2020 Acura RDX vs. 2020 Acura MDX: What’s the Difference?

The 2020 Acura RDX and MDX are two compelling luxury SUVs. The RDX was all new for the 2019 model year and represents the latest in Acura’s design language and technological innovations. A compact SUV, the RDX competes with vehicles like the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, the Mazda CX-5 and the Acura NX and RX. The MDX hasn’t been fully redesigned since the 2014 model year, so it’s starting to feel a little dated, especially on its interior, and we’re looking forward to an all-new MDX debuting soon, hopefully for the 2021 model year. Still, the current-gen MDX is a known quantity in the 3-row luxury SUV segment and offers familiarity and reliability, making it a safe choice in the eyes of a lot of buyers. While it shares its platform with the Honda Pilot, the MDX isn’t as minivanlike as the Pilot and offers room for up to seven passengers — one fewer than the Honda.
