Codenamed ‘Aero B’, the new all-electric, coupe-inspired Volkswagen sedan was widely tipped to adopt the ID.6 moniker, sitting above the new ID.4 and ID.5 SUVs – until the reveal of an identically-named, seven-seat ID.6 SUV for China in April stymied those rumours, pushing speculation for the mid-size car towards higher ‘7’ or ‘8’ badges instead.
