Amazon Echo and Echo Dot hands on

It’s 18 months since the Amazon Echo launched in the US, adding a wireless Bluetooth speaker to Amazon’s increasingly disparate spread of products and services – and now it’s coming to the UK (and Europe).

And a lot has happened in that time, from updates to the Alexa voice-assistant at the heart of the speaker, to additions to the Echo range of hardware products, the Echo Dot and the Tap.

But can Amazon adapt Echo and Alexa to the UK market? From understanding UK accents, terms and instructions, to offering the necessary software and hardware partnerships? And does the Echo speaker actually sound any good?

We’ve had our first look and listen to the UK version of the Echo speaker and the new second-gen Echo Dot in order to find out…
