Ford has announced that a new version of the Edge SUV will be rolling into dealerships and this flavor is the first ST SUV Ford has offered. The Edge ST promises improved handling and braking with an ST-tuned suspension.
The Edge ST will have a Sport mode and a fast shifting 8-speed transmission. All-wheel drive will be standard, and the Edge ST gets the most powerful V6 engine in the class. That engine is a specially tuned 2.7L EcoBoost twin turbo that makes 335hp and 380 lb-ft of torque.
The Edge ST will roll on special 21-inch wheels and it will have special interior design cues including sportier seats and ST badging. Edge ST will haul five people and comes with more driver assist features than other mid-size SUVs. The features include Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic Brake Support; Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection; BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert; Lane-Keeping Alert; Lane-Keeping Assist; Auto High Beams; and Hill-Start Assist.
Ford will also fit the car standard with AvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, Curve Control, and 911 Assist. Paddle shifters will allow manual shifting of the 8-speed auto.
The Edge ST is part of the new Ford Edge SUV line. Standard 2019 Edge SUVs will get a 2.0L EcoBoost engine with 5hp more power and better fuel economy than the outgoing model.
All versions ditch the normal shift handle and get a rotary gearshift dial to free up space.
The Edge also gets Auto Start-Stop tech to improve economy. Full LED headlights and fog lamps are available.
