The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon Is Priced Like a True Entry-Luxury Car

It starts more than $10,000 higher than the Passat, but it also looks far more appealing.

After a long wait, the Volkswagen Arteon is just about ready to reach U.S. customers’ hands—which means we now know how much it costs. Its $36,840 starting price may seem high considering it’s more than $10,000 higher than the Passat mid-size sedan’s, but to us, the Arteon’s pricing seems commensurate with its more upscale styling and feature content and its more powerful engine. The VW also lines up nicely with other premium-ish hatchback competitors such as the Kia Stinger (starting at $33,495) and Buick Regal Sportback (which starts at $25,995 but rises to the mid-$30,000s when similarly equipped).
