Camfere.com, the site that specializes in photography has a very special proposal for us this time. SJCAM M20 is the lightest camera of SJCAM. It’s not a true 4K action cam, but for a price about 90$ with our coupon, will work as a dash camera, a drone camera and for whatever else you may want!
Design
The M20 is SJCAM’s lightest camera yet as we mentioned from the beginning. Even the previous model, M10, it was larger and about 10 grams heavier.
At only 54 grams and with dimensions of 5.4 x 4 x 3 cm, the M20 is ideal for mounting on your drone. Of course you can use it and elsewhere without any problem. The M20 comes in seven colors: black, white, silver, gold, yellow, red and blue, all of which are in the same price of course.
The M20 features at the back a 1.5″ LCD screen display for showing various info about the shot and to see where you are shooting at. At the side there is a USB 2.0 slot, a HDMI and a card reader which support Micro SD up to 32GB. The camera also comes with a waterproof case for underwater shooting, till the debt of 30m and you can enable the underwater mode which attempts to correct colors.
Features
Although the SJCAM is advertised as a 4K action cam, the M20 is not capable of recording true 4K video. For this is not guilty the 16MP Sony IMX206, but the Novatek NTK96660 chipset. The M20 can shoot at 2880×2160 pixels so it merely interpolates video.
The good thing is that at the official site, SJCAM doesn’t hide this fact. The thing is that in case you don’t want a 4K and you use 60fps, you will record at 1080p.There is also a 2K mode (2560×1440 pixels) which doesn’t trick you by repeating frames. You can also choose lower resolutions down to VGA. An other thing that this camera features and is very good and rare for this price, is the presence of a gyro stabilization.
SJCAM doesn’t really mention how exactly functions, but if you try to shoot at 1080p with 60fps, the final result is surprisingly smooth and stable. The camera also features Wi-Fi and through the special app that comes with for iOS and Android, you can change the settings of the camera, see the video feed, start and stop recordings and review and download clips. The camera except from the usual standard video and photo modes, there’s also Video Lapse (time-lapse video), Slow Rec (720p at 120fps or VGA at 240fps), Photo Lapse (photos taken every 3, 5, 10 or 20 seconds) and Burst Mode (3, 5 or 10 frames). If you want to use the camera in your car as a dash camera, there is a car modewhich enables automatic recording when the power is turned on. You have a choice of 3, 5 or 10 minute loop recording, too.
Battery
The SJCAM M20 comes with a removable 900mAh Battery. The company mentions that the power of the battery is enough for the camera to function with the WiFi OFF for 75 minutes and 10 minutes less if you have it enabled. However, if you set the camera to shoot at 1080p 60fps, the company says you will be able to record for totally 30 minutes.
Conclusion
If you’re searching for a small, lightweight camera with stabilization choosing the SJCAM M20is a logical thing to do. And as we have said in the beginning, we have a special coupon for you, the M2016OFF, which will give you 16% OFF from the final price and is valid till the ends on December 31st. So hurry up to order it and have it as an early Christmas present!
