Purism released the final specification of Librem 5 on its website and said it would go on sale in the third quarter of 2019. Librem 5 is a free and open source Linux smartphone centered on user privacy and encryption. It runs the Debian-based GNU/Linux operating system, and the desktop environment uses KDE Plasma Mobile or GNOME Shell, and it only runs open source applications.
