Smart fortwo cabrio to roll into dealers in February 2016

Smart has been peddling its tiny little fortwo car for a while now with a bit of success. The car is very small and is designed for city dwellers who need a tiny car that is easy to maneuver and park in tight city areas around the world. Drivers who are looking for a small, quirky ride with good fuel efficiency also choose the little car. The new smart fortwo cabrio is set to land early next year.

The official world premier for the cabrio will happen in September at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Order banks will open for the car in mid-November with the first models hitting dealer showrooms in February 2016. It’s strange to roll out a drop top car when it’s still firmly winter in much of the world.

Sony Wena smartwatch puts traditional face on a smart band

Over in Japan Sony has its own crowdfunding platform called First Flight that launched back in July. It’s rather like the other funding sites we are more familiar with, Indiegogo and Kickstarter. Sony is using First Flight to drum up early orders for a new smartwatch that it plans to make called Wena. That very strange name stands for “wear electronics naturally.”

One Wena watch looks like a normal watch with three small dials inside the larger face and no LCD. The Wena offers three features including a NFC wallet that is compatible with Felica standards in Japan. It gives notifications via vibration and a customizable LED light on the band. The Wena watch also tracks activity via an app only for iOS devices.

ThinkGeek’s Tesla Watch is steampunk-chic

Not interested in a smartwatch, but still desire something cool and unique for your wrist? Well, if you’re into the look of leather, brass, and rivets that defines steampunk, you’re definitely in luck today.

ThinkGeek’s new Tesla Watch not only features a winding key for setting the time, but two vacuum tubes on top with LEDs that can be activated with a switch. While these features may not add much functionality to a watch, the same could be argued about reading emails from your wrist.

Android Wear’s iOS victim isn’t Apple Watch, it’s Pebble

Android Wear has been updated to work with iOS, and while some suggest it’s the Apple Watch that’ll suffer, we’re thinking Pebble. AT&T will be releasing the LG G Pad X 10.1 with 4G LTE data speed to their network on the 4th of September – this Friday. This device works with relatively modest specs, including a 10.1-inch full HD display (that’s 1080p), and 32GB of internal storage. Purchasers of the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain physical edition have found that their disks do not contain the actual game.
