The Atlas is a solid three-row offering that faces stiff competition from Kia’s handsome new Telluride.

The ranks of the three-row mid-size SUV segment continue to swell at a rapid pace, with the 2020 Kia Telluride being one of the latest entrants to join the fray. With so many players vying for attention, the true personalities and core competencies of these haulers of people and stuff often get lost in the shuffle. To draw a bead on the capabilities, value, and true identity of the new Kia, we pitted it against the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas, which we recently found to be a more compelling setup than the Subaru Ascent in a one-on-one evaluation.
