NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB GDDR6) vs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5) Comparison

We continue with our GPU comparisons today with a different one. We’re going to look at the lower tier RTX 2060 (6GB GDDR6) compare to the higher tier, but older, GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5).

Specs overview

Comparing these two cards is an interesting story. Though different tiers, the new RTX 2060 is a good competitor to the GTX 1070. It boasts 6GB of the new and fast GDDR6 memory compared to the 8GB GRRD5 of the GTX. And it has a lower power consumption – 90W compared to 120W. But the RTX falls behind in terms of clock speed and core count. The clock speed on the RTX is 960 MHz – 1200 MHz (boost) compared to 1442 MHz – 1645 Mhz (boost). The core count is relatively similar – 1920 and 2048 respectively.
