Walmart Gateway GWTN141 laptop review: Potential $500 sweet spot

Budget laptops are getting better. On paper, everything about the Gateway is lucrative from its affordable price point, Tiger Lake Core i5 CPU, 16 GB RAM, 1080p IPS display, and 512 GB SSD. Dig a little deeper, however, and some of the drawbacks cut a bit too deep.

While ultra-budget laptops are plentiful, their performance levels and build quality can be questionable. Models from lesser-known manufacturers like Chuwi tend to have hardware issues that you might not otherwise find on similarly-priced laptops from Lenovo, Dell, or HP.
