2019 Lexus LX 570 S Review : Road Test

This V8-powered prestige SUV will make your eyes bleed, but it delivers in the luxury stakes

There’s a market for planet-sized, high-end luxury SUVs from Japan that will scare children with their terrifying bulk and polarising aesthetic. It’s the kind of large luxury conveyance for the customer not interested in conservatively-stlyed German luxury. Like the Infiniti QX80, this Japanese juggernaut is an acquired taste but there are elements of this $170,000 V8-powered brute that will make you smile long after you’ve locked the doors.

Does anyone even buy these things?

Far from being an unloved super-sized SUV with a face only a narcissistic car designer could love, the $168,089 Lexus LX 570 S is the second-most popular vehicle in its segment (large SUV over $100,000) after the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, finding just over 400 buyers in Australia in 2018 – an increase of almost 25 per cent.
