Let’s continue with our group of articles where we put side by side top-notch processors. This time on the boxing ring we see the Intel Core i7-8650U vs AMD Ryzen 7 2700U.

Specs overview

Starting off with the Intel representative, Core i7-8650U is part of the 8th generation Kaby Lake Refresh. Contrary to its direct predecessor – the Intel Core i7-6500U, it is now equipped with a total of 4 cores and 8 threads but retains the so-called Hyper-Threading technology, while also manufactured through the same 14nm production process with the same TDP of 15W. The processor ticks at 1.9 GHz while Turbo Boost frequencies are fairly high – 4.2 GHz. In addition, it supports dual-channel DDR4 memory modules with speeds up to 2400 MHz and incorporates the Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics chip.
