Volvo pinning EV hopes on sleeker SUVs

Swedish car-maker says next-gen battery powered vehicles will still be SUV, but will be more aerodynamic than today’s line-up

Volvo’s next-generation range of cars and SUVs are set to be unrecognisable from today’s line-up in the brand’s bid to go electric with sleeker, more streamlined cars.

The move to a slippery design language has been deemed essential by engineers as the more aerodynamic vehicle is, the further its pure-electric range.

This approach is proving a huge problem with Volvo’s unashamed drive to produce more and more high-riding vehicles to satisfy demand for SUVs, that abysmal aerodynamic performance.
