What is the Samsung Q85R?
The Samsung Q85R is the second level of the high-end QLED range for 2019 and sits just below the Q90R 4K flagship. It is an LED LCD TV with a Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) backlight that Samsung calls Direct Full Array Plus which has around 100 separate dimming zones and an advanced dimming algorithm. Also new for 2019 is the viewing angle filter which means you can view the Samsung Q85R from off-axis and not encounter the same kind of contrast and colour drop off traditionally seen with VA panel LCD TVs.
