Acer Predator Helios 700 review [Core i9-9980HK + RTX 2080] – a desktop in a laptop disguise

Every now and then we lay our hands on a special device in our office. Between the ultrabooks, the thin and light gaming laptops and the 2-in-1s we are able to enjoy a great amount of sheer power. It was about that time, last year, we got the Acer Predator Helios 500. It was (and still is) a monstrous piece of machinery. Equipped with a Core i9-8950HK and a GTX 1070 it was one of the best gaming laptops we’ve tested.

Vivo iQOO first impressions: A killer budget gaming option

[su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/UXjr-IMzKYo”]

Vivo flew me out to Shanghai this week to attend the Mobile World Congress that was taking place because they wanted to show us some of the cool stuff that they were debuting at the show. But, before we were blown away by their insane fast-charging solution, Vivo Malaysia let me check out something I thought was even QOOL-er. It was their new gaming smartphone, the iQOO, and I was surprised because it looked like Vivo were finally making a device that someone like me would be interested in: A bang-for-buck handset.

3 Old Speakers That New Audiophiles Want

Active and wireless loudspeakers may be the future of the category, but the desire for old has never been stronger in audio. Vinyl, audio cassettes and reel-to-reel have all made a comeback and there is a new movement afoot for high-end loudspeakers that look like your daddy’s speakers from the 1970s. Nostalgia may be driving the trend for some, but the loudspeaker brands at the tip of the spear are betting heavily that consumers will pay for these high-performance speakers that date back to the mid-1960s.

Dell U4919DW monitor review: Spacious and totally worth it

The Dell U4919DW is probably overkill for average users but for those looking to be productive or who use multiple windows, it’s a lifesaver.

Monitors are the second most important part of your desktop setup. Without them, you wouldn’t be able to use the first important part, your actual desktop. So choosing a monitor is nearly as important as choosing the internal components of your desktop. The Dell U4919DW widescreen monitor is one choice you’re not going to regret.

Xiaomi Mi 9T vs Xiaomi Mi 9 vs Redmi K20 Pro Camera Comparison

There are fewer phones out in the market right now that are more exciting than the Redmi K20 Pro. It’s got the trifecta of great performance, premium build and an affordable price tag, and it does it so well that some even call it the spiritual successor to the Pocophone F1.

But, unlike the Pocophone F1, the Redmi K20 Pro has — what appears to be — a proper flagship camera setup. A triple camera setup that consists of a 48MP wide camera, an 8MP telephoto and a 13MP ultra-wide.

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Is a Big SUV that Will Pack Big Changes Underneath

A radically different suspension setup should help the Chevy in its fight against the Ford Expedition.

The Chevrolet Tahoe, the Silverado’s uptown relative and the gold standard of large American SUVs, is about to get redone. This next-generation Tahoe will make the long-awaited switch to an independent rear suspension. Without the solid axle bouncing around under the feet of third-row occupants, the ride and handling should improve. We also expect increases in passenger and cargo volumes as a result of the new rear end.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB GDDR6) vs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) Comparison

We continue with our GPU comparisons today with a different one. We’re going to look at the lower tier RTX 2060 (6GB GDDR6) compare to the higher tier, but older, GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5).

Specs overview

Comparing these two cards is an interesting story. Though different tiers, the new RTX 2060 is a good competitor to the GTX 1070. It boasts 6GB of the new and fast GDDR6 memory compared to the 8GB GRRD5 of the GTX. And it has a lower power consumption – 90W compared to 120W. But the RTX falls behind in terms of clock speed and core count. The clock speed on the RTX is 960 MHz – 1200 MHz (boost) compared to 1442 MHz – 1645 Mhz (boost). The core count is relatively similar – 1920 and 2048 respectively.

Xiaomi Mi 9T/Redmi K20 review

Introduction

Ponder a bit too long about getting a Xiaomi phone and chances are a new one will pop up, making your decision even tougher. After the Xiaomi Mi 9 made the headlines as one of the first devices to come out with the Snapdragon 855 chipset earlier this year, now a more balanced model from the same family is up for grabs – the Mi 9T – and it’s gotten rid of that eyesore of a notch.

Valve Index Controllers review: These revolutionary VR controllers need patience to hit full potential

It’s going to take patience and a lot more developer support to make the Index Controllers viable

Last month we put out some initial impressions of Valve’s new Index virtual reality headset. I’ve now used it off-and-on in my home for about a month, and the first units are going out to consumers, which means it’s time for a proper review.

It’s a bit odd though, reviewing the Index. Valve’s hands-off approach to its hardware, its lead-and-the-developers-will-follow mindset, means the Index’s first few steps into the limelight are more tepid than I would’ve liked. The hardware is great. The software support so far? Less so.

Five Supercars with Less Horsepower than the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

The 2020 Shelby GT500 Mustang is a force to be reckoned with—it is the most powerful production car Ford has ever made, boasting more raw power than even the Ford GT. In fact, the GT500’s supercharged V8 makes an impressive 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. Even Dodge’s Hellcat twins and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR2 fall short of that power figure.

Ulefone Power 5S rugged smartphone review

Ulefone is one of the better known Chinese smartphone vendors outside the big eight (Huawei, Vivo, Xiaomi, OPPO, Honor, Meizu, OnePlus and Lenovo). Yes they do vie for scraps but in a market of more than hundreds of millions of potential customers, without barely any foreign brands, even fractions of a percent can be big money.

The GX gets smarter as it ages; it’s even teaching tricks to other Lexus models

Lexus is treating the go-anywhere GX to a comprehensive round of tech updates and a nip-and-tuck for the 2020 model year. The seven-seater is certainly not the most modern model in the company’s lineup, but the changes prove that old-fashioned off-road prowess and cutting-edge technology features aren’t mutually exclusive. Most of the driving aids added to the GX will trickle down to other members of the company’s portfolio.

Oppo RX17 Neo review

The Oppo RX17 Neo is a lower-end Oppo RX17 Pro. Or if you’ve barely heard of Oppo, it’s a OnePlus 7 with cut-down specs and worse taste.

It costs significantly less than some other phones that get you high-end specs at a lower-end price, like the OnePlus 7 and Honor 20 Pro. Though it’s only slightly cheaper than the oddball Pocophone F1.

Suunto 5 review

What Suunto does best is make big, rugged, built-to-last watches, primed for the kind of adventures where your tech is likely to take a beating. The Suunto 3 Fitness aside, they’ve rarely strayed from that path and the new Suunto 5 doesn’t deviate too far either.

This latest GPS-tracking multi-sport fitness watch sticks to the Finnish brand’s familiar style with a design that screams Suunto from 50 tracked paces away.
