LG V10 Review Part II: what no other phone has

Certainly there have been devices that’ve had second displays in the past – everything from the Kyocera Echo to the lesser-known Samsung Doubletime. What’s been missing from this equation hasn’t been the hardware, but the skillfully implemented purpose achieved. In the LG V10, you’ve got a second display that shows you the time. It’ll show you some other things, too, but the second screen shows you the time – and, most important of all – it shows you this information without giving your battery a hit.

Mad Catz R.A.T. Pro X Review — Winning the Rat Race

Mad Catz has come a long way since its days of producing second-rate console controllers. The company has rebranded itself as something of a luxury provider, offering premium mobile accessories, a full-on Android console, and now, a flagship gaming mouse. The R.A.T. Pro X’s $200 price tag isn’t for the faint of heart, but if any mouse is really worth that cost, Mad Catz’ new peripheral makes a convincing argument for itself.

Monitor Audio Gold 50 review

In this decade-long lineage, Monitor Audio’s Gold series has hatched three generations: the Gold GR, Gold GS and Gold GX ranges. The latest addition strips the traditional abbreviations for the simpler sobriquet ‘Gold’, and brings eight new models to the table.

The Gold 50s (successor to the four-star Gold GX50s) are the smaller, least expensive standmounters. They come with a sprinkle of upgrades to the bass cone, tweeter and grille design that apply across the range.

Samsung Galaxy A8 review

1. Introduction

You don’t need to be the best if you can be the crowd favorite. The Samsung Galaxy A8 is Samsung’s thinnest smartphone yet and is certainly learning from the Note5 in some respects, but while it can’t beat it on features it’s likely to rival it on popularity.

Velocity Micro Raptor Z55 Review: Fast and Classy

Don’t let the Velocity Micro Raptor Z55’s unassuming design fool you; this gaming PC is an absolute beast. Packing a 6th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor and plenty of powerful graphics and storage options, the Raptor ($2,699 as reviewed, $1,499 starting) can be configured to chew through any high-end game or CPU-intensive task you throw at it. If you can live with its fairly big frame, the Raptor Z55’s impressive overall performance and easy upgradability make it one of the most impressive gaming desktops available.

iPad Pro review: Big and powerful, but it won’t replace your laptop

Here we are. Apple, the same company that once swore off styluses, and dismissed hybrid PCs as experiments gone wrong, is now selling a laptop/tablet mashup of its own. One that accepts pen input, at that. The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro went on sale last week, and though it is, in a sense, just an oversized iPad, it’s also the closest thing we’ve seen yet to a hybrid device from Apple. With the screen real estate of a laptop, and the speed of a laptop, and various keyboard accessories allowing you to type on it like a laptop, the Pro seems like it might indeed be able to replace your notebook. In fact, Tim Cook himself has suggested as much in interviews. But with a starting price of $799, it isn’t for everybody. And even then, it won’t replace your laptop so much as complement it.

Samsung Galaxy Note EDGE Review: The Phone That Started It ALL

Pros

AWESOME display; Great Design; High-end specs; Great battery life; S-Pen is just fantastic in its fourth iteration; Plenty of storage; Unique curved OLED panel

Cons

Not ideal for southpaws; Curved OLED aspect is limited to Samsung apps; Handset’s a bit on the pricy side

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was awesome and the Galaxy Note EDGE is essentially the same deal, just with a funky new display. We LOVE this phone, although given its price a lot of people might be better off with its less-eccentric launch partner…

14 Sweet Versions of Regular Cars

1. VOLKSWAGEN GOLF R

The Volkswagen Golf R is the high powered version of the standard Golf. The turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16 valve 4-cylinder engine puts out 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. With a zero to sixty time of 4.5 seconds and a zero to 155 mph time of 29.5 seconds, the Golf R is a quick little beast. The transmission is a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic that can be manually shifted. To get the full experience of the power the Volkswagen Golf R is capable of, it’s best to manually shift the transmission, as the automatic gearbox seems to lag when trying to select the correct gear for the situation. The Golf R has an upgraded suspension as well, giving it better stability and responsiveness when driving it like a race car.

The LG G5 COMETH: INSANE Specs, New Chassis AND An Eye-Scanner!?

We’ve collected all the latest rumors and details on LG’s upcoming flagship handset, the LG G5

So we’ve had Apple’s iPhone launch in September, which means there’s not much else going on in the smartphone launch calendar between now and Christmas. Settle in folks, get comfy, eat nice food – you know the drill. But we can look ahead a little bit at what 2016 will have in store. The year will kick off with IFA 2016 in January, but that’s become less and less significant an expo for mobile tech specifically; these days every major firm rocks up at MWC to showcase the latest and greatest. MWC in 2016 will be happening a bit earlier than usual, February 22, to be precise, and it’s already whispered that Samsung will launch a new Galaxy S7 flagship in the days just ahead. LG, on the other hand, has been in the habit of having its own launch events later in the year, but a bunch of recent rumours say it may be pulling a Samsung and revealing all on or around MWC 2016 too.

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Digital Camera Review

It’s an exciting time to shop for a new interchangeable lens camera. We’d have to go back to the days of film to find a wider array of amazing photographic options. And perhaps no ecosystem is busting at the seams more than Micro Four Thirds, thanks to being supported by both Panasonic and Olympus.

While Panasonic’s camera offerings tend to be better for video, Olympus has earned its spot in the hearts of camera lovers with a special focus on still photography. Its OM-D lineup blends high technology with excellently built and retro-inspired compact cameras. 2013’s E-M10 brought the OM-D down in price with some very minor changes. It was only a matter of time that the least expensive option got updated, and that time has finally arrived.

Blocks reveals updated design and glimpse at bespoke OS

Blocks, the modular smartwatch, is nearing the final stages of its Kickstarter run and getting ready to start making deliveries in May.

This should be the beginning of a new platform that does to hardware development what apps did to software.

We caught up with the developers at their Innovation Lab space at Imperial College London to see the latest developments.

Not only are the final designs taking shape but the operating system was ready to be shown off, albeit in a very early form.

So what can we expect from the Blocks modular smartwatch?

Kangaroo Mobile Desktop Review

These days, you can find several compact Windows computers for less than $150, but even in the world of low-cost mini PCs, the Kangaroo Mobile Desktop stands out. For just $99, this deck-of-cards–sized system offers a host of helpful features you won’t find in pricier PCs, including a built-in battery, a fingerprint reader, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a removable ports dock and the ability to use an iPad for a screen.

2017 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate review

What’s in a name?

According to GMC, the range-topping Denali line wasn’t exclusive or haughty enough, so the automaker debuted something more… ultimate. Yep, the GMC Sierra 1500 can now be had in something called the Denali Ultimate.

You might be asking yourself what else does GMC have in its parts bin that could possibly make the Sierra Denalimore upscale. Ponder away, but nothing else exists in the lineup. So what’s the deal?

Misfit Shine 2 review

The Misfit Shine 2 is a decent step up from its predecessor with added smart notifications and vibration alerts, yet the fact that the company still hasn’t made the tracker secure in its band is a real disappointment. In short, the Misfit Shine 2 is still a great looking and accurate step and sleep tracker with more features at a decent price, but its propensity for detaching stops it from being an all-out success.

ASUS Chromebit review: Turn any display into a Chrome OS machine

If you’ve got some spare time, search for the words “Android dongle” on eBay — your screen will be filled with little, Android-powered HDMI doodads that purport to make your dumb TV smart. But what about Chrome OS, Google’s other operating system? For years, it lived most prominently on notebooks, but the new $85 Chromebit from ASUS is Google’s attempt to give Chrome OS even more of a life beyond the laptop. Got a spare monitor with an HDMI-in port? Or an HDTV that could stand to be smarter? Just pop in the Chromebit and voilà: Your dumb display is now a Chrome OS computer. It’s not that powerful, and it’s far from perfect, but the Chromebit is just cheap and just good enough to find a home in classrooms and tinkerers’ dens.

Dynaudio Excite X14a review

Remember the Dynaudio X14 speakers? Let us jog your memory: small, smartly dressed bookshelf speakers with a rock-solid, snappy and agile sound.

They debuted as part of the Danish company’s revamped five-strong Excite speaker range in 2013, and we liked them.

The X14a speakers are active versions of those four-star bookshelvers – hence the ‘a’ in the model name – and if the X14’s sonic talents and Dynaudio’s past success with amplified speakers (just look at its powered wireless Xeo 4s) are anything to go by, these should be good.

2015 Hyundai i30 Elite CRDI review — road test

Hyundai’s i30 has been shaking things up in the sales race for a few years, now more than ever. In June 2015 it beat the mighty Corolla onto the top step – and that’s guaranteed champagne territory for the ever-ambitious South Korean car maker.

On cue, there’s been a mid-life refresh for the hatch and wagon, bringing a new transmission to a package that has had a lot of work done under the skin to help maintain the momentum.

Movado Bold Motion watch joins the smart analogue race for your wrist

HP has announced a partnership with watchmaker Movado to create their first smartwatch called Bold Motion.

Inside the watch HP has packed in its own hardware and software to make it smart. The watch is waterproof to 50 metres which the black silicone strap will also handle fine.

LG V10 vs LG G4: What’s the difference?

LG has announced the LG V10, a new handset that’s the first in a new V line of handsets, a new family.

We’d all got accustomed to the G series being the flagship, but it looks like LG is stepping up a notch, moving away from the trend to push the mid-range, and focusing on adding innovation at the top.

The result is the V10. Born from the same mother as the G4, these twins are closely related. But is this a case of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito?

Fujifilm X-A2 Review

SUMMARY

The Fuji X-A2 feels designed for both new, step-up photographers as well as more experienced ones who expect additional physical controls. And though it lacks the fancy X-Trans sensor of higher-end Fuji cameras, the image quality is rather impressive at both low and higher ISOs. All in all, despite some notable drawbacks and performance issues, the Fujifilm X-A2 balances very good still image quality and decent performance with a great price point, and when all is said and done, makes it a great entry into the Fuji X-system and their excellent family of lenses.

Maingear Rush: Now, This Is How You Splurge On A Gaming PC

If you’re going to splurge on a gaming PC, then it might as well be one that looks as good as it plays. That’s exactly what you’re going to get with the Maingear Rush, a beast of a gaming PC housed inside atransparent case for showing off your hardware like a museum display.

It starts out with an Inwin 909 chassis, with a 5mm-thick tempered glass panel on the left side, allowing the PC to display its guts in the open without leaving it vulnerable to all the dust in your bedroom (yeah, you’re not very clean) and all the smoke from your vape (yeah, you’re one of those).

2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible: Yes, They Really Made A Droptop Luxury SUV

What the heck is that? Seriously, we can’t imagine anyone not uttering those words upon setting eyes on the 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible. Not that it’s ugly. Just that it’s weird. As in, weird enough we wouldn’t be surprised if it was dreamed up by two executives chambonging a bottle of champagne while watching Cartoon Network past midnight. Or something like that.

Love it or hate it, though, we can’t deny the truth: the car looks fun. I mean, it’s a 4WD compact SUV packing off-road talents without a roof. With a Range Rover badge. How can you not be imagining yourself riding this everywhere next summer?

Edifier R1700BT review

The Edifier R1700BT speakers are an immensely appealing proposition.

They’re smart-looking, compact speakers, have Bluetooth 4.0 streaming and are a hoot to listen to. And they only cost £120/$180.

Build and design

We’re rather fond of the Edifiers’ design. You only get one finish option with the speakers, but we don’t mind as the contrasting walnut vinyl and black body looks quite smart.

iPad Pro vs Pixel C: 2015’s Wannabe Surface-Killers RISE

The biggest tablets Google and Apple have ever created face off!

It’s funny, for the last year everyone has been declaring that tablet, if not dead, is at least a sinking ship. And that’s mostly been fair. iPad sales are declining about 20% year over year–and that’s the most popular tablet in the world. Android and Windows tablets aren’t faring any better. But there may be a critical shift in the tablet market in 2016 if Apple and Google’s plans are any bellwether. That’s because both companies have announced “pro” tablets–tablets that aim to be both tablet and laptop. For Apple, it’ the just-released iPad Pro. For Google, its the upcoming Pixel C.
