AMD Ryzen 5 4500U crushes last year’s flagship AMD Ryzen 7 3700U with up to 180% better performance – Comparison

AMD has been the underdog in the CPU market for quite some years now. But with the release of their Ryzen series they’ve taken the market in their hands and proven that they are worthy competition of Intel. Today, we’ll compare two AMD processors designed for laptops. We have the new mid-range Ryzen 5 4500U and last year’s flagship Ryzen 7 3700U.

In the next sections, we are going to see how these chips compare to one another so that you can make the right choice for your system.

Specs

Firstly, for the younger Ryzen 5 4500U. The CPU was released in the middle of 2020. It has two more cores than its older sibling so the core count rises to 6. However, it also has 6 threads – 2 less than the 3700U. The base clock speed and the max clock speed are at the same spot at 2.3GHz and 4.0GHz respectively.
