Samsung has just recently released the Galaxy Note 8 we will now be comparing this flagship phablet with its controversial predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
The Samsung Galaxy Note7 is a commendable phablet with its 5.7“ Super AMOLED Quad HD curved with 2560 x 1440 resolution, Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset, 64GB internal storage, 4GB RAM, 12MP dual pixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, 5MP front camera, and a 3500mAh battery to power up the phablet. However, it was retired early due to serious battery issues.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8, on the other hand, is not just the successor but in a way a second chance for the South Korean giant. It has a 6.3“ (18.5:9) Super AMOLED Infinity Display with 2960 x 1440 resolution, Samsung Exynos 8895 chipset, 64 internal storage, 6GB RAM, 12MP main + 12MP telephoto rear camera (both with OIS) with dual-LED flash, 8MP front camera, and a 3300mAh battery to power up the phablet.

As we can see from the specs, it is evident that the Samsung Galaxy Note8 comes with massive improvements over the Galaxy Note7 – hardware- and software-wise. Samsung’s Bixby AI also has been implemented in the Galaxy Note8 which further expands the functionality of the phablet.
When it comes to benchmarks, the Galaxy Note8 scored higher in AnTuTu at 174,579 while the Note7 is at 134,190. For 3DMark, the Galaxy Note8 got 2,587 while the Galaxy Note7 got 2,135.
As for the battery, the Note8 may have a smaller capacity but it could be attributed to the new safety standards Samsung has implemented on the device. Besides, the Exynos 8895’s 10nm FinFET process promises better battery management, so we have to take that into account.
The Samsung Galaxy Note7 was priced at Php39,990 at launch while the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is at Php49,990. Preorders will be available from September 8 until September 17 at Samsung concept stores, select authorized dealers, and online stores: Lazada, Abenson, and Argomall. Samsung PH will throw in a free AKG speaker worth Php7,990 during the preorder period. Units will be available in the Philippines by September 29.
