If you want to record your journeys, and want a camera in your car at all times to record journeys in case you have an accident, then you should look at a dedicated dashcam. This will help if you need to prove you weren’t at fault, and could reduce your insurance costs by 10% to 20%, depending on your insurance company. Dashcams are also much cheaper than many of the name brand action cameras. If you’re doing something fun or going on an exciting road-trip then you could look at an action camera, particularly if you want to use it outside of the car. Most in-car cameras are designed to be connected to the cigarette lighter socket for power.
