vehicle as a whole. Up front we have wind-tunnel-tested fairings that provide a sizable “air pocket” for the rider while offering up ample protection from wind and weather, well, as much protection as one can reasonably expect on a motorcycle anyway.

Sony STR-DN1080 review

With the rise and rise of sound bars, could AV receivers are on the way out? Ask any home theater enthusiast and they’ll tell you “no,” but for many buyers who just want better sound for their TVs and music, a massive, black, input-infested box is much more intimidating than a skinny bar.

Sony tries to counter the increasing complexity of the modern receiver with its new STR-DN1080. Though it boasts the wealth of features and inputs typical of the breed, the company has applied a user-friendly sheen to help the receiver should appeal to both newbies and old hands.

The Sony STR-DN1080 is the follow-up to the outstanding STR-DN1070, our favorite receiver of 2016, and it patches that unit’s only significant hole — the lack of Dolby Atmos. The two receivers do sound a little different, with the older one sounding a little warmer and the newer a bit more home cinema focussed.

Goldring 1042 review

Goldring is Britain’s oldest cartridge company. It used to make turntables as well back in the vinyl heyday, so it’s safe to assume its bods know a thing or two about playing records.

Goldring also makes OEM cartridges for other well-known companies, and offers repair and refurbishment services few can match. Given the vulnerability of these things this is quite reassuring, especially if you have a fixed-stylus MC.

Build

The 1042 is not a new model. It has been in the range since the ’90s, when it replaced the 1040 (which looked pretty much identical). It is top dog in Goldring’s moving magnet range but it has to be said it’s not the sexiest-looking cartridge on the block.

Hands on: MaxOak K2 review

The MaxOak K2 is named after the world’s second highest mountain, and it’s a fitting moniker that manufacturer KayoMaxtar chose. After all, at 50,000mAh, this is one of the biggest portable laptop battery chargers available, with a literally mountainous capacity.

Just to put that in perspective, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has a 3,500mAh battery, meaning that the MaxOak K2 could potentially charge it more than 14 times over with some juice spare. And the popular Dell XPS 13 laptop could get a whole day’s worth of charge out of this accessory.

As expected, the K2 is built like a brick, measuring 207 x 136 x 33mm, and at nearly 1.28kg, isn’t far off the weight of a brick – it’s certainly heavier than most new ultraportable laptops (like the Toshiba X20W-D).
