50 years ago today, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin climbed down the steps of the Eagle lunar landing vehicle and became the first human beings to walk on the surface of the moon. It was a magnificent feat decades in the making and one that has continued to spur innovation and advancements ever since.
