Panasonic Lumix ZS100 Digital Camera Review : In a battle for the high ground, Panasonic is settling for the middle.

Ever since Sony came out with the stunning original Cyber-shot RX100, manufacturers have been scrambling to put out their own compact cameras with 1-inch sensors. Some have stuck with Sony’s original blueprint, while others have put out bulky step-up options with significantly more zoom.

The new Panasonic Lumix ZS100 (MSRP $699.99) sits firmly in the middle, landing between thePanasonic LX100 and Panasonic FZ1000 in the company’s lineup. It offers a 1-inch sensor and a 10x optical zoom all in a pocketable camera, with perhaps the best combination of image quality and size we’ve seen yet.

Audioquest JitterBug review

Upgrading your hi-fi system needn’t always involve a hefty blow to your wallet. There’s always an affordable little tweak here and there, which can make a world of difference.

With a traditional hi-fi set-up, it could be something as simple as upgrading your speaker cable or interconnects. With a desktop audio system, it could be introducing a little critter like the Audioquest JitterBug.

Apple iPad Pro (9.7in) hands on review

The iPad Pro released last autumn was a powerful, impressive machine that did a bunch of things no Apple tablet previously had done.

But, let’s be honest, it was pretty big (with a 12.9-inch display) and heavy. Although lighter than the original iPad, it was hefty enough to reduce portability considerably. Oh, and it really wasn’t cheap.

So wouldn’t it be better to have an iPad that did everything the Pro did but was as light and small as an iPad Air?

Apple iPhone SE hands on review

Introducing the all-new iPhone SE. Or is it?

You have to hand it to Apple – who else would have the brass neck to release a phone that’s almost identical in design to the iPhone 5 released in 2012 and not much different from the iPhone 4 from 2010?

Regardless, Apple claims the iPhone SE is “the most powerful 4in-screen phone ever made”, promising specs to rival the high-end phones but with a smaller screen and a lower price.

LG Gram 15 Review

The LG Gram 15 gives laptop shoppers a big 15-inch screen at a weight they’ll have to hold to believe. This slim wonder weighs just 2.16 pounds, making it the lightest notebook with this size display we’ve ever tested. While the original 14-inch Gram looked like an Apple MacBook copycat, the Gram notebook has an almost-bezel-less display that makes it more compelling. Plus, unlike a lot of superthin notebooks, the Gram 15 has a full set of ports. The only things holding this machine back from greatness are its modest build quality and mediocre battery life.

Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 review: Not a sell-out show

What are budget tablets about these days? Should they be the sort of devices you can slip into a small bag and carry around with you 24/7; light enough so you can hold them in one hand; cheap enough so you won’t fall into a month-long depression when you crack the screen? These are what most budgettablets aim to achieve. But the Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 doesn’t.

Nope, the Venue 10 Pro is big and chunky. And starting at £349/$524 it’s not the sort of device you’ll buy on a whim. It’s meant more as laptop-replacement than something you’ll use to read-up on soap gossip or iPhone 7 rumours while on the sofa – hence the “Pro” namesake.

The Airborne Night ($129) and Airborne Cargo ($99) drones from Parrot are the latest in the company’s Minidrone line, which includes drones that travel through the air, on the ground and in water. They are simple but well constructed drones that kids will love and can be flown indoors or outdoors (with no wind). And, with included bumpers that protect the rotors, they won’t trash the house when they crash into things.

Oculus Rift vs. PlayStation VR : What is the best VR gaming headset?

While it would be nice to paint the rivalry between the Oculus Rift and Sony’s PlayStation VR (previously codenamed Project Morpheus) as a David and Goliath-style battle, the lines are actually a bit more blurred.

Oculus could have been the plucky underdog, but its $2 billion acquisition by Facebook back in 2014 turned it into a Silicon Valley giant. Sony, on the other hand, has been hit hard by losses in the last few years, and the former king of tech’s crown is slipping.

Rowhammer vulnerability still threatens RAM, even DDR4

When we speak of security exploits, we usually refer to software that take advantage of vulnerabilities in other software. Rowhammer, however, is a rare breed. Discovered almost exactly a year ago, it involved software exploiting vulnerability in hardware, in this case, dual in-line memory modules or DIMMs, in order to affect a change in software. The exploit had chip makers scrambling to get the latest DDR4 chips out the door. But apparently, the security comforts they offered were based on a presumption that researchers are now proving to be false.

Google rolls out first Android N dev preview OTA update

Earlier this month Google officially launched the dev preview of the next flavor of Android called Android N. With the launch of Android N Google did something a bit different by offering up a very early version of the OS that was festooned with bugs and issues. In fact, Android N was so buggy and early that we recommended you not download it unless you actually made a living as a developer.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 gives midsize SUV a V6 biturbo boost

Mercedes-AMG, the Germany automaker’s purveyor of roasting hot, amped-up Autobahn destroyers, has been on a roll of late, and like the cars that sport its badge it’s showing no signs of slowing. Latest is the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, the first midsize SUV to get the AMG tuning treatment, and promising blistering performance while still delivering legitimate off-road abilities.

So, the regular Mercedes-Benz GLC goes back into the garage and emerges with a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine, good for 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque at 2,500 – 4,500 rpm. That pushes the truck from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds, and all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

Samsung, de GRISOGONO to make a luxurious Gear S2 smartwatch

If you thought that Samsung is over its jewelry obsession, better think again. It may have curiously skipped Swarovski this time around, but this diamond-laden smartwatch isn’t going to be less luxurious. Or expensive for that matter.

This time, Samsung has partnered with famed jewelry and watchmaker de GRISOGONO to co-create, not merely co-brand, Samsung insists, a special, limited-edition Samsung Gear S2. Naturally, this is more a fashion statement than a simple smartwatch, blending the latest in wearable technology with some of the most luxurious materials and stones in the fashion world.

Intel’s new Skull Canyon NUC is targeting gamers

While it practically dominates the PC CPU market, Intel’s graphics chips are considered passable at best, at least for an integrated graphics chip. NUC, or Next Unit of Computing, kits are mostly seen as reference devices and mini PCs than serious computing hardware. At GDC 2016, Intel is attempting to change that perception. Its most poweful NUC yet, Intel has unveiled the Skull Canyon NUC, model number NUC6i7KYK, as a competitive portable machine for both gaming and multimedia work, whether by itself or with a friend, like a Razer Core graphics enclosure.=

Android phone hero war : Flagship VS Flagship

Scion FR-S reborn as the 2017 Toyota 86 with more power

Arguably the most appealing car in ill-fated Scion’s line-up has been rebranded by Toyota, and it’s with a name that many agree the compact sportscar should’ve had in the first place. The Scion FR-S, the two-seater Toyota developed with Subaru, will be sold as the 2017 Toyota 86 when it joins the line-up this year, echoing the name under which the car is sold elsewhere in the world.

It’s not the only change, mind, and the others might be of even more interest to would-be coupe buyers. Toyota is also giving the 86 a mild performance bump, as well as tightening up its suspension.
