The 2021 Toyota Sienna debuts at a time when only the best minivans survive. There used to be a ton of minivans: Buick, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Saturn and Volkswagen all had a minivan for sale at one point. Back when minivan sales topped 1 million vehicles a year, it kind of made sense. Today, there are just a handful of minivans that seriously merit consideration by families. These include the Chrysler Pacifica, the Kia Sedona, the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna. Yes, technically, there are other passenger vans, such as the Ford Transit, but the Sienna is one of those vans that’s focused on family-hauling first and foremost. For a few years now, only the Pacifica and Odyssey have been new. Until the 2021 model, the Toyota Sienna had kind of fallen behind.
