JBL Reflect Aware review: Lightning earphones for sporty iPhone 7 users

With Apple having famously ditched the 3.5mm jack in the iPhone 7, we’re just on the cusp of audio companies rushing to flood the market. Among this first wave is JBL, with one of the first pairs of Lightning-equipped wired in-ear headphones.

They cost £170/$255, but their feature list and design should ensure you don’t think you’ve thrown your money away… shouldn’t they?

Although they look fairly standard on the surface, the design of the JBL Reflect Aware earphones is fairly unusual when you get up close.

This year, a staggering one-in-seven of all new vehicles sold have fought in this class, and there are more than 20 offerings from all over the world tussling for your love and money. Nothing creates quality quite like competition.

At the mainstream end of the market, no two cars have struck the balance between populism and quality as well as the Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson — both of which have just scored mild updates for the 2017 model year as a pre-emptive strike.

Bowers & Wilkins P9 Signature headphones preview: For those serious about their music

It was only a short while ago when Bowers & Wilkins unveiled the P7 Wireless, a wire-free version of its then flagship headphones and they are top quality – worthy of a premium tag for sure. However, the company has just gone one better. There are now a pair of headphones at the top of its line-up that make even the superb P7 and P7 Wireless models seem standard.

As part of the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations, Bowers & Wilkins has introduced the P9 Signature headphones, which benefit from its experience in super high-end audio performance and luxury design know-how.

In the past, the Signature label has usually been reserved for extraordinary, limited edition loudspeakers, such as the incredible Signature Diamond floorstanders, retailing for £11,000/$16,500 a pair. To get the badge, the product has to be the best of the best and be reference standard in its field.

Should you wait for the iPhone 8?

The iPhone 7 is appealing, but next year’s device could be sensational

Apple surprised us all this autumn by… honestly, not surprising us all that much. That’s because the iPhone 7 ended up not being the every-other-year overhaul we’re accustomed to, but rather another revision.

While its improvements over the iPhone 6s make it an excellent phone and the Plus model’s dual-camera array is super-impressive, we can’t help but wonder why Apple’s decided to keep the design first introduced with the iPhone 6 in action for a third year.

HANDS ON: LEXAR PRO 1800X MICROSD CARD

[su_slider source=”media: 39780,39781,39782,39783,39784,39785,39786″ width=”640″ height=”460″ title=”no”] [/su_slider]

Lexar’s Pro MicroSD card offers faster performance than most hard drives.

MicroSD memory is a magic trick – it has to be. Like something out of the Harry Potter universe, it’s small on the outside and expansive on the inside. For those of us who have been around a while, it doesn’t seem like that long ago when we expected a four gigabyte hard drive to offer more space than we would ever need.

Yet now, we’re looking down at a 64GB Lexar Professional 1800x MicroSD card that’s no bigger than a fingernail and weighs practically nothing. We’re reminded of Saturday Night Live’s 2005 parody of Steve Jobs introducing the so-small-it’s-invisible iPod Invisa that holds one million songs and floats in midair if you drop it. Like, we’re almost there.

Philips Hue Motion Sensor Review

You can control your connected lighting by app, from your smartwatch, by voice, and even by a good old-fashioned button, but Philips’ latest addition to Hue only cares when you’re around. The Hue Motion Sensor takes a hands-off approach to smart lighting, triggering scenes across any of Philips’ bulbs, lamps, or luminaires when you walk past, either for convenience, security, or both.

The hardware itself is a tiny white box with a domed motion sensor on the front. Above it is an ambient light sensor, while below there’s a status LED. Two AAA batteries come pre-installed; you’ll need a screwdriver to open the back panel in order to replace them, though Philips says they should last for 2-3 years of typical use.

philips-hue-motion-sensor-review-3

Since it has a flat base you can use the Motion Sensor free-standing, but Philips also includes a small wall mount. That screws into the wall and then the Motion Sensor magnetically attaches; the back is curved, so that you can angle it in different directions. Unfortunately, it’s the mount not the sensor which is magnetic, so you can’t just stick it to a refrigerator door or some other metal surface.

Hands on: AOC U3277PWQU review

Better-than-full-HD monitors are becoming cheaper with the average price of 4K models dropping markedly compared to just two years ago. That, coupled with the fact that most models now come with 60Hz input, means that there has never been a better time to buy a 4K display.

aoc-32-9-650-80

However, competition comes from 4K televisions which can often be purchased for less – until recently, you could buy a 40-inch 4K model for well under £300 (around $385, AU$500). But you won’t find smaller size TVs and there are a number of reasons why you should opt for a real monitor rather than a television display.

AOC sent us its latest large-size monitor, the U3277PQWU, a 32-inch offering which has yet to appear in the UK and will carry a suggested retail price of £579 (around $745, AU$970).

Porsche Panamera (2017) preview: A tantalising tech-fest

Say hello to Porsche’s new Panamera, shown off in all its glory at the Paris Motor Show 2016.

But let’s cut to the chase: the last Panamera was always a bit of a difficult car to look at. As one of the people we talked to in Paris said: “it looked like a dog doing its business”. And it’s certainly true to say that the Panamera’s rear aspect was difficult to get on with. It had a hunchback quality, to put it kindly. But to drive it. Well, that was the business – of a whole other kind.

Cut to 2016 and new Panamera (2017) feels much more palatable, much easier to get on with – aesthetically at least. Whisper it, but it almost feels like Porsche has been looking at the Tesla Model S – even the window line bears some similarity.

Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Gen) Review: Alexa goes everywhere

Amazon may have all-but stumbled onto its hit Echo speaker and the smart Alexa assistant that powers it, but the new $49.99 Echo Dot proves the retailer has no intention of letting that momentum slip. Resembling a hockey puck rather than the column of its sibling Echo, the smaller, cheaper Echo Dot actually has two goals: be the new entry-level device for those just getting started with Alexa, as well as making it affordable for existing users to spread her skills around the home.

Confusingly, this is actually the second-generation Echo Dot – Amazon refers to it as the “All New” model – though I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve never seen the original. That was given a limited release earlier this year, only available for purchase by voice command through the regular Echo, and discontinued once the initial stocks were sold.

LG OLED C6 4K TV review: The curved OLED master

When the term “OLED” is uttered around people who like TVs, there’s a twitch of excitement. An eye sparkles, an eyebrow raises, a corner of the mouth curls into a smile. That all comes down to the reputation that OLED has acquired: movie fans want to own an OLED TV, while LCD-LED TV manufacturers want to out-perform OLED TVs.

Where once the message was all about curved OLED, now it’s only this C6 that offers a curved display in the LG range, which also houses a full line-up of flat OLED panels, too, in the G, E and B ranges. Of those four, the 55-inch LG OLED C6 – with its catchy OLED55C6V name – is the most affordable proposition, matching the price point of its flat B6 sibling. Is it the 4K OLED TV to buy?

Oppo HA-2 SE review

Ever fallen for the same joke twice? We almost did upon our first viewing of the new Oppo HA-2 SE.

Being near-identical to the original HA-2, we yet again tried to peel back its stitched leather cover. It looks like it should open like a smartphone case, but sadly doesn’t.

The new ‘special edition’ version is the same pocket-friendly aluminium slab (12mm thick and weighing 175g), with the same neat volume dial in the top corner, and battery indicator on the side panel.

2017 Infiniti Q60 First Drive Review : Seeing Red

In an industry increasingly driven by bottom-line bolstering SUVs that cater to sales volume over anything resembling a passion for driving or design, the 2017 Infiniti Q60 is a ray of hope. Here is a car staged to take part in the vanishingly small sliver of the market given over to premium coupes – a segment devastated by the transition away from personal luxury to sport-utilities in the late 90s – and yet the investment made in the completely redesigned Q60’s every detail firmly communicates Infiniti‘s commitment to taking on leaders from BMW (the 4 Series), Mercedes-Benz (the C-Class) and Audi (the A5).

It starts with the sheet metal. A full day spent navigating the rapid two-lane roads that scythe through the hilly territory that encircles San Diego, California border like a gold-tinted scarf in a convoy of dark blue, deep red, and sterling silver Infiniti Q60s painted the eyes of passersby green with envy. Every single stop was extended by inquiries made to my co-pilot and I about the car, which proved impossible to ignore even on more isolated stretches of road where on one occasion a biker approached us from an eighth of a mile away to pepper us with questions.

The SilverStone SX700-LPT SFX 700W PSU Review

As PC gaming continues to grow, more and more PCs are finding their way into the living room. As such, the demand for small, elegant computers that are powerful enough to be used as gaming machines is constantly on the rise. Several reputable manufacturers have presented products specifically designed for living room PC gaming, from subtle gaming cases to specialized keyboards/mice.

One major challenge with developing these small form factor (SFF) gaming systems is power. A gaming PC can require a lot of power, which can be an issue with cases that only support SFX PSUs. As the market for SFX units is very low and such systems were not expected to have high power requirements to begin with, there are very few designs available with a power output higher than 500 Watts.

Vizio SB4551-D5 review : Sound bar with flat subwoofer makes sweet, discreet bombast

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Vizio SB4551-D5

Speakers are often designed to appeal more to the eye than to the ear. That’s why many modern sound bars are incredibly small — barely an inch tall. They still sound better than the speakers in your TV, however, and the best can pack a full-sounding punch thanks to separate subwoofers you can stash in a discreet location.

At the high-end you have brands such as Definitive Technology and Bose, while at the more affordable end you have LG and Vizio. We were quite impressed with the features and sound of the $400 LG SH7B, but the Korean company’s peaceful idyll is about to be disturbed by Chinese-American Vizio.

Despite a few usability quirks and an awkward name, the $500 Vizio SB4551-D5 is one of the best sound bars you can buy for home theater. It includes actual surround speakers — yes they’re wired and not wireless, but they still create an immersive soundstage that bar-only systems can’t match — and one of the most discreet subwoofers we’ve seen. These components help create superb sound for the money, and Google Cast is just icing on the flat cake

Coolpad Note 5 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs LeEco Le 2 vs Lenovo Vibe K5 Note : Specifications and features compared

Coolpad’s Note 5 steps into the already crowded affordable smartphone segment. It’s equipped with top-of-the-line specifications and is aptly priced, but can it outshine its competitors that include slightly powerful hardware?

coolpad note 5 launch

Coolpad last week launched its new affordable smartphone in India, called the Note 5. Successor to the Coolpad Note 3 that was launched last year in October last year, the Note 5 is also the company’s one of the ‘Made in India’ smartphones. It brings a host of improvements in the form of unibody metal design, 2.5D curved glass on the front, upgraded hardware and more at an affordable price tag. The Coolpad Note 5 will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, LeEco Le 2 and Lenovo Vibe K5 Note, all of which are quite popular in the segment. Here’s how these smartphones compare based on their price, specifications and features.

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan : seven things to like about this new mid-sized SUV

The all-new 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan is exactly what is says on the box –  all-new. But amongst the plethora of new features and extra kit, there are some standouts.

After spending plenty of time in the all-new Tiguan, these key features leapt out at us, begging for attention.

So what are these standout features? Here’s our pick of the seven cool things about the stylish medium SUV you simply can’t ignore.

1) It’s big!

The Volkswagen Tiguan used to be a small SUV, but now, according to VFACTS, it slots into the medium SUV segment. So, naturally, everything is going to be bigger.

It’s 30mm wider than the previous-generation Tiguan, which is especially noticeable when three adults are seated in the back without shoving shoulders, and it’s even possible to cross your legs because the second row can slide forwards and backwards.

CybertronPC CLX Ra review : A big performer in a big case

Kết quả hình ảnh cho cybertron pc clx ra

While not as well-known among deep-pocketed PC gaming enthusiasts as brands such as Alienware or Origin PC, CybertronPC has been knocking out highly customizable gaming PCs for years, and was best known as a place to get a real a la carte gaming desktop built from exactly the case and components you wanted for a reasonable price.

While keeping the sci-fi-inspired name (Cybertron is the home planet of the Autobots, after all), the company now has a high-end line of carefully tuned gaming systems, with premium looks and premium prices. The new CLX line tops out with the CLX Ra — yes, named for the Egyptian deity — which goes head to head with the highest-end gaming desktops we’ve tested in our Nvidia 1080 system roundup.

Top 10 Best Sony E FE Mount Lenses 2016

As we’ve reviewed all of the Sony E-Mount and FE mount lenses to date, we thought we’d pop the 10 top scoring lenses into a list so you can easily see which are the best.

A little lens background

You can use Full-Frame FE-mount lenses on APS-C Sony E-Mount cameras, and this will give you a 1.5x crop of the lens. For example, a full-frame 50mm lens will give the equivalent of a 75mm lens. You can also use APS-C E-mount lenses on full-frame Sony E-Mount cameras, and this will use a cropped area of the sensor, with the resolution of the image depending on the camera used. This will make an APS-C 50mm lens equivalent to 75mm.

Vava Voom 20 Bluetooth speaker review : Weatherized style with average sound

Stylish design, NFC pairing, and an evocative name highlight this small outdoor Bluetooth speaker. Audio fidelity, on the other hand, doesn’t make that list. The Voom 20 sounds good. Not great, not bad, just good; albeit with an above-average amount of bass, especially for its svelte dimensions (the speaker is enclosed in an approximately 7.6-inch-long, 2.8-inch-deep, 2.4-inch-tall flattened cylinder).

That’s great if you’re looking for a small, very portable, weather-resistant bass monster. But you’ll also want to know that this speaker’s upper mid-range and high-frequencies are a tad limited. Combine that with the constrained stereo separation that’s inherent in a small standalone speaker and I found myself turning the unit to the side or playing other placement tricks so I could pick out the separate instruments.

Best Android Phones Under 5.7 Inches

The industry has sort of agreed that phones with 5.5-inch screens are mainstream. The best phone you can buy at that size is the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

BEST OVERALL – Samsung Galaxy S7 edge

There’s no question that Samsung hit a home run with its Galaxy S7 line. We already think the smaller GS7 is the best phone under 5.2 inches, and the larger, curved-screenGalaxy S7 edge is our pick for the best phone under 5.7 inches. Why? It takes everything we love about the smaller phone and makes it bigger — but not too much.

This water-resistant phone is comfortable to hold, and even to use in one hand, while the internal specs are some of the best in the business — Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 in the U.S. and an Exynos 8890 internationally — with 4GB of RAM and a standard 32GB of storage. But it’s the dual curved display that is so arresting, with an infinity pool experience that really stands out amongst a sea of flat smartphones. That curvature also has a purpose, allowing for quick access to favorite contacts, apps, web pages, and more.

Lenovo TAB3 8 Plus details leak out

These years major mobile device events might already be over, but manufacturers are always churning out products all year round. And whileLenovo already has a rather curious, even enticing, Android tablet revealed at IFA last month, it hasn’t forgotten consumers that may want something less eccentric, not to mention less expensive. Following up on MWC 2016’s TAB3 8 slate, a certain TAB3 8 Plus has just been sighted, with specs that border the middle and high ends of the tablet market, probably scheduled to roll out before 2016 ends.

Image result for Lenovo TAB3 8 Plus details leak out

Last February, Lenovo introduced three tablets as part of its new TAB3 lineup. One of those was the Lenovo TAB3 8, which sat nicely between the entry level TAB3 7 and the “business class” TAB3 10 Business. This new model, however, trumps them all, even the supposedly higher end 10-inch tablet.

Q Acoustics M3 review

By all rights, the new Q Acoustics M3 soundbar should have a five-star review in the bag.

After all, it builds upon the Q Acoustics Media 4, which has been our favourite budget soundbar (and Award-winner) since 2014.

An updated and sleeker design, extra features such as an HDMI input, and a clearer, more detailed sound should all point to the M3 easily beating its older sibling.

And yet there’s only £30/$45 difference between them, which means that things haven’t quite gone the way Q Acoustics would have wanted for this £300/$450 soundbar.

Build

That said, the new Q Acoustics M3 improves on the Media 4 in many ways, the most obvious of which is the design. The M3 looks sleek and modern.

Best Wi-Fi Routers 2016

There’s a traffic jam in your home, with a wide array of connected devices — from smartphones and tablets to laptops and media streamers — competing for a share of your wireless network. The average home has more than eight connected devices, market research firm IDC says. Routers that support the latest wireless standard, called 802.11ac, help alleviate those issues by providing more than four times the throughput of 802.11n hardware. Plus, by using a more efficient process, the latest routers can help save battery life on your mobile devices. But not all 802.11ac routers are created equal.
