Toshiba Portege A30t Review

Designed for productivity workers on the go, the Toshiba Portege A30t-C1340 offers a vibrant 13-inch touch screen in a lightweight, 3.1-pound package. The $950 business-focused laptop provides solid performance and some useful preloaded apps, but it lacks the battery life, keyboard comfort and durability of many direct competitors in its price and size range.

Design

Clothed in button-down black business attire, Toshiba Portege’s A30t has a sophisticated all-black look that will fit right in, whether you’re in the boardroom or at the airport departure lounge. Its lid and keyboard area are made of superstrong magnesium, and I prefer the A30t’s textured surface to the more traditional ThinkPad matte finish. However, unlike competitors from Lenovo and Dell, the Toshiba laptop has not been designed to pass any MIL-STD-810G durability tests.

Lenovo Vibe Alpha : Fresh Display tech, Android 6.0, 3400mAh

Those who love one of the most interesting smartphones Lenovo Vibe Shot will find the following model much better. Check out Lenovo Vibe Alpha now!

Lenovo Vibe Alpha to come with 16MP/8MP camera set, 3,400mAh battery and…

Recently, we have been able to spot a new model we consider as a more advanced variant of Lenovo Vibe Shot for 2016. Speaking specifically, DeviantArt user r4yNTv was the one who created and named this Alpha. You may think its design is the same as the Shot, but in fact, Alpha boasts a thinner bezels, an anodized aluminum frame and chamfered edges on both sides; the logo and the camera cluster on the back are also a bit different if you look closely. Anyhow, Lenovo Vibe Alpha still keeps the unique appearance of the original handset. That’s cool, rite?!

The ADATA Premier SP550 SSD Review : A Second Look At Silicon Motion’s SM2256 Controller

Silicon Motion’s SM2246EN SSD controller was a highly successful solution for SSDs using MLC NAND flash. It offered a great combination of power efficiency, solid performance, and low cost.

Last year we got an early look at the successor SM2256 controller for drives using TLC NAND and found that despite being made for TLC it didn’t do a very good job of mitigating the performance and power consumption problems inherent to TLC NAND. At the time there were only a few mainstream TLC drives and the SM2256 was one of the first controllers designed specifically with TLC in mind. That preview was based on a reference design drive using Samsung 19nm TLC and prerelease firmware, so we were hopeful for improvement in final retail products that would be using different NAND and firmware.

Tesla : Everything you need to know about Model 3, Model S, Model X, and more

Tesla has taken more than its fair share of headlines over the past few years. The Californian company has been heralded by the tech and motoring presses for its innovation, stirring up fairly a traditional market and introducing electric cars with a distinct buzz about them.

Some of this has been driven by the excitement of the much talked about “Ludicrous” mode on some Tesla cars, some through the company’s drive to move away from fossil fuels. There’s been a good helping of savvy media handling by CEO Elon Musk, as well as endorsements from many excited customers, as well as the sort of fan enthusiasm usually reserved for brands like Apple.

Vernee Apollo vs Vivo Xplay 5 Elite : 6GB RAM phones battle

Besides the newly-launched Vivo Xplay 5 Elite with 6GB RAM, recently, another 6GB RAM smartphone has been confirmed in terms of specifications, design and price. So today, we would like to put them in a comparison: Vivo Xplay 5 Elite vs Vernee Apollo!

Vernee Apollo vs Vivo Xplay 5 Elite: The best 6GB RAM battle ever!

First of all, let’s have a look at Vivo Xplay 5 Elite specs. This is the first 6GB RAM smartphone in the world and besides the whooping RAM capacity, the Elite also draws people’s attention by its other excellent features. There is a a dual-curved 5.43-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD screen, yet the special edges cannot work like Samsung Galaxy S7 edge’s. Under the hood, a Snapdragon 820 chipset, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, 128GB ROM (non-expandable), and a 3,600mAh battery are on board to help power the whole machine

Vivo X6S and X6S Plus: elegant smartphones with 4GB RAM

After the outstanding flagship duo Vivo Xplay 5 and Xplay 5 Elite, the company continues to impress people with their new products called Vivo X6S and X6S Plus…

Vivo X6S and X6S plus: Best music-focused smartphones of the month!

This duo belongs to another line-up of the manufacturer, not in the same series as the world’s first 6GB RAM smartphone Vivo Xplay 5 Elite. Though, they are still very beautiful and powerful in terms of design and hardware. Obviously, the phones are direct successors to Vivo X6 and X6 Plus, retaining their predecessors’ elegant metal bodies with silver, gold and pink color options. On the other hand, some people think that the new handsets are pretty similar to Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Do you agree?

Odyssey Toys Pocket Drone Review : It’s a Transformer

It might look like a black box the size of an iPhone, but there’s more than meets the eye in the Odyssey Toys Pocket Drone. This neat little quadcopter folds down into a small rectangle that easily slides into a pocket. With the companion controller, which is similarly sized, you can deploy your drone anywhere the urge grabs you, and capture video at the same time.

Design

The Pocket Drone is a Transformer at heart. When you’re traveling, it’s a simple, black box. When you want to fly, you fold the arms out, then twist the motors to lock them into their upright position. Two bright LEDs on the front (white) and back (green) help you orient the craft in flight; the lights mirror the coloring of the rotors.

2016 Chevrolet Malibu vs. 2016 Honda Accord, 2016 Mazda 6, 2016 Toyota Camry – Comparison Tests

Let’s start the proceedings with a couple of toasts. First, here’s to the ancient Chumash Indians, the name of whose little creekside California hamlet of Humaliwo got boiled down by the tongues of the conquering Spanish into the word Malibu. And here’s to the widow Rhoda May Knight Rindge, or May to her friends. The last owner of the 17,000-acre Rancho Malibu, she battled the burgeoning Los Angeles County to stop its plans for a coastal road through her property. But back in 1919, L.A. got what L.A. wanted, and the Pacific Coast Highway was born as the Roosevelt Highway. Luckily, Rindge did not live to see the banks of her beloved Malibu Creek developed with outlets for Starbucks and Yogasmoga. Nor, indeed, did she live to see the mid-size Chevy Chevelle that took the rancho’s name in 1964.

How to Transfer Dish DVR Recordings to a New Hopper

Dish TV’s Hopper 3 can not only can play 4K content, but also has the ability to record and stream up to 16 shows at the same time. However, if you’re upgrading to a new Hopper, you’ll need to transfer your recorded shows to the new DVR. Otherwise, all those episodes of Teen Mom will be lost forever.

Fortunately, transferring files is relatively easy. The only things you’ll need are a portable USB hard drive and time.

The Intel Xeon E5 v4 Review: Testing Broadwell-EP With Demanding Server Workloads

We have been spoiled. Since the introduction of the Xeon “Nehalem” 5500 (Xeon 5500, March 2009), Intel has been increasing the core counts of their Xeon CPUs by nearly 50% almost every 18 months. We went from four to six (Xeon 5600) on June 2010. Sandy Bridge (Xeon E5-2600, March 2012) increased the core count to 8. That is only 33% more cores, but each core was substantially faster than the previous generation. Ivy Bridge EP (Xeon E5-2600 v2, launched September 2013) increased the core count from 8 to 12, the Haswell-EP (Xeon E5-2600 v3, sept 2014) surprised with an 18-core flagship SKU.

Fujifilm X-E2S review

Introduction

The arrival of the X-E2S into Fujifilm’s X-series has been somewhat overshadowed of late by the release of the manufacturer’s X-Pro2. Having extensively tested Fujifilm’s flagship model, it’s time to shift our focus in the direction of the Fujifilm X-E2S – a camera that much like the discontinued X-E2 seems well equipped for enthusiasts who’d like a retro-style rangefinder design. The ‘S’ in its name signals we’re looking at a modest update rather than a radial overhaul of the X-E2. Nevertheless there appears to be sufficient differences to warrant a closer inspection.

LeEco Le 1s Review: Good design, great features, iffy battery

China’s LeEco, erstwhile known as Letv, has set its sights on India. From extensivesocial media campaigns to fan meets, the company seems to be fully prepared for its foray in the Indian market. Speaking of the Indian market, especially the smartphone segment, not only it is highly crowded and competitive, it is almost nearing a saturation point with most of the smartphones at certain price bracket coming with similar set of specifications. For a new entrant such as LeEco, making an impact in the Indian market is going to be a daunting task. With the Le 1s, priced at Rs 10,999, let’s see whether LeEco can take on existing brands.

Microsoft HoloLens preview : An augmented vision that’s still very much in the future

Microsoft HoloLens is the company’s stab at delivering what it believes is the next big thing. Rather than go down the virtual reality route favoured by Oculus, HTC, Samsung, Google and others, Microsoft believes augmenting our reality is the future.

But can a reality that is augmented deliver an experience that is better than a virtual one, and what is it like to use? First experienced by Pocket-lint at its launch in 2015 at Microsoft’s Build developer conference, we’ve come back for a second go with the hardware a year later – at Build 2016 – to see how the hardware and experience has changed.

Apple iPhone 7 : What’s the story so far?

The Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus launched in September 2015 and they have since been followed by the smaller iPhone SE, which replaces the iPhone 5S. Rumours started circulating around the Cupertino company’s next bigger smartphones – likely to be called the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – long before the iPhone SE was announced though.

Every year, normally in September, a new iPhone is released and every year the new device is speculated upon and leaked months and months in advance of its actual release. Some rumours turn out to be accurate, while others leave us disappointed. We might have already had an iPhone announcement this year but that’s not likely to be the last we hear from Apple and its smartphones before the year is out.

Surface Pro 4 vs. iPad Pro : Which Tablet Wins?

Apple’s iPad Pro and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 are two of the most powerful tablets yet, but they’re not designed for the same type of shopper. Aimed at creative types and those who like to play as much as they work, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro (starting at $599) and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (starting at $799) each pack a speedy A9X processor and four speakers, and work with an optional Apple Pencil and keyboard cover.

PowerUp 3.0 Drone Review

When I was a kid, we didn’t have these fancy electronic drones. We had good, ol’ fashioned paper planes. Our fancily folded flying creations sailed across the room, twisting and turning as they went. Now, the world of paper planes and drones are colliding with the $49 PowerUp! 3.0, a remote-control paper airplane.

You clip the PowerUp module onto a paper plane, connect it to your cellphone, and your paper plane becomes a smartphone-controlled drone that can climb, turn and zip around the place with surprising speed and grace. Not only does it stir all sorts of nostalgia in me, it is a lot of fun to fly.

The OCZ Trion 150 SSD Review

Last year’s OCZ Trion 100 was the first drive released by OCZ as a subsidiary of Toshiba, and was really more of a Toshiba product that was released under the OCZ brand. As a prime opportunity to reestablish the OCZ brand post-bankruptcy, the Trion 100 was initially disappointing for its poor performance. It has since become clear that the Trion 100 was merely an early entrant in a race to the bottom that has seen sub-20nm planar TLC used to drive price down as much as possible even at the cost of performance.

Dell XPS 13 Review

The best laptop is now even better. Dell has given the XPS 13 ($799 to start, $1,399 with touch) a brighter screen, longer battery life, a new USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3 and your choice of Intel’s latest 6th-generation Core Series CPUs. Dell also kept all the features we liked on the previous model, including the sexy aluminum and carbon-fiber body, optional quad-HD infinity display, and comfy backlit keyboard. While the location of the webcam still feels out of place, this latest XPS 13 continues to reign supreme.
