McLaren 675LT Spider First Drive Review

I’m piercing the Scottish idyll in the McLaren 675LT Spider, and 25 feet to either side I imagine observant lichen rattle in the wake of the LT’s turbulence, smugly impressed before reverting to their simple-life ways. Only a road definitively signals that man has actually been here before, and in this setting one could plausibly argue that asphalt is a natural phenomenon.

iOS 9.3.2 Appears To Be Wrecking 9.7-inch iPad Pros

Some users may be eager to update their iDevices to iOS 9.3.2, an update released today (May 16) that supposedly “fixes bugs and improves the security of your iPhone or iPad,” but 9.7-inch iPad Pro owners need to pump their brakes. Users are reporting that the update turns Apple’s latest tablet into a highly expensive paperweight, and one they cannot fix on their own.

This is according to comments posted to a MacRumors forum thread by users that claim the update renders their tablet useless. The failure starts by showing users an “Error 56” message that tells them to sync their tablets with iTunes, an action that doesn’t appear to fix the problem.

Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro v BMW 330i v Mercedes-Benz C250 Comparison

There was time when the Audi A4 had the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the gold standard bearers of mid-sized premium goodness, in its crosshairs from a sniper-like distance. But the four- and five-doors from Ingolstadt have made the long and patiently crawl closer to point where, today, the recently launched, ninth-generation A4 marks the enemy at point blank range.

Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro v BMW 330i v Mercedes-Benz C250 Comparison

Conspicuously, Audi has pushed the ‘modernisation’ and ‘tech’ barrows to create distance from A4’s age-old reputation as the also-ran. But truth is, the sedan and even fresher-faced Avant have lifted their game across the board in all facets that improve the breed. Not only does this new range face-off against BMW andMercedes-Benz on even ground, it seeks to move the medium sedan game forward and become the benchmarker.

First Ride Review : 2016 KTM 350 EXC-F Dual-Sport Motorcycle

2016 KTM 350 EXC-F, sliding

KTM’s message about the EXC is clear; this is not a streetbike.

THEY SAY: “Best in class.”
WE SAY: “We wouldn’t want anything else.”

Especially with the swelling tide of adventure touring (ADV) models to be had, there have been plenty of stories written about the off-road capability of streetbikes. But realize, please, that when we journalists rave and gawk at the relative ease with which a 500- or 600-pound behemoth plods down a two-track road, it’s all relative. They are amazing feats of engineering, it’s true, but genuine dirt bikes they are not, and nothing makes that more evident than riding an actual off-road machine.

Camera Shootout : HTC 10 vs. LG G5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7

Introduction

Cameras are just about the only thing in a smartphone that gets a meaningful upgrade each year and we keep a close eye on that. HTC was late to the Galaxy S7 vs. LG G5 party, though, so let’s have a do-over!

We’ve prepared a detailed text article complete with full-res camera samples and all, but if you are more into video, you can also check out the video version of this camera shootout embedded below.

The big news with the HTC 10 is that UltraPixel has been resurrected and the second generation promises to fix the mistakes of the first. 4MP were never going to cut it, not even in 2013, but now 12MP seems to be the sweet spot. They may not be 2µm pixels like before, but are 1.55µm big.

Hands-on with Garmin’s new Vivosmart HR+ (now with GPS)

They grow up so fast.  Less than two years ago the original Vivosmart was a slightly awkward and kinda scrawny activity band.  It’s dim display hardly living up to its fitness features.  Then just this past fall came the Vivosmart HR.  It included an optical HR sensor, along with a fairly sharp display and much greater smartphone integration.

Garmin-Vivosmart GPSRunning

But today – boom!  It’s now got GPS!

Yup, the just announced today Vivosmart HR+ takes nearly an identical form factor to the Vivosmart HR and adds in GPS, along with some new modes and run-specific workout options.  Basically, it got smarter (get it, Vivosmart got Smarter?  No? Ok, nevermind…).

StarVR and Acer Could Create Best VR Experience Yet

Acer’s joint venture with StarVR isn’t about taking Oculus or HTC head on. It’s about creating an even better VR experience for theme parks.

If you’re going to strap a virtual reality headset to your head, you want to feel like you’re truly immersed in the environment, not like you’re just watching content in a headset. Starbreeze and Acer have formed a joint venture to bring a better VR experience to the masses with its StarVR head-mounted display.

At least initially, the two companies will focus on theme parks and other location-based entertainment venues instead of the home market. Their secret weapon? The StarVR headset boasts a unique 210-degree field of view. This makes the viewing area considerably wider than the 110-degree view of theOculus Rift and HTC Vive. By making your peripheral vision a part of the action, StarVR strives to make virtual reality feel real.

Sennheiser HD650 vs HD700 Comparison Review

When it comes to mid-fi headphones, Sennheiser always gets a good rep – and with good reason.  From theHD600 on up, time and again we see people falling head-over-heels in love with their headphones.  But if you’re new to the Sennheiser lineup, and you’re debating on the Sennheiser HD650 or the HD700, which one do you opt for and why?  We’ve boiled it all down for you.Sennheiser HD650 vs HD700 Comparison Review

For my comparison review, I used the Beyerdynamic A20 desktop amplifier.  It’ll drive anything up to 600 ohms, and it has dual output, so I could drive both Sennheisers at once and switch between the two as I saw fit.  Personally, if I were listening to just one, I might pair it with the HifiMan EF100 for a slightly warmer sound, or for the always-impressive Chord Mojo.  Suffice to say, though, that the A20 is more than capable of handling both of these ‘phones, and with ease – even if the amp does add a little more contrast to the sound.
