Volkswagen to launch new brand for its cheap EVs

German car-maker thinks new family of small budget electric cars should be sold under new banner

Volkswagen Group is plotting to launch yet another car brand as part of its plans to introduce a new family of budget pure-electric cars.

Back in March 2019 Volkswagen Group’s chairman, Herbert Diess, announced that the VW-owned SEAT would be the brand under which a range of affordable battery-powered vehicles would be launched, but those plans have now been scuttled.
