Sony updates staple pro A-mount lenses

The veteran 16-35mm f2.8 and 24-70mm f2.8 lenses get modern coatings and other modern touches.

The new lenses look pretty much the same, though the new coatings are important.

 

It’s hard to believe that they’re 10 years old, but Sony’s finally updating two of its most important lenses.

The Vario-Sonnar T* 16-35mm f2.8 SSM II and 24-70mm f2.8 II remain essentially the same but Sony incorporates more recent coatings — coating technology has change a lot in the last decade — for better clarity and less ghosting. Sony also claims significantly better subject tracking.
