The Panasonic DP-UB9000 is the company’s latest flagship 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Hailed as a potential ‘Oppo-killer’ when first announced, Panasonic must have been delighted with Oppo’s announcement that it was ceasing production of its hugely popular UDP-203 and UDP-205 players. Oppo’s departure was entirely its decision and had nothing to do with Panasonic, but it did provide a handy gap in the high-end player market, one that Panasonic hopes to fill.
