If Yakuza is a goofy soap opera, Lost Judgment is a hard-boiled procedural drama. Both genres share similarities, especially when it comes to their use of melodrama, but the difference is in how seriously they take themselves. Soap operas tend to be cheeky, really reveling in their overblown emotions and taking it to the brink of comedy.
