The 2019 Acura ILX A-Spec Is More Compelling but Not Sportier

More features, lower price, but still lacking a definitive personality.

The latest and final model in the Acura lineup to adopt the brand’s current design language, the 2019 ILX sedan finally buries Acura’s chromed-beak aesthetic and receives a smattering of tech, interior, and cosmetic updates. The ILX continues to carry the brand’s torch in the entry-luxury segment, and Acura hopes that these revisions will put the Honda Civic–based sedan on the radar of younger buyers (millennials, to quote Acura) looking for an affordable, performance-oriented premium vehicle. The endgame, of course, is to keep them coming back to the brand as their tastes mature and incomes rise.
