2017 Suzuki V-Strom 250/ABS Video Preview

2017 is shaping up to be the year of the small-displacement ADV bike. Honda (CRF250L Rally), Kawasaki (Versys-X 300), and here Suzuki’s V-Strom 250/ABS. Let us not forget the first-to-market CSC RX-3 introduced two years ago.

We’ve been giddy about small-displacement-sized adventure bikes since testing the CSC Cyclone a couple years ago. Enter 2016 EICMA and not only does Honda announce the 2017 CRF250L Rally, but so does Suzuki bring forth a mini-ADV bike with its V-Strom 250/ABS.

The diminutive V-Strom is powered by a 248cc parallel-Twin with a claimed 24.7 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 17.3 ft.-lb. of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is said to be optimized for low- to mid-range torque production by way of intake valves that are optimized for airflow, and tuning for maximum acceleration at speeds between 13 mph and 56 mph.

7 Best Phones You’ve Never Heard Of

7 Best Phones You've Never Heard Of

When most people think of smartphones, they think of Apple or Samsung devices, but there are plenty of great alternatives out there that cost less and give you a lot for your money. Many of these phones are unlocked, which means they’ll typically work on GSM networks like AT&T, T-Mobile and MetroPCS, but our list also includes a Verizon exclusive and a phone that works with all major carriers.

OnePlus 3

The price might look like a typo, but it’s not. The OnePlus 3 gives you a rich 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, an impressive 6GB of RAM and an all-metal design, all for just $399 unlocked. The 16-megapixel camera takes pretty sharp pics, but the results in low light could be better. Add in very quick recharging, and you have a steal of a GSM Android phone. (An even speedier version, the rumored OnePlus 3T, should be on the way soon.)

But soft! What shiny LED headlight through yonder video doth break? It is the Beast – the new 2017 KTM Super Duke R – and Juliet Brasfield is at EICMA to tell us all about the new stuff that makes our 2014 Motorcycle of the Year even more fair than he, including more power, updated suspension, and the welcome upgrade of color TFT instrumentation.

2017 Kawasaki Z900, Z650, And Versys-X 300 Video Preview

Our man in Milan, Evans Brassflagons, was running ragged on espresso fumes and adrenaline when he ran into a trio of angle-snouted, aggressively stancing Kawasakis and swung instantly into anchorman mode, which you can see below.

The trellis-framed tootsie Z900 is an inline-Four packing a claimed 123 horsepower. The Z650 is a similarly non-attired sportybike powered by Kawasaki’s excellent 649cc parallel-Twin.

And the new Versys-X 300packs a small version of one of our favorite moto multi-tool adventure bikes with the 296cc Twin from the awesome (and awesome-selling) Ninja300. Makes sense.

Huawei Fit Review : Budget Smartwatch Meets Fitness Tracker

Unlike many fitness watches, the new Huawei Fit doesn’t hide its smarts under an analog watch. It’s unapologetically a gadget, and one that’s a simple, affordable starter for those who want the option to receive a variety of notifications along with the ability to track activities and sleep. And unlike many of the boxy fitness watches we’ve seen, it actually looks good.

Design

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Huawei Fit

The Huawei Fit’s circular design and black-and-white screen make the device refreshingly simple and easy to look at. I found its 1.6-inch circular aluminum case more stylish than many of the square and chunky smartwatch cases out there. (Besides the Moonlight Silver Fit I reviewed, Huawei’s fitness tracker also comes in Titanium Gray). At 1.2 ounces, the Fit is slightly heavier than the comparably priced (1.1-ounce) Pebble 2 + HR, but significantly more attractive.

Currently, the Vespa Elettrica is in project phase, but mother company Piaggio says production and sales of the Vespa Elettrica will begin in the second half of 2017, perhaps as a 2018 model. 2017 Yamaha TMax, TMax DX And TMax SX Preview

Yamaha’s TMAX scooter hit Europe in 2001, and the OG “maxi-scooter” has been hard at work transporting people and their stuff ever since. The beat goes on for 2017, with three models: TMAX, TMAX SX and TMAXDX. The TMAX is described as  a ‘blank canvas,’ for customers who want to add their own parts and accessories.  Sporting special colors and ride modes, TMAX SX is designed for sports-oriented customers. Then there’s the top-line TMAX DX, complete with extensive electronic control technology including D-MODE and Cruise Control – also an adjustable screen and heated grips and seat.

Over the years, the engine has grown from 499cc to today’s 530cc design, while the original chain drive has been replaced by a belt. The steel frame has been replaced by a lighter aluminium design, and an inverted fork took over from the first generation model’s conventional forks.

2017 KTM 390 Duke Preview

390 Duke White

While KTM’s updated 1290 Super Duke R and 790 Duke may be the talk of the Austrian town at EICMA 2016, the newly revised 2017 390 Duke also debuted in Milan and is shaping up to be the undisputed class king in the sub-400cc category.

Right off the bat, the first notable change between new and old is the updated styling, with sharper, more angular lines providing a meaner, aggressive stance.

Like the rest of the Duke line, the 390 also gets the split LED headlight with LED daytime running lights, while at the back the little Duke receives a new, bolt-on subframe colored in contrast to the main steel trellis frame for a striking appearance.motorcycle.com

Martenero Edgemere Watch Review

One thing I keep on saying about microbrands is that it’s enjoyable to see them evolve. The “big brands” have hundreds of years of experimentation and refinement behind them, and at this stage they are pretty easy to identify. It’s the newcomers who are still trying to define and establish themselves that I find quite interesting, which brings me to the Martenero Edgemere. I was fortunate enough to get one of these a few weeks ago, and I have been wearing it ever since for this exclusive wrist-time review. What do I think of it? Well, what else would you be here for, other than to find that out! (Unless you are here because you like to compare the arm hair of various ABTW contributors — which would be weird.)

martenero-edgemere-automatic-rerview-9

Back to matters of the wrist, I found the Martenero Edgemere to be a great example of a brand learning about what makes a great watch. When I first unboxed the watch, I immediately thought that this may very well be the most uniquely “Martenero” design that has been released to date. Some of you may remember my review of the Martenero Marquis, which I found to be a classy yet practical watch. The Martenero Edgemere seems to have learned from past experiences and delivers what I feel is the best piece in their current line up.

2016 ROLLS-ROYCE DAWN REVIEW

Rolls-Royce doesn’t come out with new models very often, so the introduction of the 2016 Dawn convertible was a very special moment indeed. The Dawn is essentially a convertible version of the Ghost sedan and Wraith coupe, and is currently the only droptop in Rolls’ lineup. Blessed with a few days of convertible-friendly weather in the Northeast, I hopped in Dawn to see whether this newcomer is worthy of the Rolls-Royce name, and how it measures up to the competition.

2016-rolls-royce-dawn-side-roof-down-800x533-c

Not a wallflower

The Dawn certainly makes a strong first impression. With its massive, upright grille and hood ornament featuring Rolls’ mascot, a woman with outstretched arms known as the “Spirit of Ecstasy,” it’s instantly recognizable as a Rolls-Royce. It’s also gigantic, stretching 17.34 feet from bumper to bumper, about the same length as a Chevy Tahoe.

Skagen Hagen Connected review : A smart analogue watch that’s beautifully brilliant at the basics

The Skagen Hagen Connected is a beautiful analog smartwatch that has a few tricks up its sleeve. The notifications feel limited, but that’s the nature of this halfway-house category of smartwatch. We’d like to see it do a bit more, to be honest, but as far as basic fitness trackers go, this one comes in a very handsome package.

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Skagen Hagen Connected

The biggest compliment I can give the Skagen Hagen Connected is that I can’t stop looking at it. I’ve been wearing this watch for the past couple of weeks, and still I find myself admiring it from time to time. I can’t say the same for many other smartwatches at the moment, and so Skagen, the Danish company owned by the Fossil Group, has already won half the battle. I’d happily wear this in spite of any smart functionality at all.

But the Hagen Connected is indeed an smart analogue watch – or hybrid smartwatch, if you prefer. Like an increasing number of others it chooses to keep its smarts more clandestine, appealing foremost to watch lovers who want a bit of connected fun on the side.

Finlux 48UXE304B-P review

Remember the puzzle about the farmer who needs to get a fox, a chicken and a bag of grain across the river?

Well, television manufacturers have much the same task with price, features and high-quality image – trying to get all the qualities across the proverbial threshold without one eating into the other.

Finlux has attempted this with a £500/$750 4K TV, the UXE304B-P. The 8.3 million-pixel question, however, is whether it has managed to solve the riddle.

Features

The Finlux UXE304B-P (a particularly catchy model number) has a number of bells and whistles, but by far the one that has the loudest toot is its 4K compatibility.

Astro A50 Review : The Ultimate Gaming Headset Just Got Better

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Astro A50

The new Astro A50 is a perfect example of “If it ain’t broke, just make it a little bit better.” This premium wireless gaming headset retains the superbly comfy design and satisfying surround sound of its predecessor, while introducing the feature-rich Base Station and some neat software tools for casual gamers, streamers and competitors. It even has modular ear cups this time around. Although its microphone and companion app could use some improvement, the Astro A50 is still the best high-end wireless gaming headset you can buy.

Design: Now with more Base

The Astro A50 has a premium look and feel worthy of its $300 price tag. With a curvy headband and ear cups, industrial-looking components, and bright-green (Xbox One) or blue (PS4) highlights, the A50 finds a middle ground between heavy-duty and sleek; between screamingly loud and stylishly subtle. The headset is a bit too ridiculous to be something I would wear in public (not that you can use it that way anyway), but I personally love the look.

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro review

While Beyerdynamic may not be as well known as its German brother, Sennhesier, the audio company has a history of creating some of the best sounding audio gear on the market – the company’s DT770, DT880 and DT990 were renown for their excellent build and sound quality. Trust us, there’s a very good reason why many audio engineers choose Beyerdynamic for monitoring and mastering sound.

The headset we’re looking at today, the DT 1990 Pro, are an open-back version of the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro, which won our Editor’s Choice for its imaging, design and value for the money. Both headphones are priced the same ($599, £589, AU$1,159), so you won’t find a deal picking up one over the other. The difference here comes down to sound

So does the open-back Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro sound as good or better than the already excellent DT 1770 Pro? Let’s find out.

2017 PORSCHE 718 BOXSTER S FIRST DRIVE

Car enthusiasts are a fickle bunch. We demand that our favorite cars keep up with the times, yet get our undergarments in a knot whenever automakers change too much. Preserving the past while embracing the future can be a tricky dance.

Now that drivers are eying gas mileage and emissions more carefully, it’s often engines that change when it’s time for a vehicle update, and not even Porsches are immune. This year, Porsche both the Boxster roadster and Cayman coupe swapped from flat-six engines to a turbo, four-cylinder power plants.

Does the soul survive? I traveled to Austin, Texas for some wheel time to find out.

PARROT DISCO REVIEW

The vast majority of consumer-level drones on the market right now are either quadcopters or hexacopters: multi-rotor UAVs designed for vertical takeoff and landing. Parrot has been making them since its first AR.Drone in 2010, but opted to go in a different direction with the Disco: a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that flies very differently from the others.

parrot-disco-overhead-2-800x533-c

Parrot’s pedigree in this area is not without precedent, as the company has made fixed-wing drones for commercial and agricultural purposes in the past few years. But this one isn’t for farmers or land surveyors – it’s designed specifically for drone enthusiasts, amateur filmmakers, and everyone in between, so we took it to the skies to see how it stacks up against the average quadcopter.

Design

We got hands-on time with the Disco in Palm Springs back in August, flying it in a more controlled environment with Parrot reps close by. We covered the basics of the drone at that time, but here’s a quick refresher. Sporting a wingspan of 45-inches and a depth of 22-inches, the 1.6-pound body is made of expanded Polypropylene (EPP) foam and carbon tubes for reinforcement. There’s a sole propeller in the rear to give it lift, with winglet tips on the wings protruding up for better steering.

Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 preview: Dead software in a shiny phone?

The smartphone market is bizarre and almost completely unrecognisable from the state it was in just 5 years ago. In years gone by, the Windows Phone platform was tightly controlled by Microsoft, and available almost exclusively on just the Nokia Lumia phones. BlackBerry made phones with keyboards on its own operating system.

Now Microsoft’s mobile OS is available on hardware that looks exactly likeBlackBerry’s phones, which now run Android. Case in point: the new Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10.

We know the hardware is decent, but is the operating system even worth our time anymore?

We first got a glimpse at the Alcatel Idol 4S near the beginning of 2016 at MWC in Barcelona. So it’s probably no surprise that this Windows version looks almost exactly the same. The only real difference is the USB Type-C port on the bottom edge. Just like the Android model, it also comes with a budget VR kit in the box.

Uhans H5000 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 – battery test video

Uhans H5000 is one of the latest Uhans devices being released and despite the 5000 in its name it’s not carrying the battery of such capacity. But it’s not that far off the mark because it has 4500 mAh so in theory it should provide quite some solid battery life.

But theory aside how’s the real performance ? Well for that we have an official Uhans video with the favourite discipline of most chinese phone makers, the comparison test. And also as usual it’s a bit of apples and oranges, even though it’s not the iPhone being challenged but Samsung Galaxy S7, which is equipped with only a 3000 mAh battery.

Zeiss FE 50mm f/1.4 Planar vs. Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8 Sonnar Comparisons

Sony continues to crank out new lenses, and the release this summer of the new Zeiss branded FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA Planar T* came as a bit of a shock, considering there is already a Zeiss branded normal prime that is widely considered to be one of the best autofocus normal lenses ever made, but Sony and Zeiss think they’ve made the ultimate normal prime with this new lens.  The existing FE 55mm f/1.8 is a lens I’ve owned for a while now, and it has never let me down.  But can this new 50mm best its slower (but more compact) brother? Let’s find out.

Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8 vs. Zeiss FE 50mm f/1.4

Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8 vs. Zeiss FE 50mm f/1.4

The Lenses

The two lenses share the same Zeiss badge, and have a similar focal length, but physically they are two very different beasts.  While both lenses feature a very robust all metal construction, the 55mm f/1.8 is a compact lens with a slim barrel and light weight.  The 50mm f/1.4, on the other hand, is a beast of a lens: it’s longer, fatter and nearly three times heavier, and gains the aperture ring also present on the FE 35mm f/1.4 and the 85mm GM.

Acer TravelMate X3 X349-M review – the true definition of a travelling companion

Acer is expanding its successful business-oriented TravelMate lineup with a sleek new offering – the TravelMate X349. It’s supposed to come out on the market this fall with an absurdly low starting price of around $649, although the model we’ve acquired sports a Core i7-6500U chip, thus considerably more expensive. Still, the new TravelMate X349 can easily go against other more expensive 14-inchers like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga. But, of course, you won’t get the 360-degree rotatable hinge with Acer’s solution.

Image result for Acer TravelMate X3 X349-M

Anyway, the TravelMate X349 surprises with excellent price/performance ratio, good IPS panel and exceptional build quality complimented with an all-aluminum design. Another interesting thing about this laptop is the wide range of connectivity options including a USB-C 3.1 connector, which allows you to use Acer’s USB-C docking station. It gives you more connection options and a GTX 960M GPU, which will be more than enough for you to enjoy some gaming on the go without sacrificing mobility. We will try to go into detail regarding this feature and see how it will play out.

FIRST DRIVE: 2017 AUDI TT RS

By most accounts, the third-generation Audi TT is a great little car. It looks sharp, it’s a blast to drive, and it’s stuffed to the gills with cool tech like Audi’s vibrant Virtual Cockpit. In the automotive world however, more is often more, and with that in mind I’d like to introduce you to the 2017 TT RS — a car that offers more power, more tech, and most importantly, more fun.

My introduction to the TT RS came across the world at the Jarama Circuit in Madrid, Spain. Though I’d seen photos of the car beforehand, I didn’t feel truly connected to it until I heard the wail of its incredible five-cylinder engine ricocheting off the Spanish tarmac. It sounded guttural, powerful, almost primal. Clearly, the vehicle I was about to drive wasn’t your average TT.

“We see the driver as the pilot, and our emphasis is on the driving experience,” explained Richard Cox, Director of Alfa Romeo North America. “The pilot is the most important focus for Alfa Romeo.” It would be easy to dismiss this as the obligatory marketing hype one would expect when launching a new sports sedan, the likes of which will inevitably be compared to high performance icons like the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 S.

Then you study Alfa’s strategy, and things start to look pretty promising: An all-new platform with an emphasis on low weight, an all-new, Ferrari-derived 505 horsepower bi-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 under the hood, Brembo brakes with optional carbon ceramic discs at all four corners, and near 50/50 weight distribution.

Zvox Accuvoice AV200 TV Speaker review

zvox-av200-accuvoice-tv-speaker-05

If regular soundbars aren’t discreet enough for you, maybe you want a “mini” soundbar. Zvox, JBLand Polk have all released feet long speakers this year, designed to improve your TV’s audio. Think of them as the missing link between Bluetooth speakers and full-strength sound bars.

The Accuvoice tries to separate itself by targeting people with hearing loss. The result is sound that’s less well-rounded than its competitors, especially for music listening. The Accuvoice focuses primarily on the human voice, and does it well.

If you’re frustrated by trying to hear the tinny voices coming out of your television, a speaker like this might be just what you’re looking for. If you crave excitement from your small sound bar, however, better choices are available.
