There are some steps you should take before you install Apple’s iOS 12.0.1 update on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
The iOS 12.0.1 update is a small maintenance release, but it comes with important bug fixes for iOS 12 problems including one for an annoying iPhone XS charging issue.
If you’re currently running iOS 12.0, you get the shortest list of changes and the smallest download. If you’re running an older version of iOS, your iOS 12.0.1 update and download will be much bigger thanks to the updates you skipped. They’re baked into your version of the update.
