2017 Alpina B7 Review: A BMW M7 by any other name

You wait a couple of decades for one BMW M7 to come along, and life brings you two. Well, not quite: neither BMW’s own M760i or this, the 2017 Alpina B7, is officially an M car, but then neither would you really want them to be. Go too far down that track and you end up sacrificing luxury in the name of raw performance, and that’s entirely at odds with the 7 Series raison d’être. Does that make the Alpina B7 a plutocrat’s sports pretender? No, no it does not.

It’s okay if you’re not familiar with Alpina. The company – Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH & Co. KG to give it its full, tongue-twister of a name – dates back to 1965, though rose to prominence in the late 60s and 70s with numerous touring car, rally, track, and other race wins. Today, it’s best known for giving its own spin on select models from BMW’s line-up.

2017 BMW 6 Series M Sport Limited Edition Review

Special edition models come to life for some different reasons, one of which is to keep a specific model relevant until an updated version, or a next-generation model arrives in the near future. That appears to be the case with BMW after the German automaker announced a new special edition 6 Series called the M Sport Limited Edition. It’s not a coincidence that this new special edition is arriving as we wait patiently for the fourth-generation 6 Series to arrive later this year.

bmw-6-series-m-sport-2_600x0w

To be fair, there’s nothing wrong with the 6 Series M Sport Limited Edition. BMW is well within its bounds to offer it as a way of keeping the current 6 Series relevant. It’s actually a good strategy in a lot of ways, especially for customers who aren’t keen on waiting for the next-gen 6 Series to arrive. A special edition version of the current 6 Series is a pretty good alternative to have. The 6 Series M Sport Limited Edition is made even more appealing by the fact that it’s available in all body styles of the 6er, be it the Coupe,Convertible, or Gran Coupe variant.

ZEISS ExoLens Edge For iPhone 6 Plus Review

Zeiss ExoLens PRO with Optics by ZEISS

Clip-on accessories for smartphones are available in abundance but the problem is, most are inexpensive and as a result, the build quality and images they produce aren’t usually anything to write home about. This is a shame as there are some pretty decent sensors and lenses in smartphones nowadays that with a little help, could produce images that even the most critical photographer could approve.

This is where the ExoLens system steps in as it’s a premium product that’s designed to transform your camera phone into a powerful photography tool. To bring the product to market, ExoLens teamed up with ZEISS to create a smartphone mount and lens combo where ExoLens provide the mounts and ZEISS bring their reputable, high-end lenses to the table.

It sounds like, and promises to be, a system that really can help iPhoneographers capture images that are vastly improved but does the system really capture images that are so good, the premium price tag that comes with the lens / mount combo is worth stretching to? These are the questions we’ll be asking as we put the ExoEdge and ZEISS lenses to the test.

AOC Q2781PS Review monitor with Swarovski crystals

Today we have a review of new monitor called AOC Q2781PS, which is difficult to attribute to any product category. The monitor can be called a gamer, but the specifications thereof have spoken quite to the contrary. Also you can call it a professional device for the job, but it is now really true.

AOC Q2781PS Review monitor with Swarovski crystals

In addition, the manufacturer decided to please all lovers of bright and shiny back side with Swarovski crystals, which look really nice. But how often do you look on the back of your monitor? So new AOC Q2781PS looks quite strange, but we would like to tell you about it, because it is quite an interesting topic for discussion.

AOC Q2781PS: Design

The main advantage AOC Q2781PS is design of its rear panel. I would like to say that here the entire corpus of interesting, but in fact it is not so – the manufacturer only confuse the reverse side and a little to stand.

2016 – 2017 Yamaha XSR900 Review

New-from-2016 in Yamaha’s sport heritage stable, we have the XSR900. Influenced by the classic “XS” series from the ’70s and ’80s, the XSR shows its roots with retro styling and stepped seating combined with just enough modern tech that you know you’re in the 21st century. At first glance, it looks like a nice little bike — compact and sporty. On second glance…and third…it looks like a whole lot of bike for an affordable price. I wasn’t expecting dual 298 mm front disks, beefy inverted forks and respectable power-to-weight ratio for less than 10 grand.

Design

Yamaha XSR900

With traction control, ABS and ride-by-wire with three power modes that you can switch on-the-fly, this little bike has a nice mix of retro looks and modern tech — a nice combination that we don’t always see at this price.

Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 vs Tag Heuer Connected: What’s the difference?

Tag Heuer has announced a new Connected watch, bringing some innovation to smartwatches with modularity.

It looks very much like the previous Connected watch, with both offering a sporty style and firmly placed in the luxury segment of the smartwatch market.

So which Tag should you go for? Here’s how the differences break down.

Audiovector QR3 review

With the Audiovector QR3s, you get what you pay for. No more, no less.

The Danish hi-fi manufacturer has made a name for itself through its trademark upgradeable speakers – speakers that you can buy one year and upgrade the next, with better drivers, an improved crossover or even a superior cabinet.

It’s quite the departure, then, for the company to introduce a speaker that’s an ‘as is’ design. There’s no upgrade path – just the QR3 floorstander we’re testing here, or its QR1 bookshelf sibling.

The Audiovector QR3s are also considerably more affordable than the brand has ever been before, suggesting a focus on attracting a new market. But without their big USP to entice buyers in, can these smart floorstanders make the same impact?

2016 – 2017 Triumph America / America LT / Speedmaster Review

Triumph returns in 2017 with three bikes in the America/Speedmaster family: the America, the America LT and the Speedmaster. All three models come with that bullet-proof 865 cc engine found in the Bonneville T100 and Thruxton.

Hanging onto its retro look but with modern tech where it counts, the America, its touringsibling, the America LT, and its black-and-bling stablemate, the Speedmaster, are nimble with not a lot of power, but still fun to ride. Triumph says of their Bonneville-based cruisers, “The heart and soul of British engineering reinvented with a splash of Stateside style.” I have to agree.

Triumph America / America LT / Speedmaster

Harley-Davidson gets play as the bad-boy’s bike, but Triumph sees its share of bad boys. Norman Reedus, Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando, Matthew McConnaughey and a host of other Hollywood tough guys have, in various roles, ridden Triumph motorcycles and even everyone’s favorite bad boy, Fonzie rode one when he wasn’t riding a Norton.

Seagate FireCuda SSHD 2TB review – hybrid solution suitable for both PCs and laptops

Nowadays, emerging technologies require the use of hard drives with even higher capacity. No matter if we store pictures, movies, video games or other data. Besides capacity, we need speed, too. Usually, we can make a cup of coffee or read an article or two, while waiting for the file to be transferred. Modern people, however, can’t afford to wait. Time is money! Option number one is buying an SSD. But for now, its price is too expensive and the device is not able to reach a good balance between speed, price, and capacity in one. The so-called SSHDs (Solid State Hybrid Drive) are here to help us. They offer a big storage capacity and at the same time great speed for opening programs, apps and even loading the OS, which a standard hard drive can not reach.

Today we will acquaint you with the 2.5-inch SSHD Seagate model – FireCuda Gaming. The version that we have chosen boasts the capacity of 2 TB. Seagate is a company that has been involved in the HDD business for quite some time, so we are sure that this review will be really interesting…

Ticwatch 2 (2017 update) review : A bargain smartwatch that’s surprisingly reliable

An impressive all-rounder at just the right price. If you’re willing to forego apps and put up with a small amount of effort to get up and running, the Ticwatch is an absolute steal. Look out for our review of the GPS and fitness features soon. If Mobvoi has managed to do this well, it could shift much, much more than the 10,000 Kickstarter watches.

This smartwatch does everything your smartwatch does and at just about half the price. Or at least that’s the sell of the Ticwatch 2, from Chinese tech company Mobvoi which comes with Google’s firm recommendation. It packs every big feature you could ask for from smartwatches in 2017 into a light, slim, inoffensive watch that’s available in a range of materials and styles.

It keeps things simple, it’s compatible with both iOS and Android and brings new ideas that gives Android Wear some real competition. And it’s $199, which is, probably by no coincidence, the price that comes up time and time again in surveys of how much people want to pay for a smartwatch.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Exceed v Holden Trailblazer LTZ comparison

If you’ve outgrown your large SUV, there’s only one way to move and that’s up. And, two manufacturers battling for your hard-earned rugged SUV dollars are Mitsubishi and Holden. The 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has reigned supreme in this segment in terms of value for money and drivability, but does the revised 2017 Holden Trailblazer have the goods to knock it off its perch?

mitsubishi-pajero-sport-vs-holden-trailblazer-21

The Pajero Sport (previously known as the Challenger) aims to combine value for money, features, off-road equipment and an all-new body in a segment once dominated by vanilla and rugged options that didn’t focus on ride comfort and creature comforts.

Holden’s Trailblazer replaces the Colorado 7 and adopts a more global name for the product. While it’s virtually identical to the Colorado 7 from the rear, the front has received a facelift and the interior has been transformed to offer a greater technology edge.

Top 13 Best Lenses For Macro Photography 2017

Here at ePHOTOzine, we have reviewed quite a few interchangeable lenses in our time so when you guys are out shopping for a new lens, you have as much information as possible for making your decisions with. Among our large review collection is a rather long list of lenses which are specifically designed to capture excellent macro images and as Spring’s on its way, we thought now would be the perfect time to count down the top macro lenses ePHOTOzine’s reviewed so when flowers do start springing up from the ground, you’re armed and ready with the right photography kit.

1. Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS

Sony 90mm Macro FE Mount (2)

The Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS is slick in use and produces excellent macro images. The price may be a little on the high side, but on the other hand, there is little choice for the Sony A7 range user, unless we look at less expensive manual focus lenses. Plus, it works so well on the A7R II that it should be an essential buy for those using this particular system.

ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom Review

Kết quả hình ảnh cho ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom Review

The ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom is not the company’s first “zoom” smartphone. In 2015, they released the original Zenfone Zoom, however, it didn’t get enough traction considering the price and competition. After two years, ASUS revived the Zenfone 3 Zoom with a fairly strong combination of premium build, dual rear cameras, capable specs, and large battery.

Design and Construction

Asus went back to the drawing board and had to re-think the concept that would best represent their “Zoom” line. As a result, the Zenfone 3 Zoom sports a very different look compared to its predecessor.

It’s no longer bulky and unwieldy but instead features a thinner profile with rounded sides. The design is akin to the Zenfone 3 Max but more attractive and in a way, has a similar appeal as the iPhone 7 Plus.

Globe vs. Smart : LTE and 3G Speed Test Results

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Globe vs Smart

OpenSignal just released a report comparing the performance of the 3G and 4G networks of both Smart and Globe and the results are very interesting.

In terms of 4G (LTE) availability, Globe was ahead of Smart at 55.25% vs. 39.36%. LTE availability is the proportion of time that a user has a 4G signal over the total time it is connected to the carrier’s network.

When measuring 4G/LTE speeds, Globe came in with an average of 7.42Mbps while Smart went ahead at 9.87Mbps. This is slightly better compared to the over-all average of 7.27Mbps the Philippines got back in Q3 2016.

2017 Ducati Scrambler Café Racer & Desert Sled Review

Ducati’s Scrambler line grows yet again in the ’17 model year with the addition of the Café Racer and Desert Sled. The Scrambler range has proven to be a veritable mine of possibilities as Ducati mixes and matches equipment to fit specific purposes. For instance; the features on the Desert Sled make it arguably the most off-road capable model in the entire range, and the Café Racer, well, it comes set up to look cool in an urban environment. Both rides get the same 803 cc mill that powers the rest of the Scrambler variants along with much the same chassis, but the differences, however minor, make all the difference in the world. I’ve been eager to take a look at these bikes, and I look at this as a chance to gauge what all Ducati has learned from a few years of customer feedback and factory testing, so let’s check it out.

BenQ HT2050 review

benq-ht2050-01

Like many decisions in life, whether to spend more money for a better picture is a matter of priorities. Most projector buyers can appreciate the difference in image quality between ultracheap units like the $150 iRulu BL20 and the significantly better $350 Epson 640, and most will also notice the improvement afforded by the even-better $550 Optoma HD142X over the Epson. After that, diminishing returns really set in.

The best sub-$1,000 projector I’ve tested so far this year is the BenQ HT2050, which costs $800. It definitely has a better picture than the Optoma, thanks primarily to darker black levels that lead to superior contrast. If you watch in a completely black room and want the best image quality you can get, it might be worth the extra money to you.

Hands on: Philips 55POS9002 OLED TV review

ImageGen

OLED is one of those technologies that always seems to be on the cusp of breaking into the mainstream. Every year we see more high-end OLED sets produced by the big players, and every year we’re blown away by their deep black levels and fantastic colour accuracy.

Unfortunately it still doesn’t look like OLED is about to trickle down to the mainstream anytime soon, but at least the number of manufacturers who are embracing the technology is growing, even if all of them are buying their panels from the same vendor (LG Display).

The Philips 9002 (full model name 55POS9002) is the company’s second OLED TV in six months, and is a follow-up to the company’s first OLED, the Philips 901F (55POS901F/12).

Despite the short interval between the two releases Philips has actually implemented a number of clever improvements in the 9002 that make it an interesting set to keep an eye on.

2017 Porsche 911 Avalanche By Gemballa Review

It’s been a while since we last heard from Gemballa, but like most tuners who’ve been around for as long as Gemballa has, these prolonged times out of the spotlight often lead to something worth waiting for. And so, the German tuner took its time to release its new program, but now here it is, the latest iteration of the Avalanche program that Gemballa has been building since 1985 for the Porsche 911. Gemballa’s extended experience with the 911 has yielded impressive results in the past, so it’s not at all surprising to see the latest member of that lineage come with plenty of aftermarket features, including power gains for the current-generation 911 amounting to an impressive 820 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. And that’s just the start of it because, well, it’s Gemballa.

True, the company has had some issues in the past, but none of those controversies has stopped it from being one of the best Porsche tuners in the business. That’s been the case then, and it continues to be the case with this new Avalanche program. You only need to take a look at the finished product to see how sophisticated this new program is. It has a rear wing and a rear spoiler, the exhausts look like jet turbines, and there’s even a GT-style fin at the back. How often do you see a Porsche 911 carrying a fin that big?

Big Screened Phones Are Getting Smaller

More people want big screens without the bulk

A few days ago a leaked schematic showing the Galaxy S8’s overall dimensions compared to its competitors hit the web which showed just how much screen to body ratio it had. While the Galaxy S8’s overall screen to body ratio is estimated at over 80%, it’s not the first phone to have an big screen stuffed in a small body.

In fact, we predict that flagship phones from other manufacturers will start to follow the same path that Samsung is taking with the Galaxy S8. Xiaomi’s Mi Mix, as ridiculous as it was from the get go, is the logical conclusion of an arms race that started with Samsung’s Note series of devices. The fact of the matter is, phones with big screens (5.5-inches and up) sell faster and better compared to phones that have smaller displays (sub 5.5-inches).

DJI Phantom 4 Pro review

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro feels like it was designed from the ground up to be the perfect assistant for a drone photographer. Expect to pay extra for those “pro” features in the name, but fantastic automated camera functions, robust controls and a frankly ludicrous top speed make it very easy to see where your money goes.

2017 Mazda CX-5 First Drive: Obsession pays off

Mazda finds itself in a tricky spot. The CX-5 is due for a refresh; however, it’s also the best-selling car in the company’s US line-up. Sales in 2016, in fact, accounted for a quarter of all Mazda purchases in the US. Get it wrong, and the 2017 CX-5 could end up doing more harm than good.

The temptation must’ve been to play it safe: tweak a few things here and there, polish up the styling, and push out a “new” CX-5 that would coast by on the positive reputation of its predecessor. Instead, the company chose to make its most popular produce the next major step in an attempt to redefine the brand. Mazda is going upmarket.

They’re calling it “Mazda Premium”, and it’s all about maximizing the emotional bond the automaker has with its customers. Less competition on price, and more rewarding of loyal repeat-buyers and “making people smile”. The cynics in the audience might argue it’s also what happens when you’re a niche, independent player in the automotive industry as a whole – Mazda has about 2-percent market share worldwide – and investing in electrification, autonomous driving, or anything too ambitious is pretty much out of reach for now.

LG OLED65W7 review

If you’re questioning whether LG’s OLED65W7 ‘wallpaper’ TV can really be worth £8000, then you’re probably not the target audience (the 77in version costs a cool £25,000, just in case you were wondering). LG’s flagship range of OLED TVs is aimed squarely at those looking for style, and to make the kind of statement your run-of-the-mill 4K HDR TV just can’t provide.

But we’ve experienced enough five-star OLED sets from LG in the past couple of years to know there’s every chance the outlandish styling will be backed up by some serious substance. Let’s put that theory to the test…

2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF First Drive: Hard top, easy decision

If the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF aims to introduce some hard-top practicality to the iconic little roadster, does it run the risk of losing what makes a Miata, well, a Miata? That should’ve been the question we asked when the Japanese company unveiled the RF at the New York Auto Show a year ago: instead, we were too busy being wowed by its innovative retractable roof and achingly pretty design. Fast forward to today, with the first of the MX-5 RF Launch Edition cars reaching the initial 1,000 buyers and the regular versions landing in Mazda dealerships, it’s time to get behind the wheel and ask the tough questions.

Grafting a new roof onto an existing design can be a recipe for disaster. The third-generation MX-5 hard-top was practical, but had a weird humped shoulder with the roof down, and looked a little ungainly in profile compared to the simplicity of its soft-top sibling. Faced with the same challenge over again, Mazda has not only opted to embrace the possibilities, but ended up with – to my eyes, at least – a better looking car at the end of it.

JBL Everest 300 review

Here at What Hi-Fi? we appreciate good sound quality, and understand the best way to get it on a restricted budget is to keep the tech involved simple.

Wireless ability can sometimes be the enemy of good sound, but the need to cut the ties is only getting more important.

The JBL Everest 300s are among the cheaper wireless headphones options. They are made up of highs and lows – which balance each other out somewhat.

Build and comfort

The JBL Everest 300s are roughly made in the Beats mould. Their lines are chunky, with a youth/street inflection.

They look good enough, but put them on your head and they stick out quite a way at each side. The cups sit on swivelling bases, making each earpiece an inch or two deeper than those of the Beats Solo 3 Wireless.

2017 Alpina B4 S Biturbo Review

When you line up the number of tuning firms who specialize on BMWs, you’ll inevitably come across Alpina, which technically started as an aftermarket company before turning into a manufacturer of its own after years of close ties with BMW. In fact,Alpina and BMW have become partners of sorts since most of the former’s models are integrated into the latter’s production lines, including the Alpina B7, which rolls from the same facility as the BMW 7 Series. That’s how far this relationship has come, and the German Ministry of Transport even recognizes it as such, designating Alpina as an automaker instead of an aftermarket specialist.

History lesson aside, Alpina is headed to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with a number of its latest creations, one of which is the B4 S Biturbo, an interpretation of the 4 Series according to the specifications of Alpina. Like most models to come out of Alpina, the B4 S Biturbo is technically a 4 Series, and the process by which Alpina uses to create the car isn’t too different from what expert BMW tuners like AC Schnitzer do. So while it is technically an automaker, Alpina’s methods are still closer to AC Schnitzer than it is to BMW, hence the approach we’ve taken here.

Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime Review

Hình ảnh có liên quan

Samsung’s latest budget smartphone, the Galaxy J2 Prime, was initially offered exclusively online through Lazada back in 2016 and it was brought to retail stores last February. It has the ‘Prime’ moniker we initially heard from the Galaxy J7 Prime but priced lower for budget consumers. A lower price tag also means less so here’s our review to find out if the handset is worthy of your hard-earned money.

Design and Construction

The Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime boasts a 5-inch TFT display. Along with the display is the inclusion of a front LED flash along with its selfie camera. The face of the J2 Prime resembles the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016).

Modem vs. Router : How They’re Different and What They Do

When it’s time to set up a home Wi-Fi network, it’s important to know exactly what kind of equipment you need. Everything starts with two pieces of gear: a modem that brings internet into your house and a router that directs that internet connection to all the computers, tablets, mobile phones and other connected devices you have on hand. The two devices work together to fill your house with cat videos, Snapchats and all the other things that make the web so wonderful.

Credit: Shutterstock/Casezy idea

Here’s a quick rundown of both types of networking gear, including what to look for and why you’re usually better off opting for a separate modem and router instead of a hybrid device.

Modems: Your gateway to the internet

To bring the internet into your home, you’re going to need a modem.
