The appeal of unlocked smartphones is that they provide features comparable to those on pricey flagships like the Galaxy S7 for hundreds of dollars less. Both the Pixel and Pixel XL from Google are terrific unlocked phones, if you’ve got money to spend on the ultimate Android experience. And one of our favorite unlocked phones from 2016 — Huawei’s Honor 8 — is now getting the latest version of Android.
