The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS Automatic Is Quick but Looks Funky

While impressive, the new 10-speed automatic gearbox doesn’t make it much quicker or alleviate the Camaro’s aesthetic and packaging struggles.

The genesis for what has evolved into the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro arrived in 1967 as a result of two decades’ worth of brisk postwar automotive development. Like Ford’s Mustang was related to the Blue Oval’s earlier “compact” Falcon, the Camaro’s F-body platform was originally a fork of the Chevy II’s tree. As Dearborn had done with the Mustang in ’64, General Motors wrapped pedestrian underpinnings in a sexier package.
