Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C power bank review: A high-capacity USB-C power bank that’s ridiculously fast and futureproof

A high-capacity USB-C power bank that’s ridiculously fast and futureproof, we review the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C power bank.

Anker’s PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C is the first commerically available USB-C power bank we’ve tested , and it gave us a great first impression of the technology.

At a first glance the PowerCore+ would appear to be a dual-output power bank that charges itself over USB-C. Look again. It’s not just the connector itself that’s reversible, since that USB-C port also works both as an input and an output, and can operate at up to a stupidly fast 15W.

2016 Volvo S60 T5 Inscription review: Letting go of the wheel for convenience, safety

THE GOOD

The 2016 Volvo S60 T5 Inscription adds more room for rear seat passengers, while a set of driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, takes some of the stress out of parking and traffic.

THE BAD

The infotainment system is difficult to navigate and often demands that you take your eyes off the road. Bland exterior styling will not appeal to those who want a character-driven car.

ASUS G752 Review

The days of needing a fully loaded gaming desktop to play PC games at their full potential are dwindling. Just take a look at Asus’ ROG G752 notebook (starting at $1,499, $1,799 as tested), which provides high-end performance within its monstrous yet sleekly self-contained design. The G752’s Nvidia GTX 970M GPU can handle just about any game you throw at it, and the notebook’s G-Sync functionality ensures that you can play your favorite titles with no nasty screen tears. Factor in its suite of handy gaming software, and you’ve got a beefy laptop that’s worth your attention ” so long as you have the cash and space for it, that is.

Lumsing Grand A1 13,400mAh power bank review: A no-frills pocket charger for your phone and tablet

Lumsing’s Grand A1 is a dual-output power bank with plenty of capacity for charging multiple mobile devices on the go. We review the Lumsing Grand A1 power bank, which you can buy from Amazon UK for £23.99/$36.

Built into a silver aluminium shell with blue trim and black polished plastic ends the Lumsing Grand A1 is a good-looking power bank that feels as though it should be resistant to wear and tear – a good thing, since no carry case is supplied. For a power bank of this capacity it’s not overly large or heavy, weighing in at 262g and measuring 98x79x21mm.

Lenovo Yoga 700 Review

The Lenovo Yoga 900 is the current cream of the 2-in-1 crop, but if you’re looking for the same level of utility for a little less money without compromising much on performance, Lenovo’s Yoga 700 ($829 as reviewed, $529 to start) is here to fit the bill. Its plain black exterior isn’t much to look at, but this 14-inch system has got it where it counts, including the latest sixth-generation CPUs, a simple design and, of course, a sturdy 360-degree rotating hinge. Should this system be at the top of your list?

Onkyo X6 review

Not long ago people were carrying around mobile phones larger than the Onkyo X6.

There is something to be said for the obscure when it comes to wireless speaker design – the market is filling so fast, of course you need to stand out – but, if you can make a bar like this sound good and remain affordable, you can dispense with the science-fiction movie props.

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2016 review — One Color, Many Advantages

Keyboards have gone full RGB, and there’s no going back, or so it seems. Everywhere you look, a veritable rainbow of keyboards showcases a full spectrum, and each charges an extra $30 or $40 for the privilege. What’s a gamer who puts functionality before aesthetics to do? Well, for starters, he or she could take a look at the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2016 ($110). Although it lacks the Chroma options of its more colorful cousin, the BlackWidow Ultimate is a highly competent, no-nonsense keyboard with a comfortable configuration, helpful software and a reasonable price.

Mohu BeBox Speaker Review

Sometimes the most unlikely pairings can make the most beautiful music. Mohu’s BeBox ($449) pairs a massive speaker with an integrated Android KitKat tablet, creating a hybrid device that offers several modes of use with 8 hours of battery life. That’s all well and good, but Mohu’s making a play for the bass junkies, stuffing a 6.5-inch subwoofer into the case for lows so deep you can literally feel the vibrations. Throw in a built-in handle and you’ve got a (fairly) portable party starter.

Amazon Fire tablets get night-friendly display mode

Amazon is pushing out a software update to its Fire tablets, and among the features it brings is one becoming increasingly common — a nighttime-friendly mode that reduces blue light output to increase one’s odds of falling asleep. The idea is that blue light makes it harder to fall asleep, and thus the nighttime use of tablets and phones disrupts one’s sleep quality…unless they have this kind of display mode.

Nintendo video compares New3DS loading times against its predecessor

Loading times are the bane of every gamer. As seconds of loading screens add up to precious minutes over time, you start to wonder just how much more of the game you could play, if it would only load faster.

I’ve even put down games, just because I hated dealing with constant, long loading screens (I’m looking at you GTA Online).

New Volvo S90 has Swedish take on luxe and autopilot

Volvo’s Swedish parents might be self-effacing, but the car firm is hoping to put the frighteners on Mercedes and Audi with the new S90. A bold and curvy luxury sedan, the new flagship for Volvo’s line-up has been revealed today, complete with styling cues borrowed from the XC90 SUV and a semi-autonomous drive feature, dubbed Pilot Assist.

Pilot Assist doesn’t quite make the S90 a self-driving car, but it’s getting closer. Intended, like Tesla’s Auto Pilot, to operate on the highway at speeds of up to 80 mph, it can track lane markings and automatically keep the car within the lines.

The Surface Phone rumor that refuses to die, coming H2 2016

With the relative popularity and, only recently, financial success of the Surface Pro tablets have had many fans clamoring for applying that same design and ideals to a flagship smartphone. Years have passed and Microsoft did launch a new flagship, but the Lumia 950 and its larger 950 XL brother is a far cry from the Surface Phone many have been dreaming about. There have been early rumors of a Surface Phone already in the works, but, according to Windows Central, that’s completely dead. To be replaced by a new Surface Phone rumor, of course.

Researchers use Microsoft Kinect to take better X-rays

Next time your parents claim that nothing good would come from gaming, this little anecdote might tide things in your favor. Of course, it’s gaming technology that’s in focus here, but we’re not going to split hairs. Microsoft’s Kinectcontroller has become one of the most hacked and repurposed gaming peripherals in the market and that kind of modification might soon benefit medicine as well. Researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine have developed a way to reduce radiation exposure when taking X-rays by reusing the technology found in the Kinect.

VW to pare down trims and model variants to cover fines

VW is certainly feeling the pinch as sales numbers decline in the wake of the emission cheating scandal with the firm’s diesel vehicles. Most recently the issue expanded to include VW 3.0L diesel engines across VW, Audi, and Porsche brands. While VW recently launched a new model variant with the Beetle Dune, it may be a while before we see additional new trims and variants added to the line.

Vivo X6 and Plus released, both join the HTC/iPhone lookalike club

This week the folks at Vivo have decided to reveal a set of device by the name of Vivo X6 and Vivo X6 Plus. These devices should look fairly familiar to you. They have a set of details that will remind you instantly of either an HTC One or an iPhone, depending on what you’re more familiar with. They might even remind you of a Samsung Galaxy S6. They’ve all joined a family of machines that come from a single design philosophy – one where the front of the phone is white or black and covered with glass while the back is metal or glass and has two two antenna bands.

Inside OZO, Nokia’s audacious plan for its VR future

Virtual reality may be new for Nokia, but reinvention isn’t. The story of Nokia’s various incarnations is one that has been told many times over the past decade. Sure enough, the company best known today for its cellphone business was once a major producer of paper products, of rubber, and of cables.

Embracing change isn’t the same thing as doing well at it, though. Nokia’s decision to go all-in with Windows Phone was a bold one – some still argue just plain foolish – and it ended with the company selling off the division that most people associated it with.

Lamborghini Urus to pack a 4.0L twin-turbo V8

Say the name Lamborghini and most will think of exotic sports cars that have a V10 or V12 heart. You might not think about SUVs, even though Lambo made one back in the late ‘80s to early ‘90s called the LM002. Lambo has a new SUV in the works and this one is called the Urus and while you may be hoping for a V10 or V12 under the hood, Lambo has other plans.

The Italian automaker has confirmed that the Urus SUV will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine. The engine will displace 4.0L and exactly how much power the engine makes we don’t know. Anything with the Lamborghini name on it will need to make serious power and the Urus is sure to do that.

Samsung Galaxy S7 release will see few aesthetic changes

The changes to the Galaxy line of smartphones for Samsung in 2016 will be largely “in the details” as it were. Word from Korea is that the smartphone maker will focus on updating the tinier details – like processor speed, camera power, and display quality. This is in stark contrast to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Plus releases in 2015 where the so-called “Project Zero” phones were given a giant overhaul from the outer designs of the Galaxy S5 and S4 before them.

Google Hangouts for iOS quietly updated with Apple Watch support

Google has released a subtle update to the iOS version of its Hangouts messaging app. While the small list of changes includes mentions of group names appearing in notifications, and the ability to reply to messages directly from notifications, the real surprise is that the app works on the Apple Watchnow. While Facebook Messenger and even BBM have already come to the Apple Watch, Hangouts is at least better late than never.

LG Zero, company’s first all-metal smartphone, goes global

Although Samsung has finally moved over to metal for its premium line, its chief Korean rival has remained solidly on plastic for the past two or so iterations. So when LG did finally unveil its first metal clad smartphone last September, there was a bit of excitement. Sadly, the LG Class, as it was called, was exclusive to the South Korean market. Today, LG is offering some glad tidings. It is making that smartphone available globally as the LG Zero. The bad news? It is a far cry from being a flagship contender.
