Samsung has been notoriously known for its affinity with plastic and more plastics over the years. It started off with the entry-level Y an Ace series and from there on it slowly reached up to the flagship Galaxy level. The company may be advocating for innovative but let’s be straight, we expect more from a brand like Samsung. After a brief hiatus, the renowned plastic is back with the emergence of Tizen operating system and first-ever device called Samsung Z1 (it’s nowhere close to Sony’s Z1).
At a time when major phone brands are focused on delivering top-quality products at affordable price point, Samsung has played havoc with the market perception by pricing its entry-level Z1 close to the likes of Asus Zenfone, Android One devices and Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S among others. The biggest takeaway about Z1 is the platform it’s based on and marks the Korean brand’s re-entry into the mobile OS market, after the Bada debacle.
