Electric car company Tesla has begun issuing first-order specification lists to those that’ve previously expressed interest in the Tesla Model X. Amongst the choices they’re asked to make are paint color, wheel size, and whether or not they’d like the option to go ludicrously fast in their vehicle. Signature reservation holders began reporting last night that their configuration dashboards were available for tapping and ordering. The base model will cost limited edition first-run customers approximately $132,000 USD.

Lenovo has a new Ideapad that is poised to take on Microsoft’s Surface slates. It features a 12-inch display and the same sort of folio and kickstand design as you’d find on the Surface, as well as some of Lenovo’s own features (namely software), and its own design flavors.
The MIIX 700 won’t come cheap, though it’ll cost less than certain Surface slates: the model starts at $699 USD, which is just about mid-to-high range when looking at competing models.

Acer Revo Build hands-on: Mini PC goes oddly modular
Building a PC isn’t unusual, and even small-form-factor computers can be pieced together DIY-style, but Acer is hoping to lure even technophobes with its modular model. The Acer Revo Build, announced at IFA 2015 today, has the tiny footprint we’ve come to expect from a SFF chassis but splits its core features into different blocks.
So, at the bottom you have the graphics block, with the main PC section – the only part with an obvious Acer logo – stacked on top of it. Above that, there’s what Acer’s calling the “Voice Block”: effectively the audio section, with a headphone amp and physical volume knob.

Huawei Watch priced for $349 Apple Watch battle: Hands-on
Huawei is going all-out with the Huawei Watch, aiming to raise the Android Wear bar as well as directly take on the Apple Watch in pricing. The new wearable goes up for preorder today, kicking off at $349, and is one of the few Android Wear watches to come in a relatively wide variety of styles and finishes. All get a bright, responsive 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen.
Huawei actually announced the Watch back in March at Mobile World Congress, and it stood apart from its Android rivals even then. It’s one of the most watch-like examples of a smartwatch so far, helped by the fully-circular display – with no “flat tire” like the Moto 360 suffers – and slim bezels.

ASUS GX700 gaming laptop rocks liquid cooling and mystery GPU
ASUS has tossed a new laptop onto the market during IFA 2015 called the GX700 and the machine is a beast. It’s aimed directly at the gamers out there who are willing to pay for the most powerful portable gaming system in the land. ASUS is still a bit coy specs for the GX700 so we don’t know everything about it just yet.
What we do know is that it has a water cooling system that is presumably housed in that big container that sits on the rear of the machine like a docking station. When docked we are thinking that the machine can be over clocked to high heaven, but runs at normal speed with normal cooling on the go.

ITC clears Microsoft in 8 year old patent case, Lumias safe
It would have been a devastating blow if Microsoft was blocked from importing its next batch of Lumia smartphones even before its Windows 10 Mobile OS got out the door. That crisis, however, has been just averted when the US International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled in favor of Redmond in a patent case that InterDigital brought against Nokia way back in 2007. According to the ITC, Microsoft did not infringe on InterDigital’s patents, which saves it from a potential import ban that could affect its Lumia smartphones.

Google’s self-driving car gets confused by cyclist’s track stand
We’ve been hearing about Google’s self-driving cars getting into fender-benders before, mostly at the fault of other vehicles with a human behind the wheel, but recently one of the autonomous vehicles got a bit confused by a cyclist at an intersection. Did the car not recognize the cyclist and almost collide with him? Nope. Turns out the rider was simply doing a track stand — where they keep the bike upright at a stop without taking their feel off the pedals — and the car couldn’t tell if they were moving or not.
